Pastors Notes:

I want to first of all thank

Pastor Emeritus James Shealy,
Pastor Jason Fowler and Rev.
Buster Ball for taking care of the pulpit in my
absence. Our church is very blessed and fortunate to have such quality ministers of the gospel
who step in and keep the ministry going when one of our staff is away for whatever reason. I
have heard and read nothing but positive comments concerning the messages. I was able to
watch a little of the morning service live on the internet. What a blessing that ministry of our
church is!!!! Please continue to pray for the Church of God as we begin the main General
Assembly meetings and services. It has been an honor to be involved in some Pre-Assembly
meetings and also to serve in a true servant role in helping some brothers and sisters. I am so
blessed to belong to the Church of God!!!!!

Dont forget that you can keep up with the General Assembly by going to this web address:
www.GA14.org. It is my and my wifes great honor to represent you at the Church of God
General Assembly. Please pray that the right decisions will be made to guide the Church of God
into the next years of her existence should Jesus tarry.

Please continue to pray for those that experienced loss in their family over the weekend. They
will continue to need our prayer support in the days ahead. Pray for the Kerns family, the Hand
family and the Hathcock family. May the Lord send His peace that passes understanding to
cover you and the comforting presence of the Holy Ghost to comfort you.

This Saturday is GREAT START WOODRUFF! This is a special coming together of the
churches in Woodruff to provide school supplies for students in District 4 schools. I want to
thank Jason & Alicia Hayes for providing leadership to this project this year. Thank YOU for
bringing in school supplies and leaving them in the lobby each service. We were asked to collect
3 ring binders, notebook paper and black/blue ink pens and you did a wonderful job of providing
these supplies. If you would like to help be part of handing out the supplies on Saturday, contact
Jason Hayes (jhayes@spartanburg4.org).

The United States Post Office has once again instituted some new changes to mailings that will
affect those that receive the printed bulletin. For the size bulletin we now do (we do that size so
that we can include as much information as needed as well as pictures, etc) they are going to
charge an additional 21 cents on top of the regular first class stamp. We do understand that the
bulletin is one of our primary means of communication but we also want to be good stewards of
the Lords resources. So after doing some thinking and discussion with the Church Board, we
are going to be making some changes. Beginning the first Sunday in September, we will be

handing out the bulletin on Sundays. This will replace the news & highlights. There will still be
an email bulletin that will go out on Fridays instead of Tuesdays, but the regular bulletin will be
available on Sundays. We will continue to mail the bulletin to those that are in nursing homes,
assisted living or shut-in. If a person isnt at church on Sunday, they can get it on Wednesday,
go to our Church Facebook page and get it or get the emailed version. We will also mail 1 time a
month a large calendar that will have the months events on it as well as a few announcements.
We believe this will effectively meet the need for communication and also be the best usage of
the Lords resources. We know change is not easy, but often necessary. Thank you for your
understanding!

Stewardship Series beginning this coming Sunday.. I am blessed by being a GIVER!!!

tables in the lobby or in the cloak room. This will be necessary for all collections including the

If you would be willing to cook a dish, please see Lisa Terry.

Hey yall, Hope all is well with you and your family. Our Band Of Brothers fishing trip to Santee
has been changed from September 13th to September 20th. This change was due simply
because we need two boats to accommodate our group and one of the boats was not available.
This is the only change. Slots are filling up so get your $25.00 in to Wayne Bishop to make sure
you get to go. Limited spots available.

Also, I have been asked if "any man" can go on this trip and the answer is YES.
We don't want to project an image that Band Of Brothers is a select group of men from the
Woodruff Church Of God who are trying to keep men out of this ministry, we are QUITE the
opposite. We are a group of men who love the Lord Jesus and we meet on a monthly basis to
teach, learn, and to keep each other encouraged as we become disciples that the word of God
says we should be. So whether you attend our monthly meetings or not, you are still our
brother. Whether you help with projects or not, you are still our brother. Whether you attend
WCOG or not, we love each of you and want you to know that you have a full support system of
disciples to help you become who God himself has destined you to become. You ARE our
brother.

SAM MINISTRY/JOY CLUB:

On August 28 we are planning a trip to Shealy's BBQ in Batesburg. Batesburg is about 75 miles
from Woodruff which means we will need to leave the church at around 4 PM. We are to be
the restaurant ready to eat at 6 PM.

There is a sign-up sheet on the SAM Bulletin Board and you need to go ahead and sign up as
soon as possible. This is a Dutch Treat meal and the cost is $13.00. If you have a van and would
be willing to drive, please make that clear on the sign-up sheet.

This will be a great opportunity for fellowship and the food is second to none.

Richie and Shannon Bishop have agreed to host this month's activity on Friday August 29th.
Each family attending is asked to bring something to eat and drink so there will be no other
cost. There will be a sign up sheet on our bulletin board in the hallway at church. Their address
will be on the sign up sheet. If you are 35 to 50 we hope to see you there!
