Q: Who is he (line 1)?

From the forest came the call, a long-drawn howl, like, yet unlike, any noise made by a
husky dog. He sprang through the sleeping camp and in swift silence dashed through the
woods. As he drew closer to the cry he went more slowly, with caution in every
movement, till he came to an open place among the trees. And looking out, he saw,
standing on its hind legs, with nose pointed to the sky, a long, lean, timber wolf.

opening:

E.g. 1:
Q: 12 DSE PP Q6
Learning English through Sports Communication
There is talk of certain schools removing PE lessons from the curriculum so students can
concentrate more on academic subjects. Write a letter to the Secretary of Education
expressing your views on this proposal.

Students Script:
Dear Secretary of Education,
I am writing to express my views on the topic- whether schools should remove PE lessons
from the curriculum.

With an exceedingly tight schedule, students do not have enough time to study. Also,
distractions are omnipresent, hindering students from learning. Therefore, cancelling PE
lessons may be a possible way to let students concentrate more on studies. Seemingly, it is
true that they may have more time to study; however, is it really a good way to solve the
problem?

E.g. 2:
Q: 12 DSE Q.2
Learning English through Sports Communication
You have been asked by Ms chan, the teacher in charge of Campus TV ,to produce a
30-minute programme about a local Hong Kong sporting event. You need to write an email
to Ms Chan. In this email, suggest a sporting event , explain what would be included in the
programme and outline how you will make the programme interesting to your schoolmates.

3. Problem 3(5-5**): ,

Learning English through Debating
You are a member of the school debating club. Your club is entering a debating contest and

4. Problem 4(5-5**): ,
2013-14 (grammatical mistakes ,
focus):

E.g. 1:
Q: 12 UE Q.3
Theres no place like home is a famous saying in English. Write an essay discussing this
statement with reference to your views on emigrating to another country. Provide your
essay with a suitable title.

It might also be noted that there is a huge difference between the culture of home and
other countries. It is impossible that culture of one country is the same of another one. If
you immigrate to another country, you need to waste many times to learn another culture
like language and living style in an effort to integrate into a new society. Not to mention that
you cant fully understand the language of the country, leading you to lot of inconvenient
like unable to communicate with others in the country. Consider the case of Hong Kong,
which is a multicultural place. It is manifest that the culture has an enormous difference
between the Chinese and Hong Kong. The China citizens like to throw rubbish, jump the
queue and urinate everywhere ; But the Hong Kongers consider this act as disgusting while
the mainlanders think they do nothing wrong as they always do that in China. Therefore, it
can have a big difference between your home country and other countries. From this
perspective it is obvious that the culture differences can lead you to a complicated situation.
However, there are by no means the only sight argument for my stance.
