Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year From Randy and Judy Lundrigan

Schools of Hope - Tegucigalpa Honduras

Seasons Greetings to our wonderful partners, family and friends who are continually partnering with
us to impact lives in Honduras. This has been a year of transformation. Right before our eyes this past year, we have seen kids thrive and revive. Its truly amazing! Through our ERDO ISFP (In School Feeding Program) we have daily fed more than 1200 children in four primary school programs plus two kindergarten schools.

Highlights from 2013 ..

40,582 lunches for primary school children 67,580 cups of CSB (Nutritional Breakfast Drink) 108,162 meals served Children who were not in good health are looking better, have more energy, cognitive skills are improved and they are no longer falling asleep in class Grades and attendance have improved Children know that they will have food every school day Moms and teachers tell us kids are gaining weight and that they are no longer waking up at night with hunger pains Well over 100 children have asked Jesus into their hearts 68 Christmas food hampers delivered to families including the elderly, widows, two teachers who have not been paid for the entire school year, moms who sacrificed earning a living on certain days, just so they could come cook the food for our ISFP and many families in need Distributed over 100 gifts to our sponsored children

What a joy it was to see their faces as they opened their gifts. Our dream is to one day have enough gifts for ALL of our kids, even those not sponsored. Dream with us!

Milady is a sweet child in Moises Starkman School. On the day of our Christmas party with the entire school she came dressed in her best clothes, a very worn and oversized pink dress. She was happy as a lark participating in all of the festivities. My heart went out to this child, amongst all the other hundreds of kids, my eye kept drawing to hers. Knowing her economic situation and that she is not currently sponsored, we added her family to our food hamper list. None of the families knew we would visit them that day. It was a surprise! We knocked on her door; Milady answered dressed in a pair of oversized shorts, tied up with a string and her old school blouse, dirty and torn. My heart warmed as I saw her. Even though it was a very poor home, it was very clean and that house was most definitely filled with love. In fact this mom often gives food to other needy families in the community. What impacted me the most was this, as we visited with the family Milady slipped into the back room, and put on her special pink dress just for us. I had a hard time holding back the tears. This dirty, oversized damaged dress was her prized possession and she was very proud to wear it for us. Very humbling indeed. Its true happiness is a gift. They have found that gift in JESUS. Ritzys story like so many of our precious children we have known Ritzy since 2004 when she was just a little girl. She is now 13. We have had the privilege of seeing her attend one of our feeding stations at Maria Elena School. This year she graduates Grade 6 and is supposedly ready for the world. Ritzys situation is like many others, they are hungry. Plain and simple. In her case she comes to school EVERY day early and her first stop is ALWAYS the kitchen. She asks if the food is ready. One day Delmis asked her, why she does that? At home she has a step father who does not feed her. He only feeds his own children. So the only meals she gets each day are at school. If there are leftovers, she likes to ask for them. This information was confirmed with her mom who told us that with so many kids to feed at home its the younger ones who eat if food is available . Her mother is saddened by this but this is the reality of poverty. For many others this is also the case. This is one of the reasons why we are so blessed to have the ISFP.

Thank You ERDO !

School will start again February 2014. We look forward to the new school year as we continue activities that improve the life of children, provide hope and allowing us to be the hands of Jesus extended. This is all possible because of you! THANKYOU so much! We have attached a video for you to enjoy. We created it especially with you in mind. Schools of Hope Honduras Promo Video.mp4 We very much appreciate the GIFTS all of our supporting people and churches who may have partnered with us in support, or in prayer or both this year! You have made a tremendous difference in the lives of our kids. Thank you for investing in Honduran children through helping us reach out to those in need! You are also a GIFT to them. Without you, we could not have accomplished these things for the Lord, nor move forward to the future. Together we share in HIS work in Honduras. As we close this year, we are reminded of the greatest gift of all, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who came as a baby in a lowly manger, yet was the Messiah and Savior of all mankind. Several times over this past month we have reinforced within our programs the Christmas story, reenacting with the kids and letting them dress up like shepherds and wise men, Mary and Joseph and pointing them to our baby Jesus. We have read them the Christmas story from the bible and emphasized His greatness and power as He has worked in all our lives. Yes, this GIFT is well worth celebrating. JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON! HAVE A VERY BLESSED CHRISTMAS & GOD INSPIRED NEW YEAR We appreciate you. God Bless you all! Randy and Judy Lundrigan
