Ensto is an international industrial Group, founded in 1958, developing, manufacturing and marketing electrical solutions and accessories. At the moment, Ensto operates in 14 countries with a staff of over 1,000 and exports to over 70 countries.

Ensto Utility Networks develops, manufactures and markets products for transmission and distribution networks within a voltage range of 0.4 400 kV, underground cable accessories within a voltage range of 0.4 36 kV as well as special products. Ensto is broadening its low voltage product line and launching new heat and cold shrink tubes and joints for medium voltage cables on the market.

Our product line includes both overhead line and underground cable accessories. We can offer our customers high quality and reliable products by combining our knowhow, experience and customeroriented product development.

Low Voltage Accessories

The range of Enstos low voltage underground cable accessories has expanded signicantly. Our product range includes heat shrink tube kits for joining 3, 4 and 5-core cables. Accessories for 1kV cables also include spreader caps, end caps, cast resin joints and cable repair sleeves. The new SJKK joint kits with repair sleeves make cable joining possible, even in conned spaces.

Since the joint includes easy-to-use screw connectors, no special tools are needed and cable joining is easier.

1 kV Joint Kits and Accessories

Enstos 1 kV joint kits cover all 3, 4 and 5-core cable joints within a cross-sectional range of 6-300 mm. With these accessory kits, papercable joints can also be made.

The kits include connectors with shear head bolts, so no pressing tools are needed. Moreover, every kit covers a large range of crosssections, which reduces warehousing costs. It is easy to choose the right kits with the Jatsekko program, which nds the correct kits upon entry of the cable type.

1 kV Joint Kits SJK 0.47. 4.47

With the joint kit, it is possible to make 4 to 4-core and 4 to 3 - plastic cable joints. With the additional piece included in the kit, the concentric PEN conductor for the 3-core cables can be joined to conductors with a larger cross-section. All SJK kits include 8 additional sleeves,which are used to join annealed Al cables with small cross-sections. Enstos SJK joint kits include four inner heat shrink tubes with adhesive, and one outer heat shrink tube with adhesive for the cable sheath, four connectors with shear head bolts, an abrasive band, a cleaning towel and a tting tool for installing the connectors. It is safe to join Cu cables to Al cables with the joint kit because the connectors are tin-plated and have middle wall, which prevents corrosion of the Al/Cu joint. SJKK Heat Shrink Joints with Repair Sleeves

The joint is otherwise the same as SKJ, only the outer sheath of the joint having a repair sleeve. Cables can be joined in a smaller space since there is no need to place a long outer heat shrink tube on the cable while the connectors remain installed. A heat shrink repair sleeve is joined using a metal zipper, after which it is shrunk onto the joint cables as an outer sheath.

SJL Accessory Kits

SJL accessory kits are used in 3 to 3-core joints and 5 to 5-core joints. The kit includes a heat shrink tube without adhesive (middle tube), a tin-plated Cu-messtape, a connector and an additional connector for joining the concentric PEN conductor.

SJP Accessory Kits

SJP accessory kits are used for joining lead sheathed paper cables. Connectors with Shear Head Bolts

The connectors with shear head bolts make it possible to join cables without pressing tools. They come in four sizes and cover a cross-sectional range of 6-300 mm. These tin-plated, partitioned connectors are for joining both Al and Cu conductor cables as well as paper insulated and plastic insulated cables. When joining annealed Al or Cu cables with small cross-sections, a tubular, tin-plated additional sleeve must be used. Cable Lugs with Shear Head Bolts

The cable lugs have shear head bolts, so no pressing tools are needed in installation. Tin-plated cable lugs are compatible with both Al and Cu conductors and are longitudinally watertight, and can be used for a cross-sectional range as wide as 6-300 mm. The cable lugs are tested according to SFS 2663 and IEC 1238-1. When joining annealed Al or Cu cables, we recommend that an additional tin-plated, tubular sleeve be used with small cross-sections. Additional Pieces and Sleeves

The additional pieces are designed for Enstos SJ connectors and using them it is possible to join conductors with crosssections different to that of the connector (e.g. 70 mm to 120 mm). Because they are tin-plated, the connectors can be used for both Al and Cu conductors. The additional SJH-sleeve is tin-plated copper and installed inside the connector when joining cables (6-35, mm). The additional SJH-sleeve prevents the bolt from grinding the annealed conductor. The installation of SJ 1.47 + SJH 1.47 has been tested according to SFS 2663 for the T2 temperature class. 1kV Heat Shrink Joint Kits for 3, 4 and 5-Core Cables

Heat shrink joint kits include tubes for conductors and for the outer sheath of the cable. The tubes are watertight, have adhesive on their inner surface and form a cover whose technical features match the insulation and sheath of the cable. Thus, the cable joint is similar to the structure of the cable. The tubes are mechanically strong, being made of cross-linked polyolen, and UV-resistant. They are also non-corrosive and have been tested according to DIN IEC 15C/590/CD. The joint kit is for both pressed and shear head bolt connectors. Before shrinking the inner tube, the length and suitability of the connector must be checked. Spreader Caps for 1 kV Cables

Enstos spreader caps are for 2, 3 and 4-core plastic and paper cables. They prevent water, dirt, humidity and dust entering the cable. The caps are made of cross linked polyolen with an adhesive layer that improves fastening. This is an effective way of protecting the cable termination when, for example, entering a cable distribution cabinet. The spreader caps are black, lead and halogen-free and UV-resistant. Cable Repair Sleeves

Cable repair sleeves can be used for repairing cables that have a damaged insulation sheath. They give the best possible insulation and mechanical protection to the cable sheath. Moreover, they efciently prevent corrosion. Cast Resin Branching Joint, T-Type

A cast resin joint includes a T-shape joint mould and the cast resin. The mould is made of transparent plastic, making the amount of cast resin and its distribution within the mould easy to observe, the mould being fastened by attaching the halves to one another with snap-on fasteners. The cast resin is an EG-type cast resin compound meant for low voltages. In the same bag, you will nd a separate curing agent and cast resin, which are mixed by pulling out a separating stick from between the compartments, the cast resin and curing agent being mixed and poured into the casting mould. Cast Resin Branching Joint SE 16

The branching joint SE 16 can be used for making a lateral branch for an existing cable or branching a new underground cable network. Due to the joints inclusion of a thick walled casing, cast resin and SL 9.210 insulation connectors, its transmitting cable does not need to be disconnected. The joint is easy and quick to make. The cast resin in the joint kit is packed in a twocompartment bag (curing agent and cast resin) whose contents should be merged and mixed well according to the instructions provided with the kit. The voltage can be connected directly after installation. Cast resin has a storage period of 40 months.

EG cast resin is meant for installations with a maximum voltage of 1kV and for mechanical protection for medium voltages. It is suitable for both paper and plastic cables. The same bag includes a separate curing agent and polyurethane cast resin, which are mixed by pulling out a separating stick from between the compartments. The cast resin and curing agent are mixed and poured into the casting mould, forming effective insulation with a compact and water-tight layer. Within a few hours the cast resin hardens, and the voltage can be immediately connected. The resins storage period is 40 months.

Design Program Jatsekko

The easy-to-use Jatsekko program helps in selecting suitable joint kits. The program includes all common 1 kV plastic and paper insulated cables. Users only have to ll in the cable types being joined and the program will automatically display which kits should be used for a secure and reliable result. Jatsekko is compatible with Windows 95 or later versions, and Windows NT and XP. The Jatsekko program is available at www.ensto.com. You can also order the software free of charge from Ensto Sekko Oy.

Medium Voltage Accessories

Terminations and Joints for MV Cables

Our MV terminations and joints combine the advantages of heat and cold shrink technologies. The semi-conductive insulation screen is covered with a stress control tube which is easy to install and extremely reliable, effectively preventing damage to this most vulnerable section of the joint. The stress control tube evens out and controls the electrical eld, preventing the formation of uneven and high-intensity electrical elds, which might stress the cable at the end of the semi-conductive screen. The medium voltage terminations and joints are packaged into kits that are as complete as possible, making on-site installation easier. Joint kits include connectors with shear head bolts, and correspondingly, termination kits include cable lugs with shear head bolts. Kits are also available without connectors.

Termination Structure The cable termination consists of an insulating and surface current resistant heat-shrink tube, silicone stress control tube, cable lugs with shear head bolts, silicone slip-on sheds and sealing mastic. The reliability and safety of the termination is ensured by a silicone stress control tube, which is easy to install using the tool and GM 1 lubricant/ller included in the kit. Also included are earthing accessories such as a tin-plated Cu braid and earth spring/hose clamps. Termination kits are also available without cable lugs when e.g. pressed cable lugs can be used. Use UCHE cable terminations are compatible with plastic insulated AHXAMK-W, AHXAMK-WM, AHXAMK-WP and SAXKA-W cables. The terminations are for both outdoor and indoor use, and can be used for installing cables into ring main units, transformers, motors and SF6 switchgear. The terminations suit Cu and Al cables with a cross-section of 25...300 mm. Terminations are also easy to install on a pole together with a SH 536 surge arresterbracket and SO 75.1 raised bracket. Since the cable lugs with shear head bolts included in the basic kits are waterproof longitudinally, they are ideally suited to outdoor use. The slip-on silicone sheds are quick and easy to install and provide effective cover for the cable. The cable can be connected to the mains immediately after installation.

Heat shrink CHEP indoor and outdoor terminations are intended for paper insulated PLKVJ cables. Terminations are compatible with so-called belted cables that have an Al and lead sheath and steel band armoring. The termination kit includes a stress control tube, surface current and weather resistant termination tube, a spreader cap and oil resistant blue ller band for stress control. The termination kit comes without cable lugs and is also available with shear head bolt cable lugs. The length of the phase conductor is 500 mm, but the kit can also be delivered with a phase conductor length of 1,200 mm.

Cold Shrink CAE Terminations

The cold shrink CAE cable termination is implemented using the so-called SLIP ON technique. The termination is slipped into place along the conductors PEX insulation all the way to the disconnection point of the corona shield, to cover part of the cable sheath. Installation is aided with an installation tool and silicone paste. The termination is easy to install since it does not contain any separate components. Cold shrink terminations are suitable for the same applications as heat shrink terminations. They are also suitable for places where naked ames may not be used. Termination Structure CAE terminations have an integrated, reliable stress control tube inside and anges for the outer surface, so they do not need to be installed separately. The termination is made of exible silicone and has a smooth surface which cleans itself when in contact with water (forming a water drop on the termination, not a homogenous water coating). Terminations are available with shear head bolt cable lugs and without cable lugs. Use The CAE-I termination is intended for indoor use for single-core Cu and Al cables such as (A)HXCMK. Correspondingly, the CAE-F termination is intended for outdoor use. CAE terminations are also suitable for AHXAMK-W, AHXAMK-WM, AHXAMKWP and SAXKA-W cables. The termination kit does not include the AHXAMK-W cables Al shroud earthing set, which must be ordered separately using the product code SJCW70240.1.

Cold Shrink Joint for Single-Core Cables

Joint Structure The CAM cable joint consists of a stress control tube, a silicone three-layered insulator with a semi-conductive layer on the inside, an insulator in the middle and an outer layer of semi-conductive material. Cable Distribution Cabinets

Cable distribution cabinets and bases are made of sendzimirgalvanized 2 mm steel sheet. The roof, which is isolated to prevent condensation of water, is of 2 mm stainless steel. The roof can also be removed when installing mounting plates. The corrosion properties have been improved by polyester powder coating. Life expectancy of the cabinets is over 25 years. The standards color is RAL 7037 grey. The cabinets are suitable also for 5-core system with earthing set EJS5. The protection class of the cabinets is IP43 and IP20 for bus bars and components, which makes live line work possible without any special tools or working methods. The cabinets also fulll the requirements of EN 60439-5 standard.

Temporary current output

The cabinets are equipped with a hole on both sides of the cabinet for temporary current output. The holes can also be locked.

Identication
Inside the cabinet, there is a place for the cabinet form. External identication can be done with identication plates.

Locking
The standard locking of all the cabinets is triangle locking. Other alternatives can be delivered according to agreement.

Bases
The base of the cabinet is integrated into the construction. The base is locked inside the cabinet during transportation and it is pulled out and locked to the right place during installation. Cabinets without base are also available for pole, concrete base or oor mounting.

Modular system
All the components for the bus bar, like switches and components, are dimensioned with the modular system. The space needed for the components is stated in the number of modules ( 6 mm), which makes it easy to choose the right cabinet size.

Fixing of the cables

Cables are xed to adjustable xing bar with standard cable clamps.

External connections
The cabinets can be connected to each other with the connection set. The same xing points can be used with the marking bar.

Moisture barrier
In order to prevent entry of condensed water, a moisture barrier can be installed in the cabinets. The ventilation of the cabinets has been improved by ventilation holes in the front panel.

Branch off Cabinets

The branch off cabinets are designed for branching of cables with branching connectors without fuse-switches or bus bar. In the E-KSE_ 26.2 cabinet the branching (max. 50 mm2) is done with a connector set SV50, when it is possible to branch two cables in a ring network and three cables in an ending cabinet. If more branches are needed, the branching is done with KE 10.506 connectors. There is the M8 earthing screw in the cabinet. In the E-KSE_ 44.2 cabinet the branching (max. Al 95 mm2) is done with SL19.4 connectors and SP24 protective covers. There is a separate earthing bar with an earthing connector in the cabinet. In the earthing bar, there is place for three KG50 earthing connectors, which have to be ordered separately. If the used cables are max 50 mm2, the branching is done with the SV 50 connector set.

Empty Cabinets
The empty cabinets are suitable for tele or instrument cabinets, e.g. a street lighting or a measuring cabinet. The empty cabinets are externally similar to the cabinets with bus bar, see page 4 and 14. It is possible to install a mounting plate or a C-mounting bracket into the mounting bars inside the cabinet. The roof of the cabinet can be removed during installation of the mounting plate or the C-bar bracket. Mounting plates have to be ordered separately.

Road Lighting Center

The road lighting center is suitable for mounting into E-KST 94 distribution cabinets. The center is equipped with 00 main fuses and the Al/Cu 650 mm connecting cable is connected to cable lugs with shear head bolts. The center includes two measuring grids. In addition to energy measurements, the lighting can be controlled with a timer, a twilight switch or outside control. There are ve outputs, four behind the control contactors and one can be transferred behind the control. The latter should be directly connected for e.g. tunnel lighting. Switches and earthing covers

The E-DZ2x63A fuse-switch disconnector includes two outputs (max 63 A DZ II-III fuses) with spring operated fuse holders. The breaking operation of the load is made with knives, not with fuses. The EDZ2x63A is ideal for renewing projects and private house areas because each consumer can be connected with ones own output. Connectors are integrated into the construction, so there no need for separate connectors. The right fuse size is limited with fuse adapters. The E-KLB00 160 A fuse-switch disconnector can be used with one max 95 mm2 cable or two max 35 mm2 cables having the same crosssection, when E-KK25-95 connectors are used. Connectors, which are delivered in sets of 4, have to be ordered separately for E-KLB00 and E-KLB2 switches.

The E-KLB2 400 A fuse-switch disconnector can be used with one max 300 mm2 cable with E-KK240300 connectors or with two 50...185 mm2 cables having the same cross-section with E-KK2x50-185 connectors. The E-FSD disconnector unit includes visible clearance between open contacts. The switch is one pole operated. The utilisation category of the unit is AC21 with rated values of 500 V, 400 A. The cabinet can be bypassed by connecting two E-FSDs together. The unit can be used as a disconnecting device in a ring network instead of e.g. short circuiting knives.

The connectors have to be ordered separately. Every disconnector unit is voltage tested at the factory. All phases of the cable including the PEN conductor are connected directly to all the switches in the same level, which makes the installation easy. There is no need to bend the PEN conductor into a separate earthing bar. All the switches and components are suitable for live line work without any special tools or working methods. The installation of all the components and switches is done with 5 mm allen key E-IN5 or EMIN5. The bus bar and cables can be earthed with earthing covers.

Bus Bars

The renewing bus bars are ideal for renewing of old, existing cable distribution cabinets and transformer substations. If an old cabinet body is in good condition, there is no need to change the whole cabinet and a lot of money and time is saved. The bus bar is mounted into an old cabinet and old switches and open fuse bases can be replaced with new ones. The protection class of the bus bars is IP20. E-SS bus bars are suitable for old cable distribution cabinets, E-SS1600 bus bars for LV side of transformer substations and E-STS bus bars for the branch off cabinets.

KS-Design 2002

We have developed a Windows-based program KS-Design 2000 to help the design of cable distribution cabinets. With the program, a designer can easily choose the right cabinet size and components. The program also creates material lists of cabinet and project, circuit diagrams and layout diagrams of the cabinets. The used components, fuse sizes, cable types and sizes and cable addresses can be seen in the circuit diagram. All used components, as well as, material and labour costs can be seen in material lists. It is also possible to add own components, like cables and terminations, to material lists.

Lamp post xtures

Lamp post xtures are used for connecting and branching aluminium and copper cables in lamp posts and cable cabinets. The xtures are insulated. Ensto connectors are tinned to suit for both aluminium and copper conductors (4 or 6 conductors) The connectors can be used as L, N, PE or PEN connectors. Our assortment includes also connector sets, fuse bases, circuit breakers as well as complete, insulated lamp post xture sets. The ready-made sets make the installation faster. Ensto lamp post xtures suit for many different pole types.

Pole Cabinets SK 160

Both hot galvanized and painted cabinets are available. Green-painted pole cabinets blend in with impregnated wooden poles. Painted pole cabinets are made from hot galvanized steel plate which is painted with UV resistant powder paint in the standard color, RAL 6013. Pole cabinets are available in other RAL tones by special order. The /M under Type always refers to painted cabinets. Fully furnished pole cabinets are also available. This eases work planning, since the whole pole specic package can be ordered from one row. Furnished cabinets are available both painted and hot galvanized, with either one or two fuse boxes.
