The teacher displays a short video on greetings The students are asked to identify the things that one can do when they meet someone The teacher discuss about the video with the students

EXPLANATION 20 MINUTES

The teacher explains what is greetings and shows some of the example of greetings The teacher teaches the students on the use of WH questions, in the simple present tense form The teacher specifies the all 7 WH question that could be used by the students and asks them randomly to come up with simple sentences for starting a conversation

Rationale: The students will be able recall the use of WH questions by the students with the correct simple tense.

PRACTISE 20 MINUTES Rationale: The teacher shows a set of different situations that would be a topic of conversation between the students Power point slide

The student is familiarised in using the WH questions correctly and appropriately in making a conversation. The students would have to be able to coin their questions according to the given situations.

In a group of 4, the teacher assigns each group with a topic of conversation to be discussed Example: Weather/Holiday/Vacation The students are required to come up with a small script conversing about their topic assigned. The teacher picks out few groups to role play a simple conversation based on the script that they came up with. The teacher reminds them to use variety of greetings taught earlier in their role-play, together with appropriate gesture of greetings, as shown in the video.

PRODUCTION 30 MINUTES Rationale:

The students are able to express with proper gestures in greeting someone and maintaining conversation with them. CLOSURE 5 MINUTES Rationale: To conclude and recall the lesson -

The teacher recalls back on the lesson of the day, emphasising the how to properly greet and converse with someone.
