“HCL is a player and where it stands in IT

Sector”

Project title is “HCL is a player and where it

stands in IT Sector” this title tell me the about
HCL that how much market it has because it
includes the competitive study of all the IT Institutes
those are providing the same course and have a
very good reputation in market. I choose this title
because I want to study that market share of HCL
and where it stands.

In IT education it has been said that if education

is a kingdom than Students is its king. Education
involves only servicing to students, so satisfying
them ultimately makes the business will be
profitable.

market share cover by HCLcdc (HCL career

designated area/market and competitor Analysis
• Collection of data from market, my regular target of data
collection is 40 data per day from the market, and

• In competitor analysis, I have to sort out the competitor of HCL
CDC present in the Agra market, product they are offering,

Strategy

A marketing strategy is a process that can allow an

organization to concentrate its (always limited) resources on the
greatest opportunities to increase sales and achieve a sustainable
competitive advantage.

22
A marketing strategy is most effective when it is an integral
component of corporate strategy, defining how the organization
will engage customers, prospects and competitors in the market
arena for success. It is partially derived from broader corporate
strategies, corporate missions, and corporate goals. They should

flow from the firm's mission statement. They are also influenced
by a range of micro environmental factors.

Survey Research

A survey research is defined as the method of

collecting information by asking a set of pre
formulated questions in a predetermined sequence
in a structured questionnaire to a sample of
individuals drawn so as to be representative of a
defined population. These questionnaires are
administered to an individual or a group of
individuals through interviews. Typical survey
objectives involve describing or learning from an
ongoing activity by studying the changes in
behavioral patterns of the subjects of interest to the
researcher.

23
Plan for achieving the same with
weekly time lines

• I have to collect the data from 280 customers

(students) in a week.
• I will get fill the form of students those are
interested in HCL CDC Hardware, software
networking, courses
• I will try my best to achieve the weekly target
and above the target

Identification of segments:-

My customer segments are of two types:

I) Technical students (those students they are doing or

done Engineering and any technical courses.).

24
II) Non technical students (those students they are 12th
passed and graduate in any stream or those are pursuing
graduation.

Plan on how to approach segments:

My plan for how to reach the target customers are

as follows:-

• I have door to door contact with the

customers.
• I have contact with many educational
institutes for contact to students.
• I have organized the seminar with my group at
the schools and college campus.
• I have use reference to reach the customers

What is your qualification?

27
According to survey I found many of
students are interested in computer
education among them most of are
under gradute and they are seeking
for good institute and carrier
development centers.

Why would you like computer

training?

28
I asked most of students about their
preferences in computer programs
and most of them answered for
Job .

Required training?

From above question I came to know

that many students are interesting in
software engineering in spite of
networking, hardware, or other
computer knowledge.

Which IT institute you prefer most?

29
I found many students are unknown
about HCL and they are well known
about GT and other IT institutes and
to make people aware about HCL we
have to use promotion strategy in
branding of HCL CDC…

Why you prefer it most?

30
And reason is GT providing many
short term and affordable program for
the students.

Communication strategy:

When did interact the customers then there I will use my soft
skills and interpersonal skills through questionnaire. I will try to
familiar with the customer because when I found more familiar
with the customer then customer feel very comfort and they
believe on me easily .

I should have good command in English for get better corporate

exposure but I should know Hindi and local language of rural area
in their language. Because they understand easily in their
language.

31
Limitation

• The data collected is totally dependent on respondents’

views, which could be bias in nature.
• Sometimes respondents do not give a response or give
partial response. It is called non response error. The
reason may be lack of knowledge or unwillingness to
answer.
• The sample size is small and it may not actually represent
the whole population.
• There is limited time available each day and lot of tasks
have to completed in a day like preparing reports,
conducting surveys, spend time at the office to gain
knowledge, etc

32
.

Work I have been done in that week:

FIRST WEEK

I started my sip on 20th April 2009 i had meeting

with our corporate guide Mr. Harsh who told me
about the procedure that how I collect data of
different students in different area and the areas
are east of Agra site like;
 Tundla
 Sanjay place
 Firozabad

I prepared a questionnaire and send it to our

corporate guide .Whole “SIP“ Is divided in four phase
in which first phase is about data collection and
about competitive analysis he also make understand
me about “HCL” product and further three phases
will understand on second half of a sip program gave
him IIR report for sip report. Than I started our “SIP”
program through visited in different schools
I organized seminar and make them
aware about” HCL CDC” and its program. i collected
33
data from various schools ,institutes and colleges I
send data of students number with their name and
contact number with permanent addresses. I
collected data from “education fair”. It was all about
our first week
SECOND WEEK

In our second week of sip program again i had

meeting with our faculty guide and he told me to
visit different institute for competitive analysis. I
contact institutes like GT , IIHT ,JETKING ,F-TECH
from there I collected information about there
product and prices .

THIRD WEEK

In my third week they asked for data collection of

MAT exam students and i gave them more than 150
data of MAT students by visited in different
examination centre.

FOURTH WEEK

34
I went in Amar ujala education fair where “HCL
CDC” has a counter. I contributed for HCL like I
distributed pamphlets, collected data via brochures
and lucky coupons ,I made walk- in many students to
the counter and also council them .

FIFTH WEEK

I prepared my interim report with help of

weekly report and synopsis and I did
competitive analysis through visited in different
institutes are as follows:-
• GT
• IIHT
• F-TEC

• JET KING
• N- tech
• Horizon

Sixth week

35
In this week I had Meeting with Faculty guide in
my collage prepared Final report.

REFERENCES

I visited in schools and different IT institutes for

collecting data .and education fairs and I came to
know more about hcl through visited at different
sites of hcl like:

www.hclcdc.in
www.google.in
www.hcl
I took information from different business books and
many other sources like newspapers which help me
to find out fact and findings to make report more
useful for the college and company as well.

36
Recommendation

I have done deep study and I came to know that

many students preferred IT institutes which would
help them to get job and easy to afford it means HCL
cdc should use promotional strategy in urban as well
in rural areas because in rural areas students at
there ready to take admission in the same institute
where students of their town and villages were
already study hence, I suggest HCL should start their
promotional activities more in rural than urban areas
..
