Have everyone get a {sturdy} paper plate and place it on their head. Using a marker or pen each person is to draw what they are instructed to without looking. Remember *NO peeking!* Once everything has been drawn, you can reveal your masterpiece to everyone around you. I am sure this is sure to cause a few laughs! Add up your points based on the rubric below to determine the winner. You may want to give the winner some kind of prize too! Here is what to draw: 1. Draw a line for a floor. 2. Draw a Christmas Tree. Add decorations if you feel so inclined. 3. Draw a star on top of your tree. 4. Draw a fireplace with a mantel next to the tree. 5. Draw a stocking hanging from the mantel of your fireplace. 6. Draw a present below the tree. Rubric for the Plate Game: 1. 2 points if the tree touches the floor. 2. 2 points if your stocking is touching your mantel. 3. 1 point if your star touches your tree. 4. 1 point if your star is above your tree. 5. 1 point for every Christmas ornament ball that is ON your tree, etc. 6. 1 point if your fireplace doesnt touch the tree (its a fire hazard!). 7. 1 point if you actually drew something decorative on your stocking (or something cute, like a tiny kitten peeking out). 8. 2 points if your present is under your tree. Instructions: Young and old alike enjoy this game, and can be created using common Christmas items you can find in your household. 1. Take a soft Christmas stocking and fill it with holiday items. Guests will need to feel the items from the outside of the stocking, so make sure it is one that is squishy such as a knit or felt. 2. Use items such as candy cane, glass ball ornament, pine cone, candle, jingle bell, mitten, scotch tape, ribbon, small square of wrapping paper, holly, etc. 3. Count the number of objects you have. 4. Tie the stocking closed on the top to prevent peeking! 5. During the party, pass the stocking around the room and give everyone a piece of paper. 6. Tell your guests how many objects are in the stocking and have them write down all of their guesses. 7. Have them pass their paper to the person on their left. 8. Pull out the objects one by one.
9. After you are finished, have guests call out funny answers that people made. 10. The guest with the most correct is the winner! Tips: 1. You can use large thermal socks if you dont have a knit or felt Christmas stocking to use. 2. Do a test first. Put the objects in the stocking and make sure after feeling, that you can mostly guess the objects are. 3. Have a couple small prizes handy for the winner! - See more at: http://www.ornamentshop.com/xmas_trivia/xmas_games.asp?game=STOCKINGGAME#st hash.21sCqe0g.dpuf MATCHING LYRICS
Instructions: This is a wonderful game for a gift exchange party in which the gifts could be for any guest, such as a grab bag. It gets everyone involved. 1. Count the number of guests that will be attending.
2. Cut strips of paper. One for each guest. 3. Choose popular Christmas carols that everyone knows and take one line from one of these and write it on one strip of paper. On the next strip of paper write the name of the carol. For instance: One piece of paper has With a corncob pipe and a button nose and on another piece of paper has Frosty the Snowman. 4. Throw all pieces of paper into a Santa hat. 5. As each guest arrives, they pull out a piece of paper from the hat and tape it on their gift. 6. When it comes time for the gift exchange, each guest holds the gift that they brought. 7. Going around in a circle, those with the lyrics on their package call out their lyric. Everyone guesses the song that it belongs to, and whoever has the song title on their package does the exchange with the lyric, until all are finished. Tips: 1. If you are playing with adults, choose more obscure lyrics to encourage discussion and make it more difficult. 2. Choose easy songs for children. 3. If you have an odd number of people, use two lyrics from the same song and have the three people exchange gifts. 4. It is always a good idea to have a few extra songs and lyrics just in case of unexpected guests. Keep those on the side and do not put them in the hat unless needed. Otherwise there will be a lyric without a match! 5.
