The Book of Proverbs Chapter 3

Proverbs 26:1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour

is not seemly for a fool.
Proverbs 3:35 The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
It is considered folly to honor fools:
Ecclesiastes There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as an error which proceedeth from
10:5 the ruler:
Ecclesiastes Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place.
10:6

Luke 6:26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false
prophets.

Luke Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the
20:46 markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
Luke Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: the same shall receive
20:47 greater damnation.
Proverbs 26:2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so
the curse causeless shall not come.
-------
Zechariah Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.
5:1
Zechariah And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length
5:2 thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.
Zechariah Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole
5:3 earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and
every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.
Zechariah I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the
5:4 thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain
in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones
thereof.
-------
Deuteronomy Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
11:26
Deuteronomy A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I
11:27 command you this day:
Deuteronomy And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but
11:28 turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods,
which ye have not known.
Proverbs 26:3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for
the fool's back.
The horse and the ass can be trained.
James Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their
3:3 whole body.
James Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet
3:4 are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
James Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a
3:5 matter a little fire kindleth!

Isaiah The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my
1:3 people doth not consider.
Isaiah Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are
1:4 corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto
anger, they are gone away backward.
The fool has to be punished.
Proverbs In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back
10:13 of him that is void of understanding.
Proverbs 26:4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also
be like unto him.
Avoid dealing with fools on their level:
Romans Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary
16:17 to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
-------
I Timothy O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain
6:20 babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
I Timothy Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
6:21
-------
II Timothy But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

3:11
Proverbs 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in
his own conceit.
Verses four and five seen to contradict each other, but it shows the double
minded way fools think:
Luke For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a
7:33 devil.
Luke The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a
7:34 winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
Luke But wisdom is justified of all her children.
7:35
There is no rest when it comes to arguing with a foolish man:

rest.

18:20 not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even
that prophet shall die.

18:21 hath not spoken?

18:22 come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet
hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

the mouth of fools.

the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

5:43 enemy.
Matthew But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that
5:44 hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Matthew That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to
5:45 rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

5:46 same?

his folly.

2:20 Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter

2:21 they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
II Peter But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own
2:22 vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Proverbs 26:12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is
more hope of a fool than of him.
It’s seems easier to teach someone who doesn’t know anything, than to
teach someone who has to unlearn heresies and dogmatic rhetoric.

Ephesians But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named
5:3 among you, as becometh saints;

5:4 rather giving of thanks.

silver.

Proverbs 26:24 – 28 is one of the longest and strongest sections against

hypocrisy, and it refers to hypocrisy among God’s people.

up deceit within him;
Proverbs 26:25 When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are
seven abominations in his heart.

Proverbs 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

with an evil heart sends towards the saints will return upon his own head.
Proverbs 26:28 A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it;
and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
The Matthew account speaks of how the Pharisees used flattery when they
took counsel on how they might entangle Jesus in his talk.

22:15

When someone comes to us with flattery, are we going to be able to perceive
their craftiness and not be blinded with flattering words?
