Industry today faces a more competitive environment
than ever before. Pressure to reduce costs is tremendous.
The search for better, more efficient ways to serve the
customer is ongoing.
Proper lighting is a competitive advantage for your
facility. Not only the quantity of light, but the quality and
efficiency of how that light is delivered is important.
Tasks that have the correct amount of light for the job,
are completed quicker and with fewer errors. The
Illuminating Engineering Society of North America,
IESNA, publishes recommendations for many tasks in
many areas, which weve highlighted.
The correct type of light is also critical. There is ongoing
research that blue deficient light such as that produced
by HPS systems is difficult for people to work under. It
causes fatigue that can result in more missed workdays.
It is also difficult to discern colors under HPS light
because blue and green colors are visually muted. So, as
your employees try to make decisions based on color,
HPS sources make this task even more difficult.
Correctly lit facilities using white light such as that
produced by the Electro-Reg

Metal Halide system results

in happier, healthier people who can do their jobs quicker
and with fewer errors. This is just one competitive edge
that you can get from Hubbell Lighting.
An example: Hubbells Electro-Reg white light metal
halide system also offers longer lamp life. The chart
below shows the typical cost of shutting down an
assembly line. If the light fixtures are in such a location
that you must shut down a line in order to change a
lamp, the cost can be substantial.
ABC Company has 500 million in annual sales and
twenty main product lines. If one line goes down:
LOST $500,000,000 Annual Sales
SALES 20 Main Product Lines
$25,000,000 Sales/Product Line/Year
250 Days/Year
$100,000 Sales/Product Line/Day

WAGES 20 Main Product Lines
100 Employees/Product Line
x $18 Per Hour
$1,800 Per Hour/Product LIne
LOST Poor Customer Satisfaction $???
CUSTOMERS Missed Deadlines $???

At a minimum, it costs ABC Company $6,000 per
hour to shut down one line.

In most facilities, highbays and lowbays make up the majority of
the fixtures. Hubbell Lightings complete line of highbay and lowbay
luminaires gives you hundreds of solutions.
The line starts with our Superbay as an entry-level fixture. It is a
modular system of ballast pod and ten different optical assemblies
ready to handle up to a 400 watt lamp with a 55C ambient rating.
Next is the Tribay. The Tribay housing is a specification grade fixture
with six different optical assemblies. This fixture has an ambient
temperature rating of 65C and will handle up to 1000 watt lamps.
The Superwatt

and Lightwatt

fixtures offer excellent vertical illu-

mination and control glare and are truly unique. The larger fixture,
the Superwatt, handles up to a 400 watt lamp with the smaller
Lightwatt handling up to 175 watts.
To round out the line, theres a complete line of industrial fluo-
rescent fixtures to meet any industrial application. All of these
fixtures can be installed using
Hubbell Fast Flex Wiring System.

SLD: Switch Level Dimming for industrial
Now controlling HID lighting and delivering increased
energy savings is easy. Hubbells Switch Level Dimming
operation creates zones of control connected through
our SLIP (Switch Level Interface Panel) in both new con-
struction or retrofit applications. Payback is determined
by the amount of low level lighting and reduced input
watts versus full time high level lighting levels. Input
wattage can be reduced by about 50% for both HPS and
Metal Halide.
FEATURES AND REQUIREMENTS
Each Step Level Dimming luminaire requires either
a 4-wire plug and receptacle or a 4-wire splice
connection (with 120V control, 5-wire for 24V)
Each SLIP interface panel is capable of controlling 8
zones of 10 luminaires for switched 2-level lighting.
Each SLIP interface panel starts all luminaires at
high light level and prohibits luminaire dimming for
a set 15 minute period to allow complete warm-up
according to all lamp manufacturers requirements.
One control wire required for each control zone
(Two control wires for low voltage, 24V).
The SLIP interface panel must be powered by
120VAC and be connected to the service common.
An autotransformer can be used to supply the SLIP
interface panel voltage if the system voltage is
other than 120VAC.
Each SLIP interface panel is supplied with manual
override terminals, that when connected by a
switch will force all luminaires (in all zones) to
full output.
Each SLOD occupancy detector can be energized
by an independent 120VAC source for maximum
versatility.
One or more SLOD occupancy detectors are
required for each zone, if independent multiple
zone control is desired.
Zones may contain luminaires wired to multiple
phases.
Multiple SLOD occupancy detectors, wired in
parallel, may be used to control one zone.
Each SLOD occupancy detector must be wired to
the SLIP interface panel or directly to a fixture.

fluorescent fixture installations. The Fast Flex system
utilizes a minimum number of components to satisfy a
wide variety of applications and provides the installer of
industrial lighting fixtures the same benefits that have
been associated with the installation of lighting fixtures
in commercial applications. The Fast Flex system maxi-
mizes flexibility, allowing fixtures to be easily bypassed,

HUBBELLS BREAKTHROUGH
NO COMPROMISE WHITE LIGHT SYSTEM
Many industrial owners and managers have used High Pressure
Sodium because of the economics involved, but would prefer
the visual acuity and color rendition inherent in a white light
Metal Halide system. Electro-Reg is the answer. In addition to
white light they gain the following advantages over a High
Pressure Sodium system:
50%+ longer lamp life
50% greater line dip tolerance and 50% greater
brown-out tolerance. Fewer lamp drop-outs from
voltage variations.
Better lamp lumen depreciation characteristics
No end of life lamp cycling
60% less ripple (strobe effect) in light output
The total lumen-hours out of the 400W Electro-Reg system are
equal to those of High Pressure Sodium.
ELECTRO-REG PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING
BENEFITS OVER STANDARD METAL HALIDE:
Double lamp life of 400W lamp (50% longer
lamp life for 175W and 250W)
Hot re-strike in 2 to 4 minutes vs. 9 minutes
Better color and output stability
60% more lumen-hours per lamp
Superb lamp lumen depreciation characteristics
60% lower line harmonics
50% greater line dip tolerance and 100%
greater brown-out tolerance - providing fewer
lamp drop-outs due to voltage variations.
Operates down to -40C
The 400 watt Electro-Reg 2.0 is supplied with a 40,000 lumen
M59 lamp. However, the system operates superbly with pulse
start lamps and still provides the long life, fast re-strike, color
stability, improved lumen maintenance, low harmonics, and high
dip tolerance system benefits.
The Electro-Reg System provides long lamp life, more constant
output throughout life, and 60% more lumen-hours than standard
Metal Halide with Peak Lead/CWA.

The Pathfinder

series of emergency and exit lighting is the most complete line

of life safety products in the industry. Using advanced electronics for trouble-
free and energy saving long-life operation, Hubbell products range from mas-
ter-remote combinations to self-contained units for severe environments.
Meeting code. Taking care of safety requirements. Reducing maintenance
costs. Our emergency lighting and exits do all this and more.
Hubbell design technology lets you use as little as two watts of energy to
power an exit and extend the life of an LED exit to over 20 years of 24/7 usage.
And if staying current with your energy lighting code is important, look at
Hubbells DART equipment and products. From up to 75 feet away, mainte-
nance personnel can simply point, click and record battery/lamp operation. No
ladders. No loss of time.
