A famous Malayalam writer and novelist Madhavi Kutty who wrote many interesting truths

about the real lifestyle and the mind-state of the Indian women praised over by many of the
keralites and the Indians for her extreme courage in writing on issues that women were kept out
off in the society. When praising Madhavi Kutty what the keralites had forgotten was that there
lived a woman named K.Saraswathi Amma who had wrote about the freedom of thought for
women earlier than Madhavi Kutty. She wrote at an age of 20 in the earlier 40's which strongly
criticized man's dominance over the women and the need for women to be free thinkers. The
orthodox man dominant society became mad when they heard a women voice so loud and so
strong that they became extremely cautious knowing the fact that if they let her speak more the
dominance of men will be at stake so they suffocated her in all possible ways as they could. She
was born in a family not rich and was at a broken sate. The family she lived in was a typical
orthodox family. She was a good student too and got passed the ESSLC examination with a first
rank in her pocket. Thats not all she tried to achieve a degree for herself at a time when the
women in India where not supposed to go out of their house but because of poor luck and
circumstances failed to do so. She was employed at an age of 26 and when she had her own
income she built a house for herself and lived alone there. This is from where she started writing
her books. She quoted in her novel Ramani that "There are no other selfish and criminal minded
people like parents in this world who thinks their children's high class life as their prime motto of
their life. Thinking like that itself is a crime. What can we do they are created like this"."Many
can't love women just as friends there's always a titillating thought and a likeness for sexual
contact inside their mind and if time and situation allows these thoughts may also come outside
she quoted in her book 'One and only one night'. She wrote boldly about the primitiveness of
women and the dominance of man in the society. She also questioned the fact of mans
supremacy over the women and the foolish thoughts of women at that time that in-order to be
happy and live a good life there's no other way than to stand under the shadow of man. She tried
to enlighten the women's thoughts and to make women stand against the atrocities of the men
who dominated over them in all ways.
She was a woman who stood for women empowerment at a time where the
Indian society had no place for women. The society was dominated by men and women were
forced to live beneath men's foot. Her voice where shattered at that time because of lack of
power and lack of supporters and her books and writings where all lost in space and time. But in
this time when this world salutes women and stands firm for women empowerment lets salute
her brave attempt and her fight against the mans cruel and sarcastic behavior over women.
