so much that we don/t &elieve we are s'illful at using &oth parts# 0Yet we use &oth
parts more than most of us reali1e23
Better to use all our &rain together###which produces a synergistic effect as &oth sides
are wor'ing and communicate with each other# This wor's &etter for nearly all tas's

7 The effects of central% or foveal perception% and peripheral% or glo&al perception% not

7 Foveal% or focused attention% appears to &e useful for focused attention% linear 0so

7 !eripheral% or glo&al attention appears to &e useful for glo&al awareness% fast and
automatic response% such as getting out of the way of a moving o&-ect# .lso useful for
conte,tual awareness% connections with other conte,ts% etc# Ha&itual responses seem
to occur almost automatically% with peripheral or little focused attention#Also, this is
where conte, tual awareness occurs###and this is critical for appropriate transfer of
'nowledge to other areas###when real learning ta'es place 0not -ust rote learning3#
7 onte,ts reside in yet larger conte,ts% and so on###otherwise disassociation occurs#
This gives a valua&le 'ey to the healing of disassociated parts of personalities so that
wholeness can &e e,perienced#
7 Wor'ing together% glo&al focus seems to (program in( detailed information% and
glo&al awareness allows us to trac' and respond rapidly and automatically to rapid
changes% conte,ts# The creation of new ha&its is most easily done when conscious
focused attention is used% then the process is allowed to &ecome a more automatic

Focused and ;lo&al awareness can wor' together li'e this# +emem&er seeing in the
movies how a -et pilot needs to loc' on a target in a central visual location> How once
when that is done% the on&oard computer can automatically and 4uic'ly calculate and
handle rapid changes> 9ur &rain seems to operate that way% too# When you ta'e
something in and loc' in the details of what it is with your central focus% then your
