H2S & SCBA Mask Fit Test Consulting

Our goal is to provide effective and sufficient training and advise to clients where H2S
and other Toxic gasses are present. This service is all inclusive and will lead to a decrease
in Illness and Injuries, penalties and notices as well as an increase in morale of workers ,
safety awareness and compliance with health and safety principles and procedures.

Main expertise:
H2S training and certification(TEEX)
LEL and UEL ( Methane/H2S/Other)
SCBA mask fit testing including Respirators.
Confine space permit entry and rescue
Worker Awareness Training Program (New OHSA 2015)
Supervisor Awareness Training Program (New OHSA 2015)

Other:

OSHA Classification (MTC, LTI,ETC...)
Internal Auditing

Training, Testing and Audits

Employer's Responsibilities -General

The employer should provide training so that all employees whose work is regulated by
these section acquire the understanding, knowledge and skills necessary for the safe
performance of their duties.( OHSA, ANSI,NIOSH ) This includes.
Safety equipment. Correct usage and correct fitting as per standards.
Testing and Checking of equipment.
Drills and exercises to test response and rescue capabilities.
Audit of equipment, training records and action traction points.
Documentation of training, drills and audits.

Employer's Responsibilities Concerning Toxic Explosive Substances

An employer has various duties relating to hazardous materials, including the duty:
to identify hazardous materials in the prescribed manner and explain risk to workers.
to inform and train employees with regards to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS),
to provide information and prescribed instruction and training to workers who are
expose to toxic / explosive gasses like Methane, H2S and others.

Target Groups

Hydrogen sulfide is produced naturally from decaying organic matter. It can be
released from sewerage sludge, liquid manure, and sulfur hot springs, and with
natural gas. It is also used or is a by-product in many industrial processes such as:

Petroleum production and refining, oil and gas people
Sewer and wastewater treatment , municipality workers and farm workers
Agricultural silos and pits, farm workers
Textile manufacturing
Pulp and paper processing
Cement and related industries
Food processing
Hot asphalt paving
Chemical Factories and producers.
Mining
Breweries
Ambulance personnel
Fire and Rescue personnel when responding to incidents.

On Site Training and Testing

H2S training & Certification, 4 -6 hours
SCBA and Respiratory mask fitting test, 30 min. per client.
Confine Space Entry permits and Rescue protocols 1 day
Stretcher teams, Rescue training, and Emergency Response, 1 day
Health and Safety awareness, workers and supervisors as per OHSA 2015
Internal Audits, 2 days.

Why onsite training:
Personnel must be aware of risk and hazards in their specific work environment
Use equipment that they are familiar with, including correct usage, tests and calibration
On site training can be used as audit tool to highlight shortcomings.
Lower cost, training can be done during working hours.

H2S Training (MSDS)

The Hydrogen Sulfide training program should be considered as a core program which relates to many
other integral aspects of safety in the Oil & Gas Industry, such as, Gas Testing, Respiratory Protection,
Hazmat, Hazwoper and Confined Space Entry.

Course is intended for all workers in various industries who could be exposed to hydrogen sulphide (H2S).
The primary focus is to provide generic H2S course content to help workers work safely in and around H2S
environments. The course covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to protect oneself
and basic rescue techniques. Included MSDS and associates toxic-flammable gasses.

Course topics and activities include ( Course adjusted to work environment)
H2S properties and MSDS
Respiratory Protective Equipment, Respirators and SCBA
Detection of H2S. Fixed and personal devices, Rig Rats, etc...
Rescue Techniques
Case Studies and table top exercises.
Gas Detection and Respiratory Protective Equipment Overview
Written examination

On completion of this course the candidate will be able to identify the properties, sources and hazards of
H2S . Candidates will have the ability to respond according to the specific MSDS. This course is designed
to meet the API-RP-49 & 55, OSHA and ANSI requirements. Certificate valid for one year.

SCBA & Respirators
Mask Fitting Test
1910.134(a)(1)
In the control of those occupational diseases caused by breathing air contaminated with harmful dusts,
fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors, the primary objective shall be to prevent
atmospheric contamination. When effective engineering controls are not feasible, appropriate
respirators shall be used pursuant to this section. Person wearing respirators/SCBA will have to undergo
mask fit test for each specific make and model that will be valid for 1 year, a card will be issued with
the make and model number that the person was tested with.
1910.134(a)(2)
A respirator shall be provided to each employee when such equipment is necessary to protect the health
of such employee. The employer shall provide the respirators which are applicable and suitable for the
purpose intended. The employer shall be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a
respiratory protection program.
Confine Space Training

The objective of this training is to comply with standards as set below and will include:

Practical completion of confine space entry permits.
Practical sessions with gas measurements (Handheld), and air ventilation.
Practical sessions with self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) if on worksite.
Practical sessions with Rescue Procedures and updated medical treatment.
Drills and exercises as part of MERP/LERP.

H2S training and certification as per ANSI (ANSI/ASSE Z390.1-2006) and OHSA.(OSHA 29 CFR
1910.1200 (Haz-Com), 1910.134 (respiratory protection) and 1910.120(Haz-WOPER) standards.
NIOSH, Occupational Health Guidelines for H2S.
SCBA/ Respirator face piece fit testing is required by NFPA, ANSI, OSHA and other safety
standards.(OHSA Revised Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.134)
Confine space entry permit and training as per NIOSH ( A guide to safety in confine spaces and criteria
for a recommend standard: working in confine spaces) - OHSA 1910.146 and ANSI Z117.1-2009.
Lockout/Tag out of Energy - 29 CFR 1910.147 and ANSI Z244.1-1982

Pre-requisites
Emergency response training contains physically demanding and potentially stressful elements. All
personnel who participate in such training must be medically fit and capable of participating fully. Any
candidates with special needs must make this training company aware at the earliest opportunity.
