DIVERSITY MANAGEMENT

INTRODUCTION:
Fellow Americans, we must ask ourselves: Do we truly believe that
ALL red-state residents are ignorant racist knuckle-dragging NASCAR-
obsessed cousin-marrying roadkill-eating tobacco-juice-dribbling gun-
fondling religious fanatic rednecks; or the ALL blue-state residents are
god-less unpatriotic pierced-nosed Volvo-driving France-loving left-
wing communist latte-sucking tofu-chomping holistic-wacko neurotic
vegan weenie perverts? Yes. This is called diversity, [1]
MEANING:
DIVERSITY:
A range of different things
Etc.: "Newspapers were obliged to allow a diversity of views to be
printed" [2]
MANAMENT:
The process of dealing with or controlling things or people
etc.: The management of the economy" [3]
DEFINITION:
Diversity management is the strategy of using best practices with
proven results to find and create a diverse and
inclusive workplace. Successful strategies link diversity progress
directly to business results. Best practices include effective use
of employee resource groups, councils, mentoring, and supplier
diversity. [4]
A diverse workforce requires managers with new leadership styles
who understand employees varying needs and creatively respond by
offering flexible management policies and practices[5]

DAMNATIONS OF DIVERSITY:
The highly descriptive model of the "4 Layers of Diversity", based on
Gardenswartz und Rowe, offers a widely used formula for attributing
diversity factors:
PERSONALITY (INNER CIRCLE):
"PERSONALITY", the dimension which constitutes the core of this
model, covers all aspects of a person that may be classified as
PERSONAL STYLE.
INTERNAL DIMENSIONS (2nd circle):
"INTERNAL DIMENSIONS or "CORE DIMENSIONS" are considered to
be dimensions that may not be easily changed by individuals and are
thus taken into account by the relevant equal treatment acts.

Nationality and Ethnicity
Social Class Background
Sexual Orientation
Age
Mental and Physical Capability
Religion / Worldview

EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS (3rd circle):
"EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS" are characterised by their variableness.
"Religion" or "worldview" are exceptions, which is why they are
highlighted. They could be regarded as internal dimensions for 2
reasons:
1. Religion and worldview cannot always be chosen freely
2. Discrimination as a result thereof is legally forbidden.
