Approved )roduct/ A coating material that has een approved y the (SA as
meeting the requirements of the applicale A)&S or SA$SS. -f no applicale
A)&S or SA$SS exists, the product must e certified in writing y the (SA that it
is suitale for the intended service. 0nly approved products are allowed for use on
Saudi Aramco 1os. These requirements apply to all coatings referred to in all the
SA!S*2*series standards.
&orrosive -ndustrial Atmosphere/ Areas exposed to gases, fumes, mists or dusts
from chemical or industrial facilities. This term does not include direct contact
with splashed or spilled chemicals.
$aintenance &oating3)ainting/ Application of coating to preserve the useful state
of an existing coating. (epairing is the most common method to maintain a
coating. (eplacing completely an existing coating is not maintenance coating.
$ild Atmosphere/ Areas not affected y either marine or industrial environments,
ut receive enough moisture in the air to cause corrosion if the caron steel is not
coated.
4ew &onstruction &oating/ Application of coating on a completely new and
uncoated facility, equipment or machinery. 4ew coating also applies to the coating
application on completely are sustrate that was previously coated.
