Questions & Answers
How easy is it to pump water with the Emergency Hand Pump? A person of average
strength can easily pump a normal depth well. The leverage of the Deluxe unit makes it possible for
you to pump 100' with only 11.5 lbs. per stroke. At 200' you will only apply 23 lbs. per stroke.

How much water can the Emergency Hand Pump deliver? It depends on length and
frequency of strokes, but most people can pump two to three gallons per minute.

How deep can I pump from? Most people can easily pump down to 240' and get about 1.5
GPM.

Can I install the Emergency Hand Pump in a 2 well?
Yes there is a 2, 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 6.25, and 7 / 8 caps with split flange.

Can I install the Emergency Hand Pump myself? Yes. With very little assistance, a person
of average mechanical ability can install the system. No special tools are necessary. You will want a
pipe gripper to hold the pipe and pump when lowering it into the well, so you do not drop it.

Can I use the Emergency Hand Pump in freezing climates? Yes. You will drill a 1/16"
weep hole in the pipe below the frost level for your area. The water will seek that level after you quit
pumping.

Will it be necessary to remove my submersible pump, before installing the Emergency
Hand Pump? No. As long as you have room for a 1" pipe with coupling to pass by the pitless
adapter, you should have no trouble putting an Emergency Hand Pump into your well.

What if my casing is only 4" inside? Do the 1" pipe and coupling test and if it passes the
pitless, you are OK.
