In 2011, the world population reached 7 billion. At the current trend of 1.2%,
the world will hit 14 billion in 60 years. Today, for each of the five babies
born each second, two people die. That means Earth has a net gain of ~180
people per minute.

Todays Learning Targets:
I will be able to calculate population growth patterns of
disturbed and undisturbed duckweed samples.
I will be able to identify the causes and effects of
eutrophication on an ecosystem.
I will be able to assess my own ecological footprint and
identify my own sources of impact on the planet as an
individual.

Record final count of duckweed.
Conduct chemical reactions with the water from both
duckweed samples.
Use spectrometer to measure phosphate and nitrate
concentrations.
Graph disturbed and undisturbed population growth
(duckweed counts from the past 3 weeks).
Calculate the changes in nutrients.

Interactive White Boards Rationale
Access to the web allows me to show students how to navigate class
website
I am able to play and instructional video to show students how to
complete a multistep science procedure.
The video breaks up the lesson so that I am not just talking at the
students.
The video enhances the instruction with visual backup.
I am able to do math with the students next to the graph.
I am able to the web to show students websites they will need to
complete their homework.
The lesson is more dynamic and engaging.
