We had a great Carols
and lessons service at
Runanga last Sunday
evening. It was special
to gather as a wider
parish and to enjoy some carol singing
which always helps me to get into the
Christmas spirit.
JANUARY SERVICES
Nicky and I will be away for part of
January but my father will be staying in
our house for some of that time. On
the 11th of January Robin Kingston will
be preaching at both Cobden and
Runanga, on the 18th Logan will be on
deck at both locations and on the 25th
it will be Wayne Lorimer at just
Cobden.
OBITUARY
DOROTHY MAY SWEARS 1927-2008
(Cobden Vicarage 1971 - 1976).
Dorothy died at Naomi Courts Nelson
on 11 December 2008 having been in
care for 8 months. Her first love was
her Lord Jesus Christ and she was not
ashamed to share this faith with others
and at times very strongly which upset
some people! She and her husband

Church. Her love of Peter and her
family was very evident. Dorothy was a
keen gardener her pride and joy being
her orchids. May she rest in peace and
rise in glory. Barry Smithson
represented the Parish at her funeral in
St. Thomas' Motueka on Monday.

CHRISTMAS SERVICES
We've got a great line-up of Christmas
services. On the 23rd Dec at 8pm we'll
be singing carols at Blackball in the
Hilton. On Christmas Eve we have a
family service at Cobden at 6:30pm
followed by supper and carols in the
rest homes for those who are keen.
Then on Christmas Day we have
services at Runanga at 8am and
Cobden at 9:30pm followed by a
shared Christmas lunch at Cobden for
those want to join us. Just touch base
with Nancy Holman if you want to be a
part of the Christmas lunch.
