Geography Major (BA)

Pre-Major Requirements: 3 credits GEG 100 OR GEG 101 World Regional Geography 3 credits Introduction to Geography 3 credits

Major Requirements: 39-43 credits In addition to the pre-major requirement, 39-43 credits in political science, including 16 credits at the 300-level or above, Students must take four required courses and two Topics courses, one Regional course, and one Environmental course, selected from the choices below. Geography majors will be required to maintain a 2.5 GPA. Required Courses: 11-15 credits

In the major, a total of 27-31 credits accrue from the above 8 required courses. An additional twelve credits should be chosen from among the other Geography courses. Two courses (8 credits out of the 12 credits) may be taken outside of Geography with the permission of the Geography major advisor. These courses might be offered in the disciplines of History; Economics; Philosophy; African American Studies; Political Science; Geology; Womens, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Sociology; or Anthropology. Furthermore, up to 4 credits (out of the 12 credits) may be completed as an independent study with a CSI faculty member based upon a topic approved by the Geography major advisor.
