SAP PM Maintenance processes

We distinguish the following processes: Corrective maintenance: activities are performed in response to the development of a deficiency or deficiencies that negatively impact the operations. Breakdown maintenance: the emergency repair of inoperable equipment Preventive maintenance: anticipate and prevent possible equipment failures by making periodic inspections and minor repairs in advance of major operating difficulties. Project oriented maintenance: tasks that are unique! fi"ed in time! comple"! high risk! cost and capacity intensive! strategic important! quality requirements! needs project specific organi#ation! $

Corrective maintenance

%ive steps: &. 'otification: malfunctions and other requirements are recorded in a notification. 'otifications can be accessed and processed via a list. (he notification usually refers to a technical object and contains a description of the malfunction or requirements. ). Planning: maintenance orders are created and planned on the basis of the reported requirements. (he planning encompasses the steps that are to be performed! the material required! as well as any utilities that may be necessary such as measurement devices! cranes! etc. *. +cheduling: the order runs through different checks! such as material availability checks and capacity planning! which are important for the release of the order. ,f no problems arise during these checks! the other is put in process. (he shop papers are usually printed at this point. -. ."ecution: the order is e"ecuted and the required material is withdrawn. .ven material that has not been planned and therefore not reserved by the order! can be withdrawn. /. Completion: consists of the partial steps time confirmation! technical confirmation and technical completion. (he settlement of an order by Controlling can be performed before or after the technical completion.

Notification

0 maintenance order consists of: 'otification header: used to identify and manage the complete maintenance notification. 'otification items: used to determine a problem! damage or activities in greater detail. 0ctivities: document the work performed for a notification. (hey are particularly important for inspections! because they prove that certain tasks have been performed. (asks: describe activities that should still be performed. (asks may have only arisen after the maintenance task was e"ecuted 1for e"ample! creating a report2.

0 maintenance notification does not necessarily result into a maintenance order.

Objects in notification
0 notification can be created for a functional location or for an equipment! respectively with or without an assembly! or for a material with a serial number.

Catalogs

Catalogs are mainly used for analysis! workflows and follow up actions. Catalog: a combination of code groups grouped together by their content! for e"ample: damages! causes of damage! $ Code groups: a combination of codes! grouped together according to content! for e"ample: damage to vehicles! mechanical damages! electrical damages! $ Codes: description of damage! an activity! $ for e"ample: corroded! broken! dirty!

leaking! $ Catalog profile: mapping of relevant code groups with objects.

+electing maintenance notifications is possible using the +0P 3ist 4iewer.

Planning
(ypical planning tasks include creating operations! reserving spare parts or planning usage times. (wo main options for assigning work: 5 e"ternal companies internal workshops 5 ."ternal processing ,nternal processing 0 maintenance order consists of: 6rder header: used to identify and manage the complete maintenance order.

6bject list: contains the objects to be processed 1functional locations! equipment! assemblies! serial numbers2 and is implemented if the same activity must be performed at multiple objects of the same type. (his is used to compile multiple notifications and also to assign several technical objects to the order. 6rder operation: describes the tasks that should be performed for the maintenance order and who performs them with what guidelines. 7aterial list 1component list2: contains spare parts! which are required and used when the maintenance order is e"ecuted. Production resources8tools: are required to e"ecute the maintenance order! but are not used up. ."amples: tools! protective clothing! trucks. +ettlement rule: provides information on who should bear the costs. ,t is proposed from the master record for the reference object and can be changed when the first settlement rule is maintained for the order. Costs: tells you how much the estimated! planned and actual costs are in the value categories of this order. 9ou can display the costs in to ways: at cost element view 1Controlling view2! for e"ample! spare parts! e"ternal material! labour hours! $ at value category level 17aintenance view2! for e"ample! internal service! e"ternal service! warehouse issue! $

Material planning
9ou can plan materials! which are requited to e"ecute the task! for each operation in the maintenance order. (he materials can be B67 components for the reference object or freely assigned materials. (he materials will be reserved in the warehouse if they are kept in stock. %or each order type you decided in Customi#ing whether the system should make the material reservation effective or generate the purchase requisition immediately or only when the order is released. (he two possibilities: 0n availability check can be called when components are assigned to the order.

7aterial reservation 0n availability check is performed when the order is released. 0 material provision list and material withdrawal slips can be printed together with the order papers. Planned goods issues are entered with reference to the reservation 1reservation number2! unplanned goods issues with reference to the order number. (hey appear in the document flow of the order. Purchase order requisition. Purchase orders are generated in Purchasing. 6rder is released. :oods receipts are entered with reference to the purchase order. (he order is debited with the purchase order value. When the invoice is received! any invoice differences are automatically credited to! or debited from the order.

7aterial planning can also be based on internet catalogs. 9ou can connect to the catalog through the +0P .nterprise Buyer component! previously known as .BP ; .nterprise Buyer Professional 1<8* -.=C2.

Scheduling

(he following steps can be e"ecuted: +elect. 4ia the +0P 3ist 4iewer you can select! sort! display! $ maintenance orders or operations with certain criteria. Check material availability. When you release a maintenance order! the system checks the availability of material! production resources8tools and the necessary permits. 0t the time of release! material reservations become relevant for materials planning! materials can be withdrawn and the purchase requisitions can be generated. 6nly after releasing you can print shop papers! withdraw material! book goods receipts! enter time confirmations and complete tasks. (o enable orders to be released upon creation! the indicator ><elease ,mmediately? must be set. Print. &. @ob ticket: gives the person e"ecuting the maintenance work a complete overview of the order. ,f your system is connected to a A7+! you can also print graphics! for e"ample! engineering8design drawings on this ticket. ). 6peration control ticket: shows the maintenance engineer responsible a complete overview of the maintenance order! including permits. *. 7aterial pick list: shows the warehouse clerk which materials have been planned. -. 6bject list: shows an overview of the objects 1technical objects! notifications2 /. Execution
(his phase involves the withdrawal of spare parts from the warehouse and the actual e"ecution of the order. Withdrawals can be planned or unplanned. 7aterials can also be procured e"ternally. (he e"ecution is performed by the maintenance work center named in the order.

Completion

(here are two types of confirmations: (ime confirmations can be done using the individual entry function or using the overall completion confirmation function. ,f confirmations are entered! the system sets the status PC'% 1partially confirmed2 for the operations or C'% 1confirmed2 if the final confirmation indicator is set. 0s soon as all the operations for an order are confirmed! the order at header level is assigned the status C'%. (he reverse completion is also possible when mistakes were made. 9ou can enter not only times! but also! for e"ample! material withdrawals or counter readings on a single screen. Can be done on three ways: Collective entry by direct entry or using an operation listB 6verall completion confirmations: times! activities! measurement values! .. on one screenB .ntry using cross application time sheet 1C0(+2. (he activities reported are entered as maintenance notifications with type >0ctivity <eport?. 7easurement values and counter readings are entered as measurement documents for the reference object. (echnical completion. (he maintenance order obtains the status (.C6 1technically completed2 after the required work is completed. 0fter this! most fields can no longer be changed. Cowever! the order can still receive costs! for e"ample! invoice receipts for materials delivered and consumed.
