FREDERICK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES 2014-2015 SEASON
Upcoming Concert Series and Schedule

FREDERICK, MDThe Frederick Symphony Orchestra has released a schedule for the upcoming
2014-2015 concert season. There are six concerts to be held at the Jack B. Kussmaul Theater at
Frederick Community College throughout the season. Each concert in the series will include a
guest conductor and instrument soloists.
The first concert of the season entitled Classical Favorites will be held on October 25,
2014 at 7:30 p.m. Guest conductor Vladimir Lande will appear alongside clarinet soloist Laura
Armstrong. Music includes Wagner: Prelude to Die Miestersinger, Weber: Clarinet Concerto
No. 2, and Dvork: Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95.
The Holiday Pops concert will be played twice; December 13, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. and
December 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Andrew Rosenfield will appear as the guest conductor on both
nights, as well as flute soloists Paulela Burchill and Linda Moss. Music includes Cimarosa:
Concerto in G Major for Two Flutes, Babes in Toyland, Fantasia on Greensleeves, and
Sleigh Ride.

From Darkness to Light will be the first concert of 2015, played on March 7 at 7:30 p.m.
with guest conductor Glenn Quader. Music selections include Rimsky-Korsakov: Russian Easter
Festival Overture, Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67, and a performance by the
Young Artist Competition Grand-Prize Winner.
Northern Lights will be held on May 2, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. featuring guest conductor
Barry Kolman and piano soloist John Wickelgren. Music includes Grieg: Holberg Suite, Op. 40
and Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op. 16, and Sibelius: Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43.
Swashbucklers and Buccaneers will conclude the season on June 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.
Andrew Rosenfield will be returning as guest conductor. Music includes selections from Robin
Hood, Pirates of the Caribbean, Go West, Dances with Wolves, and Hoedown.
