Life is a rough road.

Can you imagine a life without problems? What if problems dont exist? Well I guess, it wont
happen.

As my life starts in Bataraza, I can see aesthetical sceneries. I never expected that the place
assigned to me was this great. It has rich natural resources and have many produce.

What I expected is a large scale social issue but what brought to my attention is a more
sensitive, personal and intimate one that may have had the share of limelight but is still as
heart wrenching and soul breaking as it is.

During the first day, we had been chatting with my foster mom and that day a problem was
shared to me which I as a law student would be able to relate it to the knowledge my
professors taught to me. As clich as it may sound, I realized how woman could be so fragile
and yet so passive and sacrificial and that whatever life throws at her, she just take substantial
part of it and become apathetic afterwards.

I used to see only in top grossing films, but behold, it is now right before my very eye. My foster
mom is a battered woman of an adulterous man. She is abused in many ways.

I believe that the lack of availability of a local government unit in Bataraza which could cater the
psychological aspects of women being abused is the very issue. May it be psychological,
emotional or financial things issues. She blames herself for all the hurting and ego-consuming
manners which her husband is trying to integrate in her mind. A woman like that needs help. A
woman like that should be intervened by the government. But unfortunately, this help is not
present in the status quo and even if it is present, it is seemingly unavailable due to its failure to
advertise itself efficiently.

What happens then if the person we expect to mold our home is inutile and self consumingly
going after her husband?

Basic unit of society is place in crucial manner, where children are left behind to develop their
own morals and standards without guidance. This will then give birth to another social issue
which will create more and more problems. Crime rates would be high. Prostitution?drugs?
name it. This would then be the effect of unstable upbringing of children and empowerment of
women.

Life is a rough road that we should take which then mold us as a person. Problems exist to
make as tough. If problems are gone the world would be too perfect for the people to live in.
People will live without any spice in life and and things will be routinary and life will then be
boring to continue.
