ISIS
I lived in Iraq for most of my life so far. I saw numerous changes to the country since I was a
little girl. My father was an officer in the Iraqi Army, and my mother was a schoolteacher. My
country has had a lot of changes during my upbringing, but the biggest change was when the
United States came to Iraq. I lived through the invasion and countless changes took effect. I saw
fighters from all around the Arab world and from all walks of life. I saw something that was hard
to understand, they werent fighting for my country, but for their own beliefs in Islam. I did not
like any of what I was seeing. I had developed a hatred for how I was being raised in Islamic
home. It was becoming stricter and harder to bear every day; as for a woman you are responsible
for everything, even your brothers misstates. I decided to leave in 2009 after seeing so much
misguided hatred. I fell in love with the Americans that were occupying my country as I watched
Muslims turn into cowards, and into evil monsters with ideologies and beliefs that I never
dreamed of being around me. I saw hatred between the Sunni and Shia, one that created violence
everywhere. You had to watch your back constantly. I heard of the war in Afghanistan and how
Al Qaeda had started to police Muslim societies into as strict law they called Sharia Law. When I
asked my mother about it, she told me it was a strict form of law from the Quran that the Islamic
leaders within Al Qaeda took and used harshly on others. Giving them excuses to cut hands,
stone women, pulling gold teeth, taking television away, and taking rights away from women. I
did not want to live in this backward thinking place anymore. My brothers did nothing, yet got
everything. I did everything, and yet got nothing.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is the reason I do not like Islam anymore. They have been
taken over much of Iraq, and have done so much harm to innocent people. They kill Christians
just because of their religion, the kill Muslims for not abiding by their strict law, and they have
no value or morals in doing it. They think they are doing the will of Allah, but instead they are
taking the rights from everyone. I have seen first had of how these groups work. ISIS is a killing
machine, and there is nothing that you can do politically to change the mind of the ISIS. They
need to be fought against and taken out fast. They move fast, the spread their ideology fast. The
only people that benefit are the evil men that commit this terrorism. They rape women in front of
their husbands; they cut off the heads of their enemies. ISIS is the new terrorist that doesnt even
compare to Al Qaeda. Every group has its subordinate that wishes more would be done,
Germany had Hitler, and now Al Qaeda has the leader of ISIS who wanted more.
