KONI CA AUTOREFLEX- T3
1. The KONICA Autorefl ex-T3 i s a ful l y automati c
SLR*(TTL-AEC system) in which preference is given to
shutter speed. It is also usable in manual shooting.
2. The KONICA Autoreflex-T3 has a TTL meter of the
vari abl e meteri ng type i n whi ch the ki nd of meteri ng that
is fitted to the picture coverage angle of a given
interchangeable lens is selected. Metering may be done
either at the full opening of the taking lens or with the
lens stopped down, and this feature is common to all
interchangeable lenses.

3. All kinds of informafion necessary for picture-taking,
such as the shutter speed and aperture val ue, and the
meter needle may be instantly ascertained in the field of
view of the finder.
4. The lens used in your camera is a high-quality and
high-performance color-coated Hexanon which displays
its full force in color photogaphy.
5. Your @mera makes i t possi bl e to
produce perfect
multiple exposures, and there are no shears in picture.area
at all.
6. The shutter is of a metal plane type and excels in
winterization. It is synchronized to strobos at shutter
speeds of up to l l l 25 sec. Both hot shoe cl i p and M.X
synchro sockets are available on your camera.
7. Each mani pul ati on control i s equi pped wi th a safety l ock.
For exampl e, your camera i s provi ded wi th a shutter
button lock which concurrently serves as the meter switch
to prevent erroneous mani pul ati on, an EE rel ease button
designed to prevent the EE system from being accideqtal-
ly put into operation, and a self-timer button.

KONI CA AUTOREFLEX- T3
1. Die KONICA Autoreflex-T3 ist eine vollautomatische,
einiiugige Spiegelreflex-Kamera. Die Blende wird bei
vorgewdhlter Belichtungszeit automatisch eingestellt. Die
Automatik kann auch abgeschaltet und die Blende von
Hand eingestellt werden.
2. Bei der KONICA Autoreflex-T3 wird das Licht vom
CdS-Belichtungs-MefJsystem durch das Objektiv gemessen.
Durch eine variable Winkelmessung pafit sich das Mef5felc

der Brennweite des verwendeten Objektivs an. Die Belich-
tungsmessung erfolgt bei voll geciffneter Blende bei
vollautomatischen Objektiven, bei nicht automatischen
Objektiven und bei Verwendung von Zwischenringen,
Adaptern, Balgengeriiten usw. wird die Belichtung durch
Abblenden auf Arbeitsblende festgelegt.
3. Jede zlm Fotografieren notwendige Information, wie
Verschluf5zeit, Blendenwert oder Stellung der Belichtungs-
messernadel, kann im Sucher unmittelbar abgelesen wer-

den.
4. Die Original-Hexanon-Objektive
sind hochwertig-vergtitete
Qualitritsobjektive.
S. Mit der KONICA Autoreflex-T3 sind auch Mehrfachbeli-
chtungen auf ein Filmbild miiglich.
6. Der Ganzmetall-schlitzverschlul] arbeitet auch bei ex'
tremen Temperaturen im Sommer und im Winter ein-
wandfrei. Er- ist fiir Elektronenblitze bis lll25 sec.
synchronisiert. Je ein X- und M-Blitzkontakt sowie ein
aufsetzbarer Sucherschuh mit Blitzmittenkontakt sind
vorhanden.
7. Die Kamera verfiigt iiber verschiedene Sicherheitssperren,
wie z.B. Ausloseisperre, die gleichzeitig den Stromkreis

1. Turn the cover of the Mercury Battery Chamber

2. Insert the two cel l s i nto the mercury battery chamber,
the "+" si de up, as i ndi cated i n the fi gure pri nted on the
seal i nsi de the chamber.

(3) from the posi ti on of "OFF and depress i t i n

Note that al l the marks necessary for the checki ne
of the battery are col ored i n red. Make sure that th6
meter needl e wi l l come over the red mark when the fi l m
and shutter speeds are set to the red and the l ever i s
depressed i n the di recti on of the red-col ored al phabet
"C". Check the battery i n the correct order shown on
the battery check seal on the bottom of the camera
body.
The meter takes two 1.35V Nati onal H-C, Mal l ory
PX-675 or Eveready EPX-675 mercury battery cel l s.
Care must be exerci sed i n sel ecti ne the cel l s as there are
cells which look identical in ihape but differ in
sti pul ated vol tage, such as battery cel l s.
In the event that your camera i s not to be used over a
l ong span of ti me, take out the mercury battery cel l s
and keep them i n a pl ace free from moi sture.

The Autoreflex-T3 is the world's first professional
Through-The-Lens metering 35mm Single-Lens Reflex cam-
era to have fully automatic AEC exposrue control. The
AEC meter system establ i shes contact to al l KONICA
Hexanon AR l enses by means of a meter-actuated coupl i ng
lever. When the shutter release is depressed, the spring
l oaded aperture i n the l ens i s tri pped to cl ose to the l i mi t
determined by this coupling lever. This limit is the precise
aperture required for a perfect exposure at that instant
when you press the button.
With a KONICA Hexanon AR lens installed in your
Autoreflex-T3 there is no rteed to waste time before
shooti ng to match the needl e to a mark. You onl y need to
focus and compose, then press the shutter release

taken care of. Ful l concentrati on can thus be made on the
spontaneous or estheti c needs of your photography. .Il z
actuality, the KONICA Autoreflex-T3 offers not one but
three optional methods of arriving at the correct of desired

AEC Meteri ng: Wi th a KONICA Hexanon AR (Automati c
Exposure) lens, the needle in the viewfinder serves only to
let you know at which f/stop the fully automatic metering
system will make the picture for you.
Shutter and
diaphragm are cross-coupled. Thus if you choose a high
shutter speed to stop action, the diaphragm will be set for a
wi der openi ng automati cal l y. On the other hand, shoul d
you need a smaller stop for greater Depth-of-Field, simply
turn the Shutter Speed Dial (20) to a slower speed. The
needle in the information center of the Viewfinder will
keep you i nformed. At the same ti me,
you can read the
shutter speed setti ng bel ow the vi ewi ng area
(see page
33).

Stopped-Down Exposure Meteri ng: Wi th KONICA and
diaphragm
(not AE), as
well as with extension rings and bellows, the Stopped-Down
method i s used. Here the exposure i s read at the actual
aperture used to make the picture. The needle in the

figure. This can also be done by changing
the shutter speed setting. Leterally thouSands of lenses can
be used wi th thi s system. In addi ti on to KONICA Auto-

The compound dual CdS metering system in the Autoreflex-T3 is very
selective, and is generally not unduly affected by subject matter
out si de i t s pri mary exposure readi ng range. I t i s programmed t o
obt ai n i t s pri mary exposure dat a f rom t he mai n subj ect area. Thi s i s
deemed to be the lower center third of the total area. The peripheral
upper and marginal two thirds contributes in a lesser degree to the
compound exposure date. There are however a number of unusual
situations that require special handling.
