4. SUMMARY
This Technical Support Note provides information about the new version of Flexi System External OVP (FSEC) 471397A.104. With FSEC version 471397A.104, Nokia Siemens Networks introduces a new supplier for the Flexi System External OVP. The introduction of a new supplier will be visible to Customers, as the internal connections of Flexi System OVP are different to existing suppliers.

5. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The Flexi System External OVP (FSEC) gives Class II (C, T2) protection against surge pulses for Flexi WCDMA BTS in the DC power feeding lines. Nokia Siemens Network added a new supplier for the FSEC. Both products are separated from each other by the factory codes; 6Y and E4. Because the internal connections of FSEC from factory codes 6Y and E4 look different, the appropriate wiring instructions are shown for both types in the Flexi WCDMA Base Station, Rel. Flexi WBTS5.0 Product Documentation. The factory code label is attached inside the lid of the FSEC.

6. SOLUTION / INSTRUCTIONS 6.1 HW and SW Compatibility

The Flexi System External OVP (FSEC) version 471397A.104 is compatible to all Flexi WCDMA BTS modules. The following two mounting kits are available for the FSEC: Flexi Mounting Auxiliary Brackets (FMAA, 471657A) for stack installations Flexi Pole Installation Kit (FPIA, 471767A) for pole and wall installations These Flexi mounting kits can be used with both factory codes.

FSEC is not dependent on Node B software release

6.2 Impact to BTS System

The new FSEC version 471397A.104 does not affect the electrical performance of the Flexi WCDMA BTS modules. The FSEC version 471397A.104 gives Class II (C, T2) protection against surge pulses for Flexi WCDMA BTS in DC power feeding lines as well as the previous versions of FSEC. The new FSEC version does not impact the system performance or the end user.

6.3 Impact to Operations and Maintenance

Because the internal connections of FSEC from factory codes 6Y and E4 look different, the appropriate wiring instructions are shown for both versions separately. Following figures show the wiring for FSEC with factory codes 6Y and E4. Figure 2 shows the DC cable connection to FSEC. The other end of that cable is connected to the Flexi Module.
