Notes from the Pastor: Souper Friday this March 28
th
at 6:30PM at Saint Michael Hall in Girard!
The first Souper Friday we have in Arma was successful in the sense that those who attended experi-
enced being spiritually enriched! Thank you to those who came to the Saint Joseph Souper Friday,
those who prepared soup, and for the Arma Altar society for their help. The Saint Michael Souper
Friday will be another opportunity for us to have a personal sacrifice and to reflect on our calling to
grow in charity towards our brothers and sisters especially those with disabilities more than others.
In case you dont realize it, we all have disabilities, we just differ in degree. All are invited to come!
Easter Vigil is fast coming and by then our five catechumens by the grace of God will receive the
sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. One catechumen will have her mar-
riage convalidated meaning they are already married civilly but their marriage needs to be blessed
by the Church! This month and before then they will continue with the discernment process. Some
of you may not be familiar with it, but it should be an ongoing process for all of us especially during
this season of Lent.
What is the discernment process and why do you need it? The process is to determine where the
person is in his/her faith and if he/she is ready to move forward either as RCIA catechumen or al-
ready baptized. These are the basic questions for discernment among RCIA catechumens (with the
help of their sponsors and other people) which is the same for all the baptized in our journey this
Lent:
Has your lifestyle changed? (Repentance, through exposure to the gospel and living
accordingly? Or have you undergone conversion in mind and action?
Have you turned to God in prayer more frequently and regularly?
Do you embrace all that Jesus demands of us?

That Man is You will be hosting a fish fry on Friday, April 4th from 5:30pm-
7:00pm. Free will donation.

St. Joseph Table
St. Bridgets Parish is once again hosting a St. Joseph Table on Sunday,
March 23rd from 11am to 2pm in the Faith and Family Center. Entrees in-
clude: Spaghetti & Meatballs*Lasagna*Polenta*Stuffed Cabbage Seafood
Pasta Shell*Sausage & More. Each meal comes with salad, Bruschetta, Gar-
lic Bread, and home-made dessert. Cost is $12 per person (full menu); $6 per
child 12 & under; $2.00 per child 6 & under. We hope you will join us!

Hail, Full of Grace; the Lord is with Thee.
This coming Tuesday, March 25, the Church celebrates the Annunciation
of Our Lord, the day that the Son of God was made Man in the womb of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. The Angel, Gabriel, announced to her, Hail, full of
Grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed are thou among women. Mary was
stunned, but the angel went on: Do not be afraid, Mary, for thou hast found
grace with God. And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring
forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus. Mary was also told that
Elizabeth, her cousin, had also conceived and was in her 6th month. She
would bear a son, who would be John, the Baptist.
Hail is a greeting which was customary among Middle Easterners, mean-
ing health, an expression of well-wishing. Notice that the angel called her
full of grace rather than Mary, for grace refers in general to the condition
of a soul in favor with God. Mary had been free from all sin since her own
conception, accomplished through Gods providence, and so, she was full of
Grace or sinless. We, the Church, refer to her as our life, our sweetness,
and our hope.
As to the angels request, Mary answered, How can this be, since I do not
know man? Note the term, KNOW. Recall in Scripture, know refers to
sexual knowing. How could she become a mother and still be a virgin? The
angel answered her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee and the power of
the Most High shall overshadow thee. Mary replied, Behold the handmaid
of the Lord be it done to me according to thy word. At that moment, the
Incarnation was accomplished. The Son of God became man. According to
St. Johns Gospel, the Word was made flesh. God was united to human
nature in Marys womb, which some church scholars call the first Holy
Communion.
The Annunciation is detailed in the first Joyful Mystery of the rosary. The
great mystery is also commemorated daily by the Angelus, a prayer said by
Catholics morning, noon, and night at the ringing of the Angelus bell at
6:00a.m., 12 noon, and 6:00p.m. If youre not familiar with the 1st Joyful
Mystery of the rosary or the Angelus Prayer, take time to learn about them.
Most of us have heard the Angelus bell ring each day here at St. Josephs at
the stated times.
The Incarnation is the greatest act of humility ever accomplished because
the Son of God voluntarily took on our human nature with all of its weak-
nesses. He saddled Himself with a human body that could feel sickness and
pain, and with a human soul that would cause Him agony. He was like us in
all things except Sin. He took on our human frailties just to redeem us which
makes Jesus first a Savior and then a teacher. He is a Savior who came to
save us from our sins. He assumed our guilt as His own to redeem us and that
is why He was silent before Pilate; He was taking our place. We got into sin
through Eves NO to God. We should work toward saying YES to him and to
His Will each day of our lives. Start Tuesday at St. Josephs with Stations,

and faith he/she practices daily, thats also the same de-
mands for all of us Christians. Thats why their journey is
also everybodys journey. Because we believe, we need to
learn more of God, and to pray more and worship Him
more deeply, and finally move us into action to proclaim
His gospel to the rest of humanity in words and witness!

after the station will be a Theological Reflection and Dia-
logue to be led by Marcel Normand. He will focus on the
topic: Making Lent A Winner: Being Sorry Isnt
Enough! Those of you who dont know Marcel, he is a
convert himself during the time of Fr. Reinkemeyer. Since
then he has fallen in love with our Catholic Faith. Being a
retired teacher but not tired of learning, he has never
stopped studying our faith including the lives of the
Saints. He regularly writes a column for our bulletin on
various topics. He is truly another blessing for our parish-
es. Please come and join us this Tuesday!

Michaels Hall on April 4

Attention all altar servers and Fourth Graders who want to
be altar servers. Altar servers meeting and training this
April 6
th
, Sunday, right after the 10AM Mass. RSVP
regrets only - current or new altar servers should call the parish
office if you cannot come!
Finally, in regards to Saturday confession at Saint Michael in
Girard: our time schedule is 2PM to 2:45PM. Most of the times,
many people come exactly at 2PM and some even earlier! In
most cases, after 2:30PM I am tempted to leave for Arma as there
is no one around after that! But I am told a few days ago that
there are a few who come at 2:30 and I am no longer at the con-
fession and so miss making their confessions. I apologize for
that. But to avoid confusion some people made this suggestion
and I believe it would be better to shorten the schedule of confes-
sion from 2:00 to 2:30. In that case some people will have to
consider coming earlier and I will not be in a rush to go to Arma
and prepare for their confession and mass. So this change will be
effective starting next Saturday, March 29
th
! Also, in weekends,
that I am not around and another priest is coming to say the mass,
like this Saturday of the pilgrimage, there will be no 2PM confes-
sion. You may ask the priest to hear your confession after the
5:30 mass. Thank you for your understanding and God bless you
