ILAR, Graciel M. INACAY, Jeloufer Kate E. ND3A CASE ANALYSIS Team Fun!

Kenny and Norton, owners of TEAM FUN!, a sporting goods manufacturer and retailer, are in the OFFICE, looking at the model of their organization on the wall. Norton comments, I think its great that your daughter, Gloria, is getting married again. And I agree that we should give Bobby, your new son-in-law, a manager job at a branch. But we have all the branch managers we need. Kenny grins. I think this would be a great time to open a Florida store. They could live there; run the place in the summer. We go down there in the winter and make sure everything is going fine. It will be great. Norton groans. Maybe. Hey, Tony! he yells to the director of human resources, who is walking by. Come in here for a minute. We need to hire 20-30 people in the Fort Myers, Florida, area to work in our new branch. How long will it take you to get that together? Meanwhile, Kenny picks up the phone. Ray, remember that mall area by the new golf course in Punta Gorda we played last year? Find out if we can lease 30,000-40,000 square feet of it by He puts his hand over the receiver and looks at Tony. How long till you get that people? Tony gulps and says, Six months, probably. Who do I take from here? Kenny continues on the phone with Ray, the comptroller, By what is this, June? By September-October 1. That gives us about to 60 to 90 days to redo the inside. We can open TEAM FUN! SOUTH in time for a Christmas rush! Sure. Sure. Whatever you need. Get back to me. He hangs up, obviously well pleased.

As Tony slumps into a side chair, Norton says to him, Now that you did all those job description, Im amazed you think it will take five months. We know lots of people along the Golf Coast. Let me find you some names. He and Kenny both paw through a huge Rolodex and laugh at certain names and memories as they pull cards for Tony. Tony sights, Good thing Ive got that intern starting next week. Questions: (You are Tonys intern) 1. Make a recruiting plan for TEAM FUN! Identify at least four principal recruiting sources for the new store. Be sure to discuss the pros and cons of each of your suggestions. 2. Recommend to Tony which of the four sources should get top priority. Defend your decision.

I.

Time Context The event happened on the 1st day of July, the statement By September-October 1 proves this. That gives us about to 60 to 90 days to redo the inside. It will take six (6) months for the human resources director to get the people into the job.

II.

Viewpoint The viewpoint will be coming from Tony, the Human Resources Director of TEAM FUN! He will be the one dealing with the recruiting and selecting processes within the given span of time.

III.

Statement of the Problem 1. What could be the strategic recruiting plan that the intern of Tony will be doing? 2. Could these plans be possible and beneficial for the company, taking considerations that he, the intern, is inexperienced? 3. Will the recruitment be free from biases of the director and the owners themselves? 4. Are their referrals an advantage for the company or will it hinder them from performing their tasks in achieving certain goals and objectives?

IV.

Objectives Must Objectives/Short-Range To open a new branch in south located at the Fort Myer, Florida To hire 20-30 suitable people for the new branch. To open the branch before Christmas, to have a good sale during this peak season. Make a Recruiting Plan that complies with the Job Analysis

Know the culture of the people inside the vicinity area (TEAM FUN! SOUTH).

Want Objectives/Long-Range Maintain the operation by hiring and maintaining quality people for the business. Provide competitive compensation plan for the employees To be well-known in the certain location and be able to sustain it for the next few years V. Areas of Consideration/Analysis Strengths The new branch will be located beside the golf course, which means a high possible sale. The owners are influential and have many partners and friends to help them with the new branch. They enjoy working with each other because they treat everybody as family. Weaknesses The assignment of the branch and its managers is so sudden. Family matters might affect the operation of the company and might hinder them to perform their duties. Opportunities Introduce their product to the southern people, and become popular to the area near the vicinity.

To construct a bigger working environment that can accommodate new employee that can be a key factor in increasing the companys profit and performance. To gain more loyal customers that are wiling and able to buy their product every time they need it, and be the first and only choice of the consumers.

Threats ! ! ! ! Competitors, which are present before they open their branch in Florida Economic crisis There might also be catastrophes from time to time The owners need time to travel because the main branch is far from the new branch to be established and so problems will not be able to be solved immediately for some instances. VI. Alternative Courses of Action ! ! ! The Human Resources Director, Tony, must not totally rely on his intern who will be coming the week after. The owners must have an alternative course of action in case that something comes up between Kennys daughter and son-in-law. The location must be checked personally by someone who is assigned to do so for him or her to know if the owners had the choice of establishing the business practically and wisely and not because of their own sole interest. ! The human resource director to ensure that the organization will be free from personal interests and biases should specify Job description and job specification.

VII.

Recommendation All alternative courses of action stated above are things, which should be considered in establishing the new branch of TEAM FUN! But the students are able to identify whats the priority that company should do and it is to provide the detailed and specified job descriptions and job specifications of the employees. They will be having a new experience in terms of the location and they should be able to provide the needs of the customers with the people who best understand them, themselves.

VIII. Conclusion/Detailed Action or Implementation Plan o The human resource department must be able to identify how wide the area of operation will be to know the exact number of people to hire. o They must be able to provide the owners their proposed table for the job descriptions and job specifications for their future employees. o The owners must approve or decline the proposal of the department, considering their wants for the good of the company in a specific timeframe to meet goals. o The recruitment should be at the location itself and they must have surveys to know how they can conform to the standard of the state. With these detailed action plan, TEAM FUN! should be able to achieve their goals and objectives. They would not be successful if they have not built integrity in the industry and so this must be continued even though the branch will be far from the main one. The human resource department should be competitive in searching for the right people for their company to provide the needs and wants of the consumers. If delighted consumers are on the way, the business will prosper and maybe they could branch our more but in case that some are disappointed, they should make contingency plans.
