This is a Petition to the Ever Blessed
Theotokos, which is sung during every
type of catastrophe or affliction.
It was composed by Theostriktos the Monk
or, according to some, Theophanios
The Service of the Small Paraklesis is
chanted in times of distress and sorrow
of soul and during the first fourteen
days of August - during the Fast before
the Dormition of the Theotokos on 15
August.

And Mary said: My soul Magnifies the
Lord, and my spirit Rejoices in God
my Saviour, for He has regarded the
lowly estate of His Handmaiden.
For behold henceforth all generations
will call me Blessed; for He Who is
Mighty has done Great Things for
me, and Holy is His Name!
And Mary remained with her about
