Getting Started
#< lets get started. 2e$ore %e can build a %ebsite %e need to do the initial con$iguration. Don=t %orry it %on=t ta)e you long. 3irst o$ all you need to decide %hat your site %ill be about. The following are probably the most important steps and vital for the end res lt! so pay attention" 'hat you need to create:

Thesaurus / Custom Thesaurus

Hou can do%nload the re-uired dictionary and thesaurus $or all maCor languages on the $ollo%ing %ebsite: http://wi$i.services.openoffice.org/wi$i/'ictionaries 2y de$ault the Rnglish and "erman dictionary as %ell as thesauri are included as exam&le. he >Synonymi*e allA $unction %ill try to synonymi*e almost every %ord Mall bigger than 2 charsN and is best used $or S&ider$ood only.

Default Thesaurus:
'hen using the thesaurus( you can de$ine %hich terms you &re$er to use $or synonymi*ation i.e. 'hen you o&en the Rnglish thesaurus MthSenS7SSv2.datN you can see that the %ords are mar)ed %ith >generic termA or >similar termA. he de$ault should be only >generic termA and you select that by %riting the de$inition in the >S&eci$ic ermA text box( in this case >Mgeneric termNA. +$ you %ould only %ant similar terms( then obviously you %ould enter >Msimilar termNA. his had to be done to su&&ort multi&le languages %ithout having to load every language there is. So %hen you use another language( o&en the thesaurus .dat $ile $irst and chec) %hich terms you %ould li)e and ho% it is called in that language. 3or exam&le in "erman you %ould enter >Mumgangss&rachlichNA instead o$ >Mgeneric termNA. he 2lac)list $ield is $or certain synonyms that you %ant to avoid.

Custom Thesaurus:
Hou also have the o&tion to create a custom thesaurus database. +n order to do that( you Cust have to $ollo% a $e% easy ste&s. 3irst you need to create a ne% text $ile. .all it something li)e Amythsesaurus.txtQ and &ut it in the AthesQ $older. #&en it and enter a list o$ )ey%ords along %ith synonyms in the $ollo%ing $ormat: original word(synonym)(synonym*(synonym+(... e.g.: website(webpage(site(page(webdoc ment he $irst %ord is al%ays the one you %ant to synonymi*e. Rach occurrence o$ this &articular %ord %ill be re&laced %ith a randomly selected synonym. Templates
em&lates $or A!"# content are easily created. Rither you create them manually in a / 01 Mor textN editor( modi$y an existing theme such as a 'ord&ress theme( or you use the built,in .SS "enerator %hich %ill also give you a basic / 01 that is ready to use. All you=ll have to do is &ut in the &laceholders %here you %ant them to be. 5o &rogramming )no%ledge re-uired( not even / 01( although it certainly hel&s you( it is no re-uirement to success$ully o&erate this so$t%are. A!"# content comes %ith over D0 tem&lates ready $or you to use( %ithout the need o$ such modi$ications. here are &lenty o$ di$$erent layouts and even u& to date / 018 and .SSD tem&lates( so everytCing is already ta)en care o$ $or you. #$ course you can modi$y the existing themes $or your o%n &ur&oses. Some o$ the themes have a license.txt included as they are release under a .. license. 2e sure to ta)e a loo)( be$ore using a &articular theme( some have limited restrictions( but most o$ the time you are $ree to use them $or anything you li)e.

Building a Template manually:

+n order to create your o%n tem&late you basically only have to $ollo% a $e% sim&le ste&s. 3irst is to create the / 01 and .SS design o$ your 'ebsite. A!"# content needs a main .SS $ile and a / 01 tem&late. hen ma)e sure that all images you use $or the tem&late are in the same $older %ith no sub,directories inside. A!"# content has 2 image directories 1. the main image directory $or the &ictures that %ill be &ut inside the content and 2. an additional $older inside a selected theme $older that holds the &ictures used $or the theme layout. 2ecause o$ that A!"# content %ill create a main AimageQ $older and &ut the content images in there. hen it %ill create a Sub,directory Aimages4themeQ and co&y the needed images $or the theme layout into that $older. his may seem a bit con$using as you have an image $older in the theme directory that %ill later be renamed to Aimages4theme4Q and so yo have to ma$e s re that in the @T20 template for yo r theme! all images are referenced with Dimages/theme/E instead of only Dimages/E 9 he next thing you need to do is &ut in the &laceholders in the a&&ro&riate &laces inside the / 01 tem&late and you are good to go. 3inally you need to save your $iles into the tem&late $older Mor any%here you %antN. 3or exam&le you create the directory >my,tem&lateA and save your / 01 to >my,tem&late,html.txtA. #nce that is done( you save your .SS as >my,css.txtA. 0a)e sure the main .SS is re$erenced in the tem&late / 01 as Acss4style.cssQ. 3inally co&y your AimageQ and4or A$ilesQ Directory into the >my,tem&lateA $older. hat=s it( no% you can load your tem&late into A!"# content9 o get a better understanding on ho% to build your o%n theme( have a loo) at one o$ the included de$ault themes. +$ you )no% basic / 014.SS it should be very easy $or you to $igure out.

Modifying existing Themes:

+$ you %ant to use any existing themes you only need to slightly modi$y the $ile structure. .o&y the main .SS $ile and / 01 tem&late Musually index.htmlN to a ne% directory. hen save all the used images into a single directory as %ell Muse %get9N. CSS Generator
A!"# content comes %ith a built,in .SS generator to create sim&le hemes automatically. +$ you are in a hurry or don=t %ant to mess %ith designs you can create randomi*ed themes %ith the clic) o$ a button until you have a design that you enCoy. Although its not very com&lex yet( it can give some very nice results. +n u&coming versions %e=ll u&date the $unctionality to create more advanced themes. .urrently you can choose to have the usual layout elements such as a header( $ooter and multi&le sidebars. he colors can be mixed u& in various %ays and are randomi*ed. 'hen you hit the >"enerateA 2utton a &revie% %indo% %ill a&&ear %ere you can see a &revie% o$ the heme. 1eave the &revie% o&en and continue to hit >"enerateA to )ee& seeing ne% designs $ast. +$ you li)e a theme that you have generated( sim&ly hit the >Save as em&lateA button and its saved into the Atem&latesQ $older. 2y the %ay( once you generated a theme( you can see its .SS code on the right. Hou can a&&ly custom changes inside the textbox and clic) the A!eload .SSQ button to see the u&dated version o$ the theme. +nstead o$ randomly generating the colors( you also have the ability to select each color manually through a color &ic)er( i$ you clic) the A.ustom .olorsQ button. 3or the bac)ground A!"# content %ill either select a color( or one o$ the bac)ground images located in the a&&lication directory under Aimages4bg4Q.

he so$t%are comes %ith a state o$ the art 'eb Scra&er that is able to &arse %ebsites and remove un%anted tags( scri&t code and other garbage in order to obtain the clean text. o do this( it is using a combination o$ O6ath and .V regular ex&ressions. A!"# content gives you the ability to modi$y the existing O6ath &atterns and combine them %ith o%n regex. hat %ay you have endless &ossibilities o$ &arsing %ebsites in a &ro$essional $orm( unli)e many other scra&ers that only rely on hardcoded regex to &arse sites. 6arsing %ebsites %ith regex isn=t all that hard( but the &roblem is mal$ormed or non standard / 01 code in the %ild. o solve this issue O&ath is used and combined %ith regex should give you a clean out&ut in almost all cases. Advanced users may edit or create their o%n O&ath and !egex syntax9

Xpath:
O&ath is a syntax $or de$ining &arts o$ an O01 document and is used to navigate through its elements and attributes. +n order to obtain only the text $rom a / 01 document( O&ath can be used to &arse the document $or certain tags such as a &aragra&h and return only the clear text inside. O&ath is usually a better solution as using regular ex&ressions only. A!"# content comes %ith a $e% &re de$ined values that you can use or modi$y to &arse text $rom %ebsites. Regex:
A regular ex&ression or in short AregexQ is basically a %ay $or &attern matching in strings such as re&lacing or removing &articular %ords( character combinations or s&ecial characters. +$ you haven=t %or)ed %ith any regex yet( you can $ind some good tutorials. +$ you %or)ed %ith di$$erent ty&es o$ regex( you might %ant to -uic)ly read some 0A5 &ages about the .shar& regex syntax. he re&lacement regex in the scra&er uses t%o $ields. 3irst the re&lacement syntax e.g. AUI.WUJQ $ollo%ed by the second $ield( the match evaluator that is used to de$ine %hat the data should be re&laced to in case a match has been $ound. 1eave this $ield em&ty to remove data com&letely( or insert re&lacement data. his is basically calling the !egex.!e&laceMN $unction o$ .shar&( so $or more detail &lease consult 0SD5. &ote" Hou can also use it as -uic) Asearch X re&laceQ %ithout any syntax.
