Section 12, Rule 14 of the Rules of Court is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"SEC. 12. Service uon forei!n rivate "uridical entity. #
$hen the defendant is a forei!n rivate "uridical entity which
has transacted business in the %hiliines, service may be made
on its resident a!ent desi!nated in accordance with law for that
urose, or, i f there be no such a!ent, on the !overnment
official desi!nated by law to that effect, or on any of its officers
or a!ents within the %hiliines.
&f the forei!n rivate "uridical entity is not re!istered in
the %hiliines or has no resident a!ent, service may, with leave
of court, be effected out of the %hiliines throu!h any of the
followin! means:
a' ( y ersonal service coursed throu!h the
aroriate court in the forei!n country with the
assistance of the )eartment of *orei!n +ffairs,
b' ( y ublication once in a newsaer of !eneral
circulation in the country where the defendant may be
found and by servin! a coy of the summons and the
court order by-re!istered mail at the last .nown address
of the defendant,
c' ( y facsimile or any reco!ni/ed electronic
means that could !enerate roof of service, or
d' ( y such other means as the court may in its
discretion direct."
0his rule shall ta.e effect fifteen 112' days after ublication in a
newsaer of !eneral circulation in the %hiliines.
