BACKGROUND
The Hotel, Restaurant and nstitution !anagement &rogram of the 4ollege of Home @conomics, #ni$ersity of the %hili&&ines1'iliman is an integration of general education courses, functional management courses and technical courses to train to student in the as&ects of management of hotels, restaurants, and other related institutions( The four1year curriculum aims to ,uild leaders with the &roducti$ity, com&etency, and right $alues to ma8e it in the industry( !anagement( t is a three1 )ne of the courses under the &rogram is the HR ! 10A/ .ood and 3e$erage !anagement unit lecture and la,oratory course designed to train students in &roduction, customer relations, e$ent organi7ation, and management in a food1oriented ,usiness setting( As such, the culminating acti$ity of its la,oratory com&onent is the function( These are held during the first semester of the academic year( +tudents are e5&ected to &re&are and organi7e an e$ent of their own/ a function with a uni9ue theme, conce&t and menu that they themsel$es will de$elo& under the su&er$ision of the nstructor( Though it is the studentsB first taste of the real world, it has ,een consistently successful for the &ast years( t is now an antici&ated e$ent in the college, attended ,y students, faculty mem,ers, family and friends(

ABOUT THE FUNCTION

-.ood for the +eoul/ +im&ly Hea$enly Afternoon 'elights0 is an idea ,orn out of the desire to e5&lore and learn a,out another countryBs culture through their culinary &ractices( The team wanted to choose a country in Asia ,ut one with cuisine $ery unli8e our own( Thus we settled on +outh 2orea, a country in @ast Asia familiar to most .ili&inos due to the rise of 21%o& and 2orean teleno$elas( t then ,ecame a goal to introduce a different side of +outh 2orea, away from the glit7 and glam of their music scene, o,li$ious to their new found status in the international scene( We wanted to show another face of their ca&ital city +eoul, one that is not ,usy and hectic ,ut instead ha&&y and fun 1 the way it used to ,e drawn on old wooden mats( .or within the s&rawling city of +eoul lies their 9uiet gardens filled with lush greens and flowers of many 8inds( t is a rela5ing oasisC a laid1,ac8 ha$en to retreat to while the world remains chaotic on the outside( This is where we will ta8e our guests/ to the &erfect $enue for an afternoon of warming the heart and soothing the soul, for en"oying a delightful meal and sharing stories with good friends( +im&ly Hea$enly Afternoon 'elights( This is .ood for the +eoul( +eoul(
