ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
PART A
Recent research shows that the consumption of junk food is a major factor in poor diet and
this is detrimental to health. Some people believe that better health education is the answer to
this problem but others disagree. What is your opinion?

ANSWER

A growing number of leading an unhealthy lifestyle is increase in the 21st century.

They prefer to eat foods that are rich in calories and it has become a widespread practice.
This can be considered as a very serious issue. One sensible approach to reducing junk food
intake is through educating the public about healthy habits. In this assignment, I want to
enhanced some of the approaches that can contribute to getting better health
To educate the public about healthy lifestyle practices and create awareness on the
dangers of junk food we should give early education from their childhood. One reason why
attention must be given to health education is that it is an appropriate measure to address one
of the causes of this problem. It is clear that there is a relationship between people who know
about their diet and eating habits. For example, children who learn in school about the need to
have a varied diet with lots of vitamins tend to eat more healthy foods. On the other hand,
people who do not have health education prefer eating too much junk food and as a result
they suffer from diabetes and other diseases. As the saying goes saying "Prevention is better
than cure" health education should start from childhood, this is really going to create a
positive influence on their daily lifestyle. So when they grow into adults are less likely for
them to get redirected to the wrong path.
Measures should be taken to prevent such an appropriate time and ensure that
nutritious food is available to them. A few more steps that need to be considered is to put

[OUMH2103] July 17, 2013

a ban on all advertising related to junk food as applied to cigarettes and to prohibit children
from going to the shops.
A serious concern at present is how our eating habits can affect our health. In
particular, it has been shown that eating too much junk food can lead to health issues later in
life. One of the recommendations appropriate to deal with this is to increase the education
level of health so that we eat better and live longer.
To conclude, it is certain that the role of health education is indispensable. In order to
achieve better results, some changes need to be made in the social aspect as well.
Better health education, however, is not the complete answer because it also ignores
the broader social factors that cause people to eat unhealthy. For example, many people eat
junk food because of their hectic lifestyle which means they do not have the time to sit down
for a proper meal. Again, others may eat burgers and pizza because they want to be more
urban, and they want to impress their friends.
Would not appear to be any easy way to deal with social factors. Difficulty is that it is
very difficult for the government to make changes to individual choices people make. It
might help, however, to ban advertisements for unhealthy food on television and asked the
companies to provide the right food for their employees.
Various adverse effects of junk food are as follows:

Junk food causes obesity.

Lack of energy: Junk food does not contain any nutrients that are beneficial to the
human body.

These foods are filled with harmful carbohydrates, fats and cholesterol that do not
provide much useful energy.

Suffering from a lack of oxygen which eventually causes poor brain function.

In the long run, the heart cannot function as it should because of too much cholesterol
absorbed in the body, as the effects of junk food on health.

[OUMH2103] July 17, 2013

If there is too much plaque in the arteries, the heart has to assert more effort in
pumping blood that can cause you to be in fatigue.

The amount of excess cholesterol in your body can destroy the liver as well.

Most of them are junk food eaters might get diabetes at any point in their lives due to
the presence of sugar in the body.

High blood pressure is caused by a large amount of sodium from junk foods can also
occur.

You will also fall victim to mood swings.

There will also be a problem with constipation.

Snacks are also causing damage to the pancreas resulting in insulin-dependent

diabetes mellitus (IDDM).
As a conclusion, of course the government should introduce measures to improve the

level of health education. However, this may not be a perfect solution because it will also
need to address other social factors that lead to unhealthy eating.
Snacks itself gives us an idea of how important it is for our bodies. Junk food is
considered as junk food because they are high in fat and sugar components regardless of how
they are labelled by the manufacturer or how smart the market. The majority of the snack
choices do not convey the values of good nutrition, but you can actually integrate some
snacks in your diet with the assurance that it is a modest amount.
Teens comprise a significant portion of the higher junk food fanatic lifestyle munching
on potato chips, French fries, pizzas, burgers, samosas, kachoris, ice cream, chocolate, shakes
and other snacks.
Junk food usually brings to mind images American food, regardless of age, the effects
of junk food on health is usually bad, especially if it is consumed in high quantities.

[OUMH2103] July 17, 2013

You will end up getting tired easily become junk food fanatic. Because it is not
appropriate to balance your energy level should be, not only that, you will have a tendency to
desire more food when you eat junk food.

PART B
The following diagram shows how greenhouse gases trap energy from the Sun.

Analyze the content of the above diagram and write an essay.

The greenhouse effect is a warning sign on the bottom of the atmosphere and surface of
the planet by a very complex process involving

Sunlight

Gases

small material

in the atmosphere.

[OUMH2103] July 17, 2013

In the face of the earth today, the greenhouse effect since before the existence of
another human being. Human activity at this time adds impact drawbacks. The amount of
heat trapped by gases in the atmosphere, known as greenhouse gases growing rapidly since
the mid-century, in 1800, when the modern industry began to grow rapidly.
At the end of the century in 1800, the earth's surface temperature has increased. It has
been named as the greenhouse effect because the atmosphere looks like the glass roof and
walls of a greenhouse, trapping the heat of the sun.
The landscape shows about 15 per cent of solar energy will return to the air. The
balance will warm the land and the ocean. Land and ocean heat will reverse the heat back into
the air, especially in the form of infrared radiation and water vapour.
Infrared waves are almost the same as a small wave, but it cannot be seen by human
eyes. When an emission from land and ocean is in contact with certain substances in the
atmosphere as a greenhouse gas and waste debris, this material will continue to absorb the
radiation.
As a result, gas and waste fragments also become hot. It will just be cool when sent out
by infra-red beam itself. Some of them will go out into space and partly will return to the
earth's surface, which in turn also increase the degree of heat in surface air.
Without the natural greenhouse effect, the average surface temperature is about 59 degrees
Fahrenheit or 33 degrees Celsius cooler than it is now.
The main greenhouse gases are made of:

Atoms
of
carbon

Hydroge
n

Oxygen

[OUMH2103] July 17, 2013

This gas is composed of:

Water
vapour

Carbon
dioxide

Methan
e

Ozone

The fragments of greenhouse are cloud droplets and dust.

Since the beginning of 1800 to mid-century, the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere is increasing about 25 per cent and methane concentrations also increased to 150
per cent. Most of the increase is caused by human activity itself, especially the burning of
fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) and the clearing of land for farming.

Fossil fuels containing carbon and combustion produce carbon dioxide. Trees and other
plants absorb the gas through the process of photosynthesis. Land is cleared and felled forests
also causes increased rates of carbon dioxide emissions.

[OUMH2103] July 17, 2013

The average rate of the earth's surface temperature increased about 0.5 to 1.5 degrees
Fahrenheit (0.3 to 0.8 degrees Celsius) until the end of the century 1800. Scientists have yet
to confirm the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increases the temperature of the
earth's surface. If, in a particular situation, relationship does exist, then the results could be
worse.
Many scientists estimate that by 2050, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
is doubled compared to pre-industrial levels in the area. If this increase was also added by the
greenhouse effect, the earth's surface temperature will increase between three to eight degrees
Fahrenheit (1.5 to 4.5 degrees Celsius) in 2100. The increase in surface temperature, known
as global warming could change some parts of the earth's ecological system.
For example, global warming also affect rainfall patterns, ice melt thus increasing sea
levels that would cause a severe tropical storm, resulting in the migration of plants and
animals total. It also causes changes in tidal currents and wind circulation, so some areas
colder than at present.

Another effect of global warming in the northern regions causing more snow was melted and
causing more ice sheet.
