Shankar, as a political cartoonist, had drawn
some 1,500 cartoons of Jawaharlal Nehru, most
of them in Shankars Weekly. This compilation
is made from nearly 400 cartoons from the
Weekly. The volume is entitled Dont Spare Me
Shankar. These were Nehrus words to Shankar
when he inaugurated Shankars Weekly in 1948.
Set in chronological order, the cartoons show the
Nehru Era as Shankar saw it unfold itself. In them
he has succeeded in capturing the essence
of Nehru.
