NOISE CONTROL OF TWO STROKE PETROL ENGINE USING AQUA SILENCER

SYNOPSIS Air pollution is most important from the public health point of view, because every individual person breathes approximately 22 times a day, inhalin! about "# to 22 $! of air daily% Polluted air causes physical ill effect decides undesirable aesthetic and physiolo!ical effects% Air pollution can be defined as addition to our atmosphere of any material, which will have a deterious effect on life upon our planet% &he main pollutants contribute by automobiles are carbon monoxide '(O), unburned hydrocarbon '*+,(), oxides of nitro!en 'Nox) and -ead% Automobiles are not the only source of air pollution, other sources such as electric power !eneratin! stations, industrial and domestic fuel consumption, refuse burnin!, industrial processin! etc% also contribute heavily to contamination of our environment so it is imperative that serious attempts should be made to conserve earth./0s environment from de!radation% An a1ua silencer is an attempt in this direction, it is mainly dealin! with control of emission and noise% An a1ua silencer is fitted to the exhaust pipe of en!ine% Sound produced under water is less hearable than it produced in atmosphere% &his mainly because of small sproc2ets in water molecules, which lowers its amplitude thus, lowers the sound level% +ecause of this property water is used in this silencer and hence its name A3*A SI-4N(45% &he noise and smo2e level is considerable less then the conventional silencer, it is cheaper, no need of catalytic converter and easy to install%

Air pollution is the introduction of chemicals, particulate matter, or biolo!ical materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other livin! or!anisms, or dama!es the natural environment, into the atmosphere% &hese substances , called pollutants, can occur naturally or they can be produced by human activities% Natural pollutants include dust, pollen, salt particles, smo2e from forest fires, and !ases from or!anic waste% 7ost pollution caused by human activities is directly or indirectly the result of burnin! of fuels in furnaces or en!ines% &he atmosphere is a complex, dynamic natural !aseous system that is essential to support life on planet 4arth% Stratospheric o8one depletion due to air pollution has lon! been reco!ni8ed as a threat to human health as well as to the 4arth9s ecosystems% Air pollution in the world have emer!ed as the focus of environmental remediation efforts because of their toxicity and threat to human bein!s% 6ue to rapid !rowth of industriali8ation and urbani8ation with new technolo!ical advancements, the existin! environments are contaminated by emission from automobile and industries containin! or!anics, colour, heavy metal etc% &he environment contamination particularly by air pollutants from industrial effects and their persistence in food chain has been of ma:or concern as it is posin! a serious threat to environment includin! fisheries% ,ence the removal of toxic air pollutant contaminants from atmosphere is one of the most important environmental and economic issues today % &he ever increasin! demand for atmosphere of hi!h 1uality has caused considerable attention to be focused towards recovery and reuse of pollutants %7any expences models of removal for air pollutants available in devoleped countries but devolepin! countries li2e India thease are not applicable because of its hi!h expences % so very simple methods are welcome%

Amon! the physico;chemical treatment process adsorption is found to be hi!hly effective, cheap and easy method '7etacalf and 4ddy "<=2)% Adsorption is by far the most versatile and widely used method%

WORKING PRINCIPLE

As the exhaust !ases enters in to the a1ua silencer, the perforated holes converts hi!h mass bubbles in lo low mass bubbles after that they passes throu!h charcoal layer which a!ain purify the !ases% It is hi!hly porous and posses extra free valences so it has hi!h absorption capacity% After passin! over the charcoal layer some of the !ases may dissolved in to the water and finally the% exhaust !ases escape throu!h the openin! in to the atmosphere% ,ence a1ua silencer reduces noise and pollution% exhaust !ases are analysed% &hen # ! of adsorbent is ta2en by wei!hin! accurately% &he filter was fixed exhaust hollow pipe% &hen the filter fitted with the ic en!ine% Now en!ine was started and out!oin! !ases are analysed at se1uence time interval ie > min to ?> min% &hen wei!ht of adsorbent and flow rates are chan!ed and analy8ed% A6@AN&AA4S Aood pic2up% (ost of the 4n!ine is less% -i!hter is wei!ht% 4nsures a more uniform rotation of the (ran2shaft% No vibration when the 4n!ine is runnin!% Startin! the 4n!ine 4asy%
