Professor Lisa Grimble February 18, 2014 Nakayla Reese Human Resources as a career

I am writing this memo to inform you of my future career field that I have chosen to go into. The career field that I have chosen to research is Human Resources. The research I have done and will be explaining later on in the memo gives brief information on the field of Human Resources along with a brief interview summary of an individual who is in Human Resources. The Human Resources field is very broad in what I can do concerning the job that I would want and the level of education that is required. To obtain an entry level job in Human Resources the education that is required is an associate or undergraduate degree. The higher my education level, the more likely I am to move up in positions along with experience. There are many different career options in the field of Human Resources. Those careers are: Generalist, Specialist, Recruiter, HR Manager, Director of HR, and the Vice President of HR. As stated before, the higher the education and experience that you have with Human Resources, the higher you can go in positions. The beginning salary of a HR Generalist is $60,294 and the salary of an HR Manager begins at $99,720. Some of the responsibilities that come with jobs in Human Resources are recruiting, setting up interviews, involved in the hiring and termination process, and also handling employee relations amongst other things. The job outlook for Human Resources is 13% to grow from 2012 to 2022. To get a glimpse of what a day in the life of a actual Human Resources Manager, I conducted an interview with Danita Reese, Senior HR Manager of Panasonic Automotive. Danita has a Bachelors of Science in Human Resources and she has 21 years of experience. A typical day for Danita consists of conference calls, meetings, completing projects, and managing a staff of over 300 people. One thing she appreciates about working at Panasonic Automotive is that she is exposed to diversity through out the company. In conclusion, I hope you have learned a good amount of information about my future career in Human Resources. When I graduate with my Bachelors degree in Business, I plan on pursuing my Masters degree to obtain better opportunities in the field.
