1. General
The galley intended to store hotel products is situated at the right aft section of the
passengers compartment. In function with standard aircraft, its position is given in Figure 1.
2. Description
A. Structure
From the monoblock construction, formed beginning from the sandwich panels
assembled between them by the tenons and mortices then bonded, the galley is divided
into several compartments each having a particular function. Its dimensions allow its
placement in the aircraft in passing through the passengers door.
B. Attachments
The galley is permanently attached to the aircraft structure by two attachments located
at the upper part and one attachment located at the lower part. Each attachment is
accessible and easily disassembled.
C. Electrical feed
The electrical energy necessary for incorporated equipments (hot jugs, ovens ...)
functioning is provided by the electrical network of the aircraft from cables and
independant connections of aircraft circuit.
D. Water connection
The tank consists of a filling outlet and an open air exhaust outlet, both connected to
the pipe work of the aeroplane
Two draining pipes empty the water from the tank and the water heater to the container
bin.
E. Main components
- One water heater.

3. Operation
A. Access doors to stowage compartments
The doors are equipped with a pallet latch and a security latch fitted with a command
button having two positions : open (red dot),closed looking position (green dot). Closing
and locking a door are obtained as follows :
(1) Door closed, not locked : the bolt of the latch is completely engaged in the strike.
The bolt of the security latch is retracted, the red dot on the command button is
visible. The door can be opened by operating the closing latch flap.
(2) Door closed, locked : the bolt of the latch and that of the security latch are
completely engaged in their strike. The green dot on the command button of the
security latch is visible, the red dot is hidden. The door can not be opened by
operating the latch flap.
B. Locking of built-in components
(1) Compartment hot jugs and standard unit.
The immobilization of equipments is ensured by using two rotary latches.
(2) Folding table
Easy functionning two-position rotary latches allow immobilizing the folding table in
a folded position.
Note :
Any item within a storage compartment, which prevents closing a door or locking rotary
latches, must be removed. Signs installed in the galley compartments indicate its
individual maximum capacity which must not be exceeded.
C. Operation of built-in materials
Specific instructions concerning the operation of material built-in the galley are not
described in this manual. They are generally furnished by the vendor of the materials
used.
D. Electrical installation
Electrical equipment installed in the galley must be supplied power only at the time of
usage. The installation is protected by thermal circuit-breakers whose main purpose is
to protect the electrical wiring from overload. In no case should these circuit-breakers
be used as switches.
E. Connections

page 6
APR 10/07
The Galley is connected to the hydraulic system by a fast action HANSEN connector
and to the electrical circuit by the 01MC4 jack.
F. Supplying of water of the galley
This takes place before take-off. The galley is connected to the planes water system.
Before filling, two factors must be taken into consideration.
(1) When the galley is in operation (the W/P switch is in tyhe ON position). At the
time of filling of the planes water system, the galley tank (9 liters or 20 liters) and
the water heater tank wil also be filled.
If the indicator light is not on, ensure that the filling of water has fully taken place. If
the light still does not illuminate, refer to the chapter Testing and
Troubleshooting .
The filling of the water heater takes place by activating the water pump switch
(W/P) throughout the period of use.
As a result of its regularization, the pump maintains its pressure at the water heater
inlet. It starts up and operates automatically once the hot water is extracted.
When the galley tank is empty, the W/P indicator light turns itself off and the pump
stops.
Put the W/P switch in the OFF position. Hot water can be drawn off until the
water heater is empty.
(2) When the galley is not in operation (the W/P switch in in the OFF position).
Only the 9 liters or 20 liters tank is full.
G. Making the galley operational
Switch on the circuit breakers, Nos. 03MC8, 03MC10 and 03MC11.
H. Switching off the galley
Disarm the circuit breakers 03MC8, 03MC10, 03MC11.

E. Edging profiles
Edges of the sandwich panels are protected by appropriate profiles and are bonded or
screwed, according to their, status to panel fields. To bond profiles, a structural adhesi-
ve, softened by hot air, is used. The removal of bonded profiles is extremely delicate
and should only be done if absolutely necessary.
(1) Bonded profile
(a) Heat the bonding length of the profile's exterior surface evenly with a hot air
blower taking care to avoid the adjacent surfaces of the sandwich panel.
(b) Remove the profile from the panel field at the first sign of the bonding melting.
Use pliers with protected bits in order to avoid damaging the parts. Continue
heating, little by little, and follow with the removal of the profile.
CAUTION : THE TEMPERATURE SHOULD NOT EXCEED 105C (221F) DURING
THE OPERATION OF A PROFILE'S REMOVAL.
(2) Screwed profile
Removal of screwed profiles does not pose any particular problem. The profiles
attaching rivet screws will be replaced systematically, after four removals, the rivet
screws having a diameter immediately superior.

1. General
The basic construction of the galley is simple and checks are reduced to a visual inspection
of components. An appropriate light, mirror, and magnifying glass are sufficiant for this
procedure. It is obvious that before beginning these checks all elements must be cleaned.
Any dismantled component thought to be defective will be replaced.
2. Specific component check procedures
A. Stowage compartment doors
(1) Check that all doors can be opened and closed without any problem.
(a) Absence of any point of resistance
(b) Wear is acceptable to parts as long as it doesn't defect their function.
(2) Check that all bolt latches engage properly in their strikes, particularly in security
latches, ensuring their locking (green dot) and unlocking (red dot) functions.
(3) Check the tightness of door hinge attachment screws as well as the backplates of
latch attachments.
(4) Check the condition and function of all door hinge return springs. To repair a
sandwich panel refer to the "Repairs" section.
(5) Check the condition of edging profiles and sandwich panels of doors. To repair a
sandwich panel see the section "Repairs". To replace an profile see the sections
"Assembly" and "Disassembly".
B. Sandwich panels
The possible deterioration of sandwich panels are not always visible to the naked eye,
in particular the deterioration of the internal structure of the panels. A simple and
efficient method called the "coin test" consists of tapping different areas of the panel's
surface with a coin. The tone heard should be clear, any different tone is a sign of
internal deterioration or the loosening of the surface from the panel's skin. If, when
pressing moderately on the panel, the surface is soft, it is certain that an interior core of
the panel is damaged.

C. Galley attachments
The lower and upper attachments are components vital to the security of the galley
installed in the aircraft. No allowances will be permitted. In particular, verify the following :
(1) The tightness of fitting attachment screws on the galley's structure.
(2) The absence of cracks or traces of corrosion on fittings.
(3) The wear condition on anchoring fittings of lower attachments.
(4) The condition of upper attachment fitting link rods of the galley with the aircraft's
structure.
D. Electrical installation
Check the condition of the isolation conduit, in particular the stops of the conduit to the
cable's extremities, the efficiency of the attachment cable's binding and clamps, and the
absence of any cutting on the isolation conduit. Also check the locking system of
connectors, the presence of electrical items and the state of bulk connectors.
Refer to page 101 for testing the electrical installation.
E. Checking
Refer to paragraphs 2A.2B in the TESTING AND TROUBLESHOOTING.
( The use of water heater is specified on its front side ). In the event of a fault, first
determine whether the fault is an electrical or a hydraulic one and refer to chapter 3 of
the section DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION.

3. Repair procedure
It is very important that the repair area be treated with caution. A good bonding of materials
depends essentially on a good preparation surface. A damp test will be done on the surface
to be bonded before application of the adhesive layer.
A. Determining damages
Before any reparations are done, it is necessary to locate the area to repair in order to
know if it is accessible or not, and to identify the damage characteristics (type and
dimensions) for determining the degree of intervention. The damages may be allowable
or repairable.
(1) Allowable damages :
No reparation - The damaged area will be checked periodically.
(2) Repairable damages :
Classed into three categories according to their importance.
(a) Little damage :
1 Surface defect (scratches, chipping) concerning the first or second layer.
2 Perforated laminate.
3 Separation of the sandwich structure skin.
4 Non-perforated recession of the sandwich structure skin.
5 Perforation of the sandwich structure having a less than 15 mm.
(b) Extended damage :
Major delamination of the panel structure.
(c) Deterioration of honeycomb or perforation of the sandwich structure having a
diameter more than 15 mm.
Note 1 : When damage extends to the honeycomb and the damaged area is large (
2500 mm
2

) or when the volume of filling resin is major, it will be necessary to
replace the honeycomb.
Note 2 : For all other noted damages, consult the vendor.
(3) Types of repairs following damages :
(a) minor repairs for small damages
(b) major repairs for extended damages, the deterioration of honeycomb or the
perforation of the sandwich structure having a diameter more than 15 mm.

B. Preparation of the repair area
(1) Elimination of the surface protection :
The surface protection situated in the repair area will be eliminated.
CAUTION : USE ONLY MECHANICAL MEANS FOR CARRYING OUT THE
ABOVE OPERATION. ANY OTHER MEAN IS FORBIDDEN.
(2) Drying of the sandwich structure :
All repair work will be done on a sandwich structure that is completely dry. Humidity
can be eliminated by using a hot air generator. If humidity is not completely
eliminated the honeycomb will be replaced.
CAUTION : DO NOT EXCEED 80C (176F) DURING THE DRYING OPERA TION
OF HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE.
(3) Damp test :
This test must be carried out after each sanding or degreasing of a repair area, as
well as on a reinforcement plate that is to be placed :
(a) Apply an even layer of demineralized water on the sanded or degreased area,
or on the reinforcement plate that is to be placed.
(b) Inspect the humidified area and verify that the water forms a continuous film
without any rippling or breaking.
(c) Dry with a clean cotton cloth.
(4) Cleaning and degreasing the damaged surface :
Proceed to clean and degrease the sandwich structure's damaged surface using a
white, clean, dry, lintfree cotton cloth using ethylacetate (Table 601, item 9). Use a
clean portion of the cloth for each going over, before the solvent evaporates. The
cleaning is completed when the cloth remains clean.
C. Use of adhesives
Adhesives used for repairs of galley panels and the impregnation of dry fabrics before
bonding are composed of a base and hardener (Table 601). When prepared, the
mixture must be used quickly. The polymerization time depends on the environmental
temperature and the type of resin used. The conservation time and the method of
storing adhesives is normally indicated on their packageing.
Note 3 : Adhesives must be stored in their original packaging in an ambiant
environment between 5C and 10C.

4. Repairs
A. Preparation of the damaged surface
(1) Locate the damaged surface on the side of a panel and degrease it with a cotton
rag dampened with ethylacetate (see paragraph 3-B-4).
(2) Sand down the damaged surface with a medium grade abrasive paper taking care
not to cut into the adjacent structure.
(3) Vaccuum dust particles, clean and degrease as previously indicated.
B. Preparation of products
(1) Preparation of structural adhesive Mix 100 weighed parts of REDUX 408 resin
(Table 601, item 4) with 7.5 weighed parts of REDUX 408 hardener in a clean, dry
container using a wooden or plastic spatula, until a homogeneous mixture is
obtained. The pot life of the mixture is 30 min. at 25C.
Note 4 : REDUX 408 resin can be replaced by resin EC2216 (Table 601, item 7).
In such a case, mix 50 weighed parts of the base product EC2216B with 70
weighed parts of accelerator EC2216A (pot life of mixture = 90 min. at
24C).
