A Christmas Carol

By Charles Dickens

Review

Oh my! Scrooge really was a grumpy old man. He was greedy, meanspirited and had no friends. At least after his business partner, Jacob Marley died. Ebenezer Scrooge was the main character in the novel A Christmas Carol. The Christmas Carol was first published back in the 1900s. Im going to be reviewing A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, and Im taking you with me.

A Christmas Carol includes 4 main characters: Scrooge, the Ghost of

Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Future/Yet to Come. In the first part of the novel we got introduced to Scrooges old friends ghost Marley that warned Scrooge about the 3 upcoming ghosts. Next the Ghost of Christmas Past came to Scrooge and took him into the past. First the ghost took Scrooge to an old Christmas party that Scrooge had went to, when he was still an apprentice. Scrooge saw all of the people happy dancing around, and he saw his old mentor again Mr.Fizzywig. Second the ghost took Scrooge to a time he wanted to forget when his fianc broke up with him. When the Ghost of Christmas Past finally dropped Scrooge back off at his house, he thought about how happy the people from the party looked, and what his fianc had said. Not long after Scrooge was visited by the Ghost of Christmas Present. The Ghost of Christmas Present took Scrooge to 2 places just as the first ghost did. The ghost took Scrooge to his nephew Freds house, where he saw his nephew and his nephews friends making fun of him and mocking him. Then he brought him to his store clerks household, Bob Cratchit. What Scrooge saw in that house made his heart feel a little lighter. What Scrooge saw were more the 7 people at one tiny table. Even though there was barely any food there they still made sure everybody got some. Was that not enough? Apparently not because then in walked/limped Tiny Tim. After Scrooge saw Tiny Tim he didnt want to see anymore. Once home again, Scrooge was visited by the final ghost the Ghost

of Christmas Future/Yet to Come. The ghost took Scrooge to a room where he saw all the business men he usually does business with. Scrooge was a little slow in not knowing that he wasnt there, so the ghost took him to an old shop in a rundown place. This is where Scrooge saw his employees selling his stuff at a pawn. Then to make matters worse the ghost took him to his own grave. Where it finally came to him that he was dead. In Conclusion I think that the novel A Christmas Carol By Charles Dickens about Ebenezer Scrooge, was a heart wrenching story thats makes me want to see the movie. The novel showed how Scrooge grew, and became a better man. It showed how Scrooge turned from a heart of stone to a heart of gold.
