STATEMENT OF PURPOSE UNIVERSITY OF STAVANGER

My insatiable quest to acquire knowledge has been the motivating factor behind my seeking quality education and a solid background, having in mind that this will help me realize my dreams of making the world a safer place for human habitation and at the same time, contributing my uttermost quota to the advancement of mankind. Having graduated amongst the top notch in my secondary school and excelling in my senior secondary school certificate examination, secured me a place in the Federal niversity of !echnology "werri. #n institution that happens to be one of the outstanding engineering schools in my country. $ enrolled to pursue a degree in Mechanical %ngineering. !he duration of my stay in the university exposed me to the rudiments and processes vital in the engineering sector. &uring the course of my studies, $ took diverse studies ranging from %ngineering #nalysis, $ndustrial 'tudies down to (omputer #ided &esign and Manufacturing. $ was tutored bearing in mind the needs and ob)ectives of the industry. (ourses $ took during my undergraduate years prepared me academically and laid the necessary track for me to pursue a Masters &egree. $t was during the course of my internship, when $ was exposed to real engineering procedures that my academic and professional views tremendously changed. $ got the opportunity to undergo an industrial training with *estle *igeria +lc, where $ was attached to the industrial services section of the engineering department ,# section that handles the generation and supply of power and steam as well as operate and maintain industrial plants such as the industrial steam boiler and power generators-, then $ realized how important a role, the optimal management of physical.industrial assets of an organization plays in order to maximize value. 'ince downtimes as a result of poor management of industrial assets leads to high cost of production. Further enlightenment came my way, when $ worked with %bby/ !ek 'ervices 0imited, an engineering services and procurement company that deals on the installation as well as maintenance of fire suppression systems on various offshore platforms of giant oil firms like %xxonmobil, 'hell, (hevron as well as !otal.

&uring the course of my stay with the aforementioned firm, $ was opportuned to work in a team were we carried out the design installation, operation and maintenance of numerous fire suppression systems as well as worked on the %/"ne fire trucks. 1ased on my experience, working on the operation and maintenance of industrial plants such as industrial steam boilers, heavy duty power generating sets, turbines, chillers and %/"ne fire trucks. $ became motivated to pursue an advanced degree in $ndustrial #sset Management. $t is based on the above, that $ have decided to enroll for a Masters &egree +rogram, with your prestigious institution, with the aim of refining and expanding my knowledge base in this chosen field of study. 'ince $ndustrial #sset Management involves the process of organizing, planning and controlling the procurement, operation and maintenance of physical.industrial assets in a safe, environmental friendly and economically efficient way. $ am strongly convinced beyond every reasonable doubt that your institution given its high spirited tutors, state of the art learning facilities and excellent tutor/student relationship will be the ideal place for me to pursue my graduate studies.
