Syllabus Exam Description
ICND1 Exam The 640-822 Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) is the exam
ICND2 Exam associated with the Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician certification and a tangible first
CCNA Single Exam step in achieving the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification. Candidates can prepare
for this exam by taking the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) v1.0
For Registered Users Only course. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to successfully install,
Security (CCNA Security) operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office network. The exam includes topics on
networking fundamentals; connecting to a WAN; basic security and wireless concepts; routing
Voice (CCNA Voice)
and switching fundamentals; the TCP/IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies;
Wireless (CCNA Wireless) operating and configuring IOS devices; configuring RIPv2, static and default routing;
implementing NAT and DHCP; and configuring simple networks.

Thanks for the info. It was of great help to me. I maganed to pass my ICND1 exam. Now
working towards ICND2.
Thanks once again.
Are all those 0000000000's and 1111111111's really necessary when subnetting? Does
anyone use this in real life networking? I don't think so! Seems a waste of time when there
are way more serious issues that need more time with then this. And it only makes it more
confusing - much easier to use wwww.xxxx.yyyy.zzzz or prefix \24
Thanks Cisco :-(
are you referring to subnetting? If so, for entry level people it's quite difficult to do complex
subnetting without writing down everything in binary format.
Regards,
Cristian.
Helpful, thanks
Robert,
binary is used in real life subnetting.
All the 1s and 0s are used for calculating wilcards, masks, access lists...
If you find the concept of binary dificult, have a look at IPv6
in oder to become familiar and confortable with subnetting, have a look a the cisco games,
both the subnetting game as well as the binary game. they are very usefull.
Interesting detail.

I just passed my exam, and yes, it is a lot different than what ICND1 used to be. For those
who are getting ready, study........and study HARD!!!!!!
(Are all those 1's and 0's really necessary... that's funny. :-) )
