The project was undergone in KERALA KAUMUDI PVT LIMITED for a period of one and half month. Theoretical knowledge is insufficient to cope up with the modern functioning of the companies. So in order to gain practical knowledge , the project was done at Kerala kaumudi pvt limited on the topic QUALITY OF WORK LIFE.
BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM To study the existing working condition and analyse the quality of work life in the Kerala Kaumudi news paper industry.
To understand the training and development programmes of Kerala Kaumudi Pvt.Ltd.
ABOUT THE COMPANY Kerala Kaumudi, the fastest growing Malayalam daily, owes its genesis in 1911, to the visionary, Shri C V Kunjuraman, a man of letters and a teacher. He was also a reversed intellectual, social reformist and a true revolutionary in both letter and sprit. Under his inspiring leadership, Kerala Kaumudi has set high standards in journalism.
OBJECTIVE OF STUDY To know the existing working condition and analyse the quality of work life in the Kerala Kaumudi news paper mill. Understand how the training and development programmes helps to improve the quality of work life .
Hypothesis
The existing working conditions in the Kerala Kaumudi news paper industry are not favourable to improve the quality of life of the employees. The training and development programmes of Kerala Kaumudi Pvt.Ltd are effective to improve the work life of employees.
METHODOLOGY The methodology undertaken for this project: The study was conducted on the basis of primary data and secondary data.
a)Primary data The primary data were collected through structured questionnaire .
b) Secondary data Secondary data is obtained from various journals, employee register, annual report manuals and company website. STATISTICAL TOOLS APPLIED The following statistical tools are used :
Table ,graphs, diagrams , mean standard deviation and t-test SCOPE OF THE STUDY The study of Quality Work Life at Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd offers great scope to Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd in some areas where they are considered weak. The scope of the study also extends to other media companies and future researchers. The study helps in bridging gap between the theory and practice of management. By doing this work it helps to increase the practical knowledge. The company can find weak points in different areas.
LIMITATION OF STUDY An in-depth study was not possible because the time limit was the main constraint. Since Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd, is a private sector company, access to some important information was restricted. This made some difficulties during the time of analysis. There is no time for employees to interact with me.

The test result shows that the existing working conditions in the Kerala Kaumudi news paper industry are favourable to improve the quality of life of the employees. It reveals that majority of the employees have the opinion that the quality of life of the employees in Kerala Kaumudi Pvt.Ltd is good or above average. Therefore, the hypothesis that the existing working conditions in the Kerala Kaumudi news paper industry are not favourable to improve the quality of life of the employees may be rejected.

The Karl Pearsons Coefficient of Correlation disclose that there are proper correlation between the variables to improve the work life of employees in Kerala Kaumudi Pvt.Ltd. Most of the employees believe that the training and development programmes of Kerala Kaumudi Pvt.Ltd are effective to improve the work life of employees. Thus, the hypothesis that the training and development programmes of Kerala Kaumudi Pvt.Ltd are effective to improve the work life of employees may be accepted.
FINDINGS
That majority of the employes are having good opinion about the current working environment . That 80% of the employes are having good opinion about the working condition of the firm is depending upon the employee employers relationship in kerala kaumudi. That 76% of the employes are having good opinion about the training program provided by keralakaumudi. SUGGESTIONS
Improve employer-employee relations. To increase training facilities. To meet frequent executive meeting to solve problems. To give separate cabins in superior officers. Encourage and develop employees skill.
CONCLUSION Media has a strong role in nation-building. Todays communication is more complex. Competitors are coming up with more products and increased sales promotion strategies. Customers tastes and preference, life style and quality of life are changing.. What makes newspaper different from other media is that presents news in more analytical manner. It can influence and change peoples lives and their societies. Kerala Kaumudi has always worked for the development of society with its Forth right news and fearless views. Kerala Kaumudi spearheaded with a missionary zeal to enlighten the underprivileged and downtrodden masses in the society. Stress on credibility and unbiased reporting which is the motto of the Kerala Kaumudi since 1911.
