The tonal quality of the new C. Bechstein B 212 grand piano model fascinates from start to finish. The
engineering of this piano is based upon the superb qualities of the C 234 and D 282 concert grand
pianos. The design of the sound board, its ribs, their form and positioning as well as their joint with
one another, and then their joint together with the bridge, is in total the element of the sound body
with utmost resilience. This resilient body is supported firmly by the rim and cabinet. A further vital
element is the elegantly shaped new frame made of the best materials thus warranting a controlled
and high speed of energy transfer.
In total, this sound body can vibrate even more freely, with practically total conservation of energy
in the cycle of touch-play-tone-production. Of course, only a few elements of the engineering secrets
can be divulged. However, it is the sum of innumerable factors combined which render the sonority

finish with a variety of mahogany veneers. The variety of sublime veneers is vast, the selection of
beautiful cases herein illustrated are only examples. However, we would like to point out that the
finest veneers are shown to their best advantage on the small to medium-sized grand pianos (such as
L 167 or MP 192), on account of their balanced proportions.

Many consider the Concert 8 the best upright piano in the world.
The radically re-engineered Concert 8 concert upright piano adopts the fundamental construction
principles of the current concert grand production. The soundboard and the frame have been com-
pletely redesigned. The playing experience has been additionally rened with the expansion of the
total length of the keyboard, with optimized key levers and with further modications of the action.
The Concert 8 affords a greatly nuanced performance and its tone considerably outshines many a
grand piano from other manufacturers. Its singing, sustained tone, unfurling in beautiful balance in

The VARIO-system combines a classic upright piano with many features of a digital piano.

Key to the value of this system is that the touch-response is the same, because you are playing on a
traditional action. Muting makes this possible: You can play the piano whenever you want, and for as
long as you want. After you touch a key, the mechanism stops the hammer before it hits the string.
Sensors convert the acceleration and impact of touch into digitalized piano sounds. You will hear
a genuine piano tone. The stored sound was recorded in stereo from a real acoustic instrument and
then digitalized. This system is a perfect addition for professionals with long practice sessions. There
are numerous ways of combining it with other music sources, sound generators and amplifiers. A
small box beneath the keyboard contains additional connections for loudspeakers, a stereo system or
a CD player, should you wish to play along to a concert, for example.
Multimedia: A synthesizer, an expander and many other devices can be connected via the MIDI con-
nection in the form of a command transmitter, and the data from your playing can be transmitted to
a suitably equipped computer. A USB port is included.
Sound body/ the upright piano back.

The sturdy piano back, the so called spine of the piano, is made mainly of select pine wood. This
structure not only fulfills the essential task of supporting string tension together with the cast iron
frame, in fact it plays a major role in the tonal spectrum of the piano and its character in all its registers.
The back or supporting wooden structure of the concert 8 sound body is indeed unique in its engineer-
ing and dimensions, in some aspects clearly and directly related to the concert grand pianos.
