Executive summary
I joined Masood Textile Mills Ltd Main Apparel at Sargodha as an internee from 29 OCT 2013
to 14 DEC 2013 which is 6 weeks program. During my internship, I performed certain duties in
Finance & HR Departments. During internship, I see the whole process of the Masood Textile
Mills Ltd in Main Apparel Division.
MTM is the largest knit ware manufacturing company in all over the Pakistan established since
1984 when it is entered into the textile industry, and initially started with 4 spinning mills. And
in 1995 MTM started its clothing units initially with 35 machines and started making progress
from that day till yet now turned into a unit of 1000 machines in all. With lowest possible prices
and best ever quality in all over the world MTM has an aim to be the best clothing company in
all over the world which must be recognized by others because MTM believes in their clients
philosophy and always try their best to satisfied them by all means which results in strong tied
relationships with clients and also enhances the market for MTM as well.
As we said earlier that MTM is first vertically integrated Manufacturing industry in all over the
Pakistan that is to say it has in-house all the units regarding yarn, knitting, dying, processing,
laundry and Apparel, which makes MTM a unique diversified organization in all over the
Pakistan as well. MTM Ltd is also ISO 9002 certified company. As one of the best apparel
company in the world, when it competes with the multinational apparel industries it also help to
enhance the professional as well as practical experience of its employees up to date. MTM is also
certified with Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production (WRAP) which enable MTM world
wide acceptance. MTM Ltd is multi level organization as it has its own departments that are
involved in a textile industry like spinning, knitting, processing, stitching and finishing, because
in the absence of these production process will be much costly and slowly because you have to
rely on outsourcing as well to meet the requirements to complete the chain. Main products of
MTM Ltd involve Yarn, Fabric and Garments which have got huge demand all over the world.
MT M Ltd is an Export Oriented Company which usually exports its 100% products to other
countries like USA, and many European Countries as well.MTM Ltd is uses direct and indirect
channels of distribution and regularly conduct exhibitions for the promotion of its products all
over the world. Maintaining its customers on a large scale and performing operations with latest
applicable machinery. The main Apparel Division has computerized with ETON and Hanger
system, and this division has low capacity but production rate is very high which I all due to
latest equipment and technology as well as effectiveness and efficiency with a systematic way of
workings.
As for as management of MTM ltd is concerned it is divided into two parts first one is the
management level employees and second one is non-management level employees. The actual
process is started when merchandising department receives the purchase order from the
customers, and as soon as it is received it is passed to production and control department to
formulate production planning and control to fulfill the order specification. After that raw
material is issue to production department from the store room to strat production of the items as
per the order specifications according to the plan of PPC department. As all the departments are
inter-related so they also help production department while producing department as required at
every nick and corner of the production, these departments include (HR)Human Resource,
QA(Quality Assurance), Finance departments etc.
Quality Assurance or quality control department ensures that quality of the finished product must
be 100% identical to the qualitative standards as applicable and 100% coincide with the
specifications of the customers as well. To check the quality status and standardization of the
products produced MTM Ltd uses latest Bar Code System that always makes sure the quality is
met at its best and fulfills 100% qualitative measures. It ensures 100% quality from spinning to
packing department and reduces the error rate as well, which may be left by human error. In this
system bar code is affixed on each and every product which is passed through as a finished good
to ensure that it will be tracked as required from the first stage to the last and will also be helpful
to find out the causes of delay in supply and transmission of product on time.
The main objective to present this report is that, I can observe real time processing and
manufacturing activities in the firms like MTM ltd, because it will be helpful for me to have a
grasp over practical rather than theoretical tactics and apply my knowledge in a befitting manner
during my program. Working in the field of textile industry like MTM ltd was a very great and
knowledgeable experience of my life that it will surely helpful for my in future as well.

Brief introduction of the organizations business sector
Textile sector is the backbone of every countrys economy and plays a vital role in uplifting the
economy of a country. Thats what the textile industry of Pakistan is very important. It plays key
role and have a major share in the exports of the Pakistan, and as a result contributes towards the
economy of the country with huge amount of revenues. As Pakistan is an agrarian country so it is
blessed with favorable resources as well by ALLAH PAK, on the other hand climate is also very
suitable for the agriculture so results in huge production of raw material for textile industry, and
textile sector have to import less in return due to high yield level within Pakistan.
As agro base economy raw material for textile is easily available. So it is a plus point for
Pakistan that it can easily expand its textile industry and earned revenue and decrease the level of
poverty in the country. Pakistan is the 8
th
largest Asian exporter country of textile products. The
world economic report shows that Pakistan is the largest importer of raw cotton the 3rd largest
consumer of cotton and the 1st largest exporter of cotton yarn. The Textile industry is engaging
about 38% of labor force and 6% of the management employment of the country. Textile
Industry provides employment to about 15 million people, 30% of the country Labor force of
about 49million.
There were only 6 textile units with 80,000 spindles and 3000 looms were present at the time of
independence of Pakistan. The government takes important steps to promote textile industry. As
forts Pakistan become self sufficient in the cloth requirements and then reached at the surplus
phase to export yarn and cotton fabrics. Textile Industry had been progressing satisfactory. Then
this progress goes on consistently and finally Pakistan has now more than 521 textile units with
installed capacity of 10 millions spindles and more than 114 rotors.

In the textile industry, due to recent conditions prevailing in the market and energy crisis, we are
not be able to boost our production capacity because of hurdles created by our government and
political pressure as well in the textile sector and lack of proper planning for the promotion of
that particular sector of our country. If we prevail over these problems we can easily increase our
foreign exchange reserves by prospective growth in exports.

In Pakistan, There has a total established weaving capacity of 4368 million sqr meter of fabric,
finishing capacity of 4000 million sqr meter, spinning capacity of 1550 million kgs of yarn, and
53 millions kgs of towel and capacity of 4000 millions sqr meter of more than 670 million units
of garments and in textile industry side we have 1221 units busy in ginning more than 521 units
busy in spinning, there are around 124 large units that under take weaving and 425 small units.
There are around about 20,600 power looms and 40,000 shuttles less in operation in the textile
industry. The textile industry has 45 large finishing divisions and 625 small divisions.

The contribution of textile industry to the total GDP is 8.5%. The annual worldwide textile trade
is US$18 trillion at a growth rate of 2.5 percent. Out of it, Pakistans share is less than one
percent. The development of the Manufacturing Sector has been given the highest priority since
Pakistans founding with major stress on Agro-Based Industries. For Pakistan which was one of
the leading producers of cotton in the world, the development of a Textile Industry making full
use of its abundant resources of cotton has been a priority area towards industrialization. At
present, there are 1,221 ginning units, 442 spinning units, 124 large spinning units and 425 small
units which produce textile products. The industry consists of large-scale organized sector and a
highly fragmented cottage /small-scale sector.

The textile industry of Pakistan had proved its strength in global market during the last four
decades. It has proved its strength even in post quota era by not only supporting its position but,
also showing growth during 2005 to 2007, but declined to $11.1 billion in 2008 due to financial
and economic meltdown globally. The Garment Sector & especially the Knit Garment Sector
need particular focus in future policies.

Pricing strategy
Price
Pricing is the amount at which some product is acquired. Price plays a vital role in the marketing
activities of the firm as well as the willingness or acceptance of the customers of that product,
whenever a firm decides about the pricing of its products it must have some objectives behind
rechecking again.
Pricing policies/strategies procedure of MTM
MTM is offering the price on the basis of three strategies which are as follows.
Competitive base
Customer base
Product base
Pricing is an important factor in the marketing process for any company. The price of a product
should be set in a way that it covers the basic cost of the company and produce a reasonable profit as
well to satisfy the customers and compete with competitors products as well. As for as pricing is
concerned two factors must be kept in mind;
Fixed Cost
Variable Cost
Fixed Cost
Fixed cost is the cost which remains always same irrespective of the change in production to a
specific level. So it motivates companies to utilize its full capacity rather than less because fixed cost
is going to remain same, and as soon as you produce higher capacity your fixed cost will jump
downwards
Following are important factors of fixed cost:
Overhead cost
Salaries of staff
Variable cost
Variable cost is the cost which changes with the change in the quantity but in per unit it remains
the same. Following are including in the variable cost:
cost of raw material
Transportation
Price fixing Strategies
MTM sells directory to their customer at their doorstep and then price component are as follows:
Fixed cost + Variable cost + Desired profit = Price of Product
The profit margin is always depends on the market situation. If you are making an entry into a
new market then this margin will be set at lowest possible level to compete with the rivals.
MTM Ltds pricing methods are flexible and vary from product to product. Sometimes price also
vary from customer to customer.
Direct Marketing Channels:

contacts and sell & dispatch its products directly to the ultimately buyers.

CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE THEROTICAL CONCEPTS RELATED
TO PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE:

The goals of the Critical Analysis and Thinking Skills (MTM LTD.) program are:
(1) To help students learn and effectively use basic critical thinking skills so that they can
tackle problems effectively.
(2) Enable students to learn and effectively use a decision-making process so that they can
make more rational decisions.
(3) Enable students to become critical readers so they can decode and encode information
more effectively;
(4) Enable students to learn the composing process so they can write persuasive essays of
high quality;
(5) To enable students to realize their intellectual and creativity potential in a real world
classroom like MTM LTD.

Phase 1 (Defining and Evaluating)
Students will learn how to accurately identify the issue at hand, assess the issue (i.e., how to
obtain a wide range of relevant information), and then how to prioritize and assess the
information for trustworthiness. Students use the MTM LTD. six-step, decision-making process
to define and evaluate the issue using specially formatted worksheets to complete the process.
Phase 2 (Writing and Revising)
Students have on worksheets a highly organized version of the issue from which it is a
comparatively simple matter to write and revise a influential essay.
The critical thinking ability of the students grooms and they learn to apply all this to solve issues.
These skills include: conceptual analysis, deductive and inductive reasoning, and priority
analysis. In addition, students are learning the important skills of critical reading and persuasive
essay writing.
Success & Failure of Different Products
Brian Tracy, a Business Guru says; "Leadership is the most important single factor in
determining business success or failure in our competitive, turbulent, fast-moving economy."
Still not convinced? Based on a study by Jessie Hagen of the US Bank, here are the main reasons
why businesses fail:
Poor Business Planning
Poor Financial Planning
Poor Marketing
Poor Management
Good leadership motivates the proper application of above factors. But on the other hand so
many people go into business even without proper planning, as if it were the ice cream flavor-of-
the-month!
Someone beautifully said that, "If their fail to plan, their plan to fail." Leadership is about
planning for success before it happens. Sun Tzu, the 6th century Chinese philosopher, in his epic
work The Art of War, gave some sound business advice that still applies today: "When their
strategy is deep and far-reaching, then what their gain by their calculations is much, so there can
win before their even fight. When their strategic thinking is shallow and near-sighted, then what
their gain by their calculations is little, so their lose before their do battle
As for as financial planning is concerned, 82% of businesses failed due to poor cash flow
management skills followed closely by starting out with too little money. Business leadership is
about taking financial responsibility, conducting sound financial planning and research, and
understanding the unique financial dynamics of one's business. Before even starting a business,
show their plan to their accountant and get their counsel.

Another business failure factor, and a critical one, is Marketing. Over 64% of the businesses
surveyed in the Marketing category failed due to ignorance of owners in realizing the importance
of proper marketing and promotion planning. If they are not doing anything of significance to
market and promote their business, they are most likely heading towards business failure.
Finally, another most important reason, why businesses fail is due to poor management. In the
Management category, 70% of businesses failed due to owners not recognizing their actual role
and lack of management abilities and involved in firing and hiring rather than seeking help on
contentious matters from experts and also not delegating to the lower ones.
If your competitors are all providing a better quality at lower price than yours, then he is going to
be the leader of the market, now if you want to stay in the market and compete with him than
you have to plan well, keep your cost at least possible level and use your financial sensibly
otherwise your will be get out from the market. Now there are two possibilities fulfill the
demand or get out of the game.
Major Competitors of the Organization
The major competitors of MTM Limited are as
Chenab Fabrics Limited
Amtex Limited

easy availability of cheaper labour the cost of production of these countries are so low so in
result they sell their products at cheaper rate without effecting the quality as compared to
Pakistan.

enable Pakistan to stand in line with other countries and compete with them.
