OUR CELEBRATION FOR
OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY
has had to be put back from her Feast [7th]
until the 25th October
when we shall have Rosary & Benediction
at 4.pm at St.Felix
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY. The parish party night will be on
Saturday 5th December, 7pm for 7.30pm. A raffle will be held on the night
and donated to the Bishop's Cambodian Appeal. More details later.
FROM CHURCHES TOGETHER ON FELIXSTOWE
AGM, 13th OCTOBER, 2009
There is a group of Christians from the different churches which
meets together to pray for the town and people of Felixstowe and they
are inviting everyone to drop in and join them in prayer at the “River of
Life”
coffee-shop on Hamilton Road on Monday, 9th November for as long as
you want between 10 and 11.30am.
“Town Pastors” ... are Christian volunteers trained in first-aid and
safety who patrol the town centre and potential problem areas. They in-
teract with the people who are out there late at night giving assistance to
get people home safely and to defuse potential problems. They are well
trained and work closely with the police and the local council, supported
by a dedicated prayer-team. They have had considerable success in re-
ducing crime in Woodbridge. With the support of Churches Together a
similar team of Town Pastors for Felixstowe is proposed and hopefully
will be running by next summer. There will be meetings coming up in
the various churches around town where we will be able to more about
this venture and how we can support it with prayer and perhaps practical
action.
The Parish Nursing Team currently based in Maidstone Road Baptist
Church has been very successful and won a national “Faithworks”
award in 2009. They are hoping to expand their services and at the end
of October will launch “Hospital to Home, a team of twelve trained vol-
unteers who will assist elderly people who live alone when they are dis-
charged from hospital to go home to Felixstowe and need help. Angela
