Timeline and Process Flow


Intern Candidate
! Major
" Preferred: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering
" Not interested in: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Math
! Year in school
" We look for students who can intern the summer before they graduate. This
upcoming year (2013-2014), well be looking for students graduating in 2015. Its
important that theyve taken courses in data structures and algorithms, and did
well in those courses!
! Grades
" Strong grades (B or higher) in computer science and math courses
# Calculus
# Object oriented programming
# Data structures
# Algorithms
! Preferred programming languages
" Java, C++, Python, Objective C, C
# Its not important that a student is an expert in all three, but being well-
versed in one is ideal. The first three are the main programming
languages used at Google.
! Other things we look for
" Interest in CS outside of the classroom
" Leadership experience
" Ability to problem solve
" Involvement in computer science student organizations (ACM, IEEE, etc)
" Participation in programming competitions
" Involvement in Open Source
" Experience as a teaching assistant (TA) in a computer science class

Full-time Candidate
! Same as intern candidates, but we expect to see that theyve done one or two
internships in the field of computer science while they were in school.

General Resume Guidelines
! Needs to be in English
! Needs to include university, major, and estimated graduation year/month
! Needs to list overall GPA
! Should list relevant work experience
! Should list extracurricular activities (ie. computer science student club, volunteer work,
etc)
! Should list CS projects conducted outside of class
! Should be kept to 1-2 pages
! No personal information is needed (marital status, photo, etc)


Timeline and Process flow
! M&T will source 2 students for internships and 2 students for full-time roles by Jul 31st,
2013. M&T will send resumes and transcripts for each student to Google.
" Internship and full-time positions for students will be posted at the end of August
or beginning of September

! Google will review resumes to determine who we will move forward with.
! M&T will notify yes students to tell them to apply online, then email Google once
theyve applied.
! Google will keep track of candidates and notify M&T of the status of each.
