The specimen you are submitting is intended to be displayed in the museum that will showcase specimens found in and

around Eastern Visayas. Consequently, the museum will be opened to the public, catering to those in the primary and secondary schools. The College spent considerable amount of money in constructing not only the structure housing the collection, but more expensive are the new aluminium display cabinets-almost P500,000. We wont allow any substandard specimen to be part of disseminating scientific information to its prospective visitors.

COMMON GROUNDS FOR REJECTION OF SPECIAL PROJECT


SPECIMEN Incorrect Scientific Name Damaged specimen, inc. those with missing parts, broken appendages, cracked carapace, etc. Buoyant or floating specimen Duplication with other students Not proportionate (Size too large or too small for container, base, or case) Presentation of specimen, e.g. fully stretched fins for fishes, wings for insects, mirror-like positioning of legs Incorrect placement or positioning of specimen BOTTLE Wrong bottle (existing plastic bottles in the museum will soon be replaced) Leaking (make sure not to remove the thick cardboard serving as seal underneath the cap) Rundown cap (avoid buying new bottles, but at least make sure not to submit worn out containers) PRESERVATIVE Colored preservative due to leaching of specimens natural color...should be colorless; Turbid preservative brought about by the reaction of the specimen with its preservative, oftentimes due to mishandling (decaying) of specimen Incorrect preservative level (should reach up to the middle portion of cap) Weak Concentration (at least 70% for alcohol; 10% for formalin) LABEL Incomplete information Incorrect font type, size, and alignment Different sequence of Data, e.g. Tacloban City, Brgy.
