That was the type of conversation that the reporter had with the member of the Golden
Dawn (extreme right party in Greece), while all the journalist was seeing was fascist symbols the
Greek him was seeing national items.
This situation is very ambiguous, and this is why I want to focus today on southern European
countries like Greece and Italy.
Since the crisis ravaged Europe, old ghost seem to rise again. History will repeat because humans

(France, England, Italy and of course Germany) leading to high tension and finally a war causing

several economies. Five years later several nations are still with a knee on the ground.
The unemployment and the poverty leads people to revolt and have reactionary attitudes,
mostly nationalist, or anarchist. The actual difference between the two is that the State gives more
credit to the nationalists rather than the anarchists. A government in times of crisis will always find
solution in the Extreme right of his parliament Anarchist during the Greeks riots Greece is a
country that saw its economy collapsing in a very short amount of time, leaving many Greeks
shocked, wondering what to do. This is how you have 18 Neo-Nazis deputies from the Golden Dawn
in the Greek parliament and 25 in total (all the conservatives but not neo-Nazis) which is almost 10%
of the Greek parliament. The expectations for the next elections give even better scores to the far
right.
This situation is very problematic, because the government tends to give more and more legitimacy
to the extreme right; because of this more people feel that Neo-Nazism is now legitimate to save
Greece. Every crisis has its scapegoat and in Greece like in Italy, the culprits are found to be the
immigrants. Public lynching take place in Athens, discussion in cafs are all about immigrants that get
free health care and dont pay taxes or even the next punitive raid in the suburbs. It is mostly
planned acts of violence made to get rid of the immigrants to clean up the Greek race.
Other acts of violence and racism can be found in Italy too where Ccile Kyenge an Italian
black deputy received many insults from conservative deputies like dirty black monkey or even had
bananas throw at her. She is the image of a growing intolerance all over Europe, nationalists look
for peoples to blame and because the immigrants (Africans, Arabs) are weak enough and do not
beneficiate from any support they are easy prey for the punitive groups.
If the situation is not put under control by the authorities, we might see in the next five years a large
shift to the right in Europe that will kill the European Union and see the creation of many
Independent conservatives states, leading up to tensions and worst case scenario, to a global war.
But at the same time we need to understand their motivations, people are tired of the governments
incapacity of solving the crisis, and for the common people feel that it is needed to cut all the
existents inefficient and corrupted structures, start from the bottom and rebuild everything. Is it the
best solution? I consider myself as a Center-Right partisan; I take example on the US that perfectly
know how to mix nationalist feelings and at the same time international relations. But unlike me
most of the people will just go to the extremes rather than being more moderate, causing bad side-
effects.
