Our state is striving to raise the standard of education of our country. Candidly speaking,
attainment of international standard in education depends on the shoulders of tutors and
demonstrators as they are the main pillars of the higher education and fully responsible to produce
well-disciplined citizens. Therefore, the role of university teachers (tutors and demonstrators,
needless to say, is important nowadays.
!n fact, teachers (tutors and demonstrators should have special "ualifications apart from
educational "ualification. They should try their best to become good and able teachers. They should
always be ready to improve themselves in knowledge and master the sub#ects they specialize in and
teach. They must work with zeal and perseverance to ac"uire further education for them. $oreover,
they must be able to measure the level of intelligence of the students and their power of assimilation.
%hile teaching students, they must establish rapport with students. They must show understanding,
kindness, consideration and help towards them. They should have close attention, guidance, and
supervision on their students so that the students can trust them and confide their difficulties in them.
!n conclusion, under the present education system, the role of university teachers (tutors and
demonstrators is designed not only to teach students school sub#ects but also all-round development
such as discipline, collective spirit or team spirit, patriotic spirit, sacrificing spirit and so on.
Therefore, we should ac"uire these "ualifications as well as academic "ualification if we want to
become good university teachers.

Teachership is not a garland of honour and respect but a garland of patience and concern to be
adorned by students. !n other words, a true teacher is the noblest servant of his students.
True it is that the most faithful servant always fulfils his master&s desire. 'imilarly, a true
teacher always gives his helping hand in every difficulty of his students. (nselfish service is his
motto. )is character is stainlessly pure and flawless. *o teacher can ever win confidence of his
students unless he possesses good moral character. )e must be a man of deeds. *ever must he be a
man of words, for great speakers cannot be great men in the full sense. )e must be punctual and
must never be late to work. Of course, he must be good at teaching and must know his sub#ect very
well. )e must always make sure that his teaching is neither dull nor tedious. +esides, it is important
that he is always kind, patient, considerate to his students. )e must love all his students e"ually.
!n a sense, a true teacher is a gardener who nurtures plants, the best guide who shows the best
way to success and the dutiful protector who protects his students against any attack of harm and
damage.
(Good Language Teacher): friendly, e,plain things, give good notes, know how to treat someone who sits at a desk for
si, hours, let the students do it by themselves, group work, do the lesson together with the students, take out-elicit
things we know, talk about his life, talk about the problems of the school, talk about other sub#ects, play games, tell
#okes, (is one of us, don&t push weak students, ask students& opinions, there is always a dialogue, (is like an
actor-actress, pretend a lot, forceful but not strict, educated, know psychology, use movement to make meaning clear,
make sure everyone understands, funny, read in a tone that makes meaning clear, get close to students, believe in
students and make them believe in themselves, make us proud of ourselves, have his-her own personality,
e,perienced, make grammar clear, try to communicate, give advice, talk about personal problems, give a lot of books
to read, use "uestions a lot, ask all students "uestions, participate in social work, do e,periments or practical work,
talk about the lesson, know the sub#ect matter, (is more like a comedian
(Bad Language Teacher): very strict, don&t let us speak, give marks all the time, (is fi,ed in the chair, dominate over
us, shout for no apparent reasons, give a lot of (difficult tests, force us to do things, don&t discuss other problems,
start the lesson immediately, don&t smile, stare at students but don&t say a word, show a difficult grammar rule that
can be forgotten easily, shout when we make mistakes, nervous, talkative (talk and talk but do not teach, speak flat,
#ust say the lesson and nothing else, there is a distance between us, believe all the students are the same, believe
students all know the same thing, like a machine, not prepared, rigid, sarcastic and ironic, treat kids like ob#ects, only
lessons but don&t discuss anything else, avoid answering "uestions, don&t let us laugh nor speak, discriminating
