August, 2014 - Faivish Pewzner along with his wife pledged up
to $360,000 in donations for the Womens Mikvah Mei Chaya Mushka in a move the
health executive in New York said was motivated and inspired by the memory of his dad
R Hillel Pewzner obm who will mark his first yahrzeit on Tammuz 14
th
.
According to an article that was published on COLlive.com the donation marks a very
important accomplishment for the Mikvah Mei Chaya Mushka which was unveiled
during a ground breaking ceremony that saw around 250 men and women as well as
children brave the scorching Sunday sun as respected speakers drawn from the Jewish
community re-empathized the importance of this new initiative.
In his speech to the audience,
Rabbi Bogomilsky recalled previous
efforts and challenges to build
Mikvahs in communists Russia but
expressed deep confidence that the
new Mikvah will play a key role in
promoting family purity in the
coming few years. The dream of a
new Mikvah is now becoming a
reality and this sentiment was
echoed by speakers during the
ceremony including Farkash and the Gabbai of Congregation Bais Shmuel Chabad.

The shuls Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Jacobson also took to the podium where he noted that
even though for some time now the Jewish community had discussed the problems they
faced on a round table, the New Mikvah presented a new opportunity for these
problems to be solved by what he called a group of courageous souls who decided to
act instead of philosophize. The ground breaking ceremony was endowed with a
number of memorable activities.
However one that caught the eyes of many was when some of the avid supporters of
the new Mikvah poured some sprinkles of Smirnoff vodka over the dry gravel for a
LChaim and children as well as other key supporters took shovels and shifted the earth
over the cornerstone. All the same, there is growing hope that indeed the donation by
Faivish Pewzner will go a long way in helping the Mikvah stand on its feet and grow in
the future. Click Faivish Pewzner Rabbi
