One-Pager Report

A one-pager is assigned to promote thoughtful appreciation and understanding of a piece of fiction. The more creative you allow yourself to be, the more you will get out of it! One-pagers are meant to be creative, thoughtful, and expressive. This allows you to make connections to the text! You have two options. You may either use unlined 8 x 11 paper or the app Thing Link. Required Information on both options Include your proper heading! Write the title of the short story and the authors name. Pull out a minimum of two important quotes and cite them using page numbers. Explain why the quotations are significant. (This quote is important because) One meaningful question that you have about the reading. Try to use higher level thinking questions. (if you dont know what this means, then look it up) Include answers. Identify a theme that is present in the story. Remember a theme is written as a sentence. A main graphic or image that symbolizes the story. A minimum of three additional graphics or images that represent the mood, tone, or characters.

For the PAPER option: You must fill the entire page. No computer images Be artistic with your wordswrap them around, slant them, weave themlet your artistic side show! The more creative your become, the more you will think and learn! You may use color or keep the whole paper black and white.

The iPad THING LINK option: You must include a link to information connecting to the story. Link can be an article, a video, or another website. You must include a song that represents the tone of the story (The tone of a literary work is the perspective or attitude that the author adopts with regards to a specific character, place or development. Tone can portray a variety of emotions ranging from solemn, grave, and critical to witty, wry and humorous. Tone helps the reader ascertain the writers feelings towards a particular topic and this in turn influences the readers understanding of the story.) Use the video link to attach a Youtube Video of a song. If this does not work, we will come up with an alternate option. Rubric for Paper Option 1. Minimum of two important quotes cited with page numbers. 2. Thorough explanation of why the quotes are important. 3. One high-level thought question with a thoughtful answer included. 4. Properly identified theme. 5. Properly chosen main graphic that symbolizes the story. 6. Minimum of three additional images/graphics that represent mood, tone or character. 7. Entire page is neatly and creatively filled with elements from the story that show thought and creativity. 8. Grading Scale: A=100-93 Comments: B=92-85 C=84-77 D=76-70 F=69 and below
