After having spent all-day preparing that mega-communication, its necessary to defer comprehensive coverage of fascinating facets of the newsto focus upon what may have been buried within. Inasmuch as the Holocaust-Educational-Mandate is now going to become law, it is desirable to note what will be published in the Jewish Exponent this week *noting that Id remitted notice of its passage to Eric Berger immediately prior to the publication-deadline]. Due to space-limitations, all prior input [on the first two versions of this article] was fragmented, but can be distilled thusly:
This was depicted as the third incarnation of this article, with prior versions having first introduced the issue [noting senate passage] and then having included specific reference to the delayed-mandate that had been so assiduously sought during the past seven months [identical URL but, within this website, having different text]. The reader can scroll-backwards to check-out the evolution of events.
The two letters associated with the revised-article dealt with direct interactions with the author of the essay ["I spoke last night @ Federation with Eric, and he promised to confirm my assertions by reading the primary-source data [unfiltered] and to correct the above article accordingly...presumably, before it is published next week."]
The second letter also contained my conceptualization of how this topic should be explored pedagogically:
Readers may also wish to know that advocates for this end-point have accommodated other voices by working to ensure that this UNIT will not only encompass the Shoah, but will also confront other genocidal events [such as the Armenian massacre] within the context of human rights violations. The goal is to ensure that curriculum is not just "historic" in nature; rather, we envision students learning of more modern manifestations of such mass-cruelty [e.g., Rwanda] so that they can be encouraged to maintain vigilance when future behaviors comport with these templates. We want our youth to recognize that the "bases" for such inhumanity may vary and may overlap; sociological, religious, economic, political forces must all be weighed when conveying an appreciation for the profundity of this particular lesson-plan.
The task remains to capture the essence of what had been uploaded after the initial article had been composed. After I had noted that reference to the delayed-mandate had been indicated, Joyce Oxfeld wrote [to me]: "Thanx for giving us the real story on the education bill." To-follow is the text of what I wrote:
Omitted from this piece, unfortunately, is the pivotal component of this 1598
legislation; it will "REQUIRE SCHOOL ENTITIES TO OFFER INSTRUCTION IN THE HOLOCAUST, GENOCIDE AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS...IF THE STUDY CONDUCTED BY THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION [a report on the "voluntary" nature of this initiative, to be issued no later than November 30, 2017] DEMONSTRATES THAT LESS THAN NINETY PERCENT OF THE SCHOOL ENTITIES ARE OFFERING INSTRUCTION IN THE HOLOCAUST, GENOCIDE AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS."
This language rectified what had become "the stumbling-block during the past 1/2-year of intense lobbying that was pursued regarding this trenchant issue." Thus, I opined that I hadn't sensed any cogent reason to have excluded this information, that only Sen. Washington had been absent], that the bill would now fly through the House, and that the lede should now reference how common-ground had been ID'ed and manifest.
I also cited a reference depicting the key-characteristics of shoddy journalism, affording the reader the opportunity to draw independent conclucions: How to Be a Really Lousy Journalist for Fun and Profit [citing each chapter-heading]. Having channeled my impressions of the piece accordingly, this was remitted to Mr. Eric Berger, who would presumably amend his essay accordingly [as he did].
Finally, a series of hyperlinks was provided that the reader could ponder if a more detailed blow-by-blow were to pique interest:
For the background of what transpired...note this summary of the database.
For the prodrome for what transpired this week in the Senate...note info in this follow-up document.
For an explanation of the rationale we followed rigorously, despite unexpected and sustained opposition from the PA Jewish Coalition...note this description of our rationale.
For a distillation of how we approached the reconvening of the Senate last week...note how we planned to communicate with key-people.
For a distillation of the key-questions raised with regard to the original bill...note the way the legislative cover-memo was painstakingly parsed.
Finally, for a terse summary of what transpired.
I concluded by expressing availability if questions existed *anyone wishing color-commentary can contact me @ rsklaroff@gmail.com+ and concluded that, overall, no one "compromised" as everyone ID'ed and ultimately enacted "common-ground." 1599
Attention flipped to efforts to urge the Temple-U Adjunct-Prof to recant anti-Semitism/anti-Zionism, using leverage supplied by a simplified deviation from societal norms, namely, his overt Holocaust- minimalization. Supplied here have been personal communications intended to nudge the University to do-the-right-thing, deigning to help the perpetrator to recognize publicly what transpiredand then perhaps to achive a semblance of secondary-gain were he to be sufficienty enlightened to retract the occupation-rhetoric. These issues were felt to be urgent, perhaps becausein the process of pursuing themit had seemed necessary to recruit like-minded people to coadopt the strategy being followed. This applied both to the political lobbying [exhaustively detailed, perhaps as a model-case] and to the activist lobbying [documenting my pathway through the Provost-PR to the Department-Dean.
Recalling other topics covered, the key-point is that BHO is failing on multiple fronts; failure in Syria has presaged failure in Iraq, although efforts must be maximized to help Kurdistan flourish in both countries. That this is c/w this physicians efforts during the past half-decade is both gratifying and challenging, for discourse remains focused on the Sunni/Shiite divide; thus, it remains desirable to promote the capacity of Kurds to guide co-religionists who dont share the unique culture of these previously-stateless people. [Awareness of this fact is rising; e.g., Kurds Are a Beacon of Hope in the Middle East.]
Also, regarding anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, it is noted that the Metropolitan Opera cancelled broadcast of Leon Klinghoffer, but has not cancelled its performance; also, Israel is continuing to focus upon Hamas as responsible [with the PA] for kidnappings. These events are occurring as Epic US-Iran military cooperation in Iraq coincides with Israels war on Tehrans Palestinian ally, Hamas; one hopes BHO will see-the-light ASAP.
*This is provided again, for Id failed to ID Natalie Portman.+
Regarding the Illegals, it is increasingly clear that BHO is again demonstrating his venom against those who adhere to rule-of-law; listen to the hyperlinks provided by DSouza for insights that he also provided @ 5 p.m. on Dick Morris radio-show [1210-a.m.] for an explanation of his effort to spew-forth envy as part of his anti-colonialism attitude.
At least one Dem/lib who pleads for gun-control [despite the 2 nd Amendment] is pleased with the SCOTUS decision that precludes flipping purchases [even among licensees], but the ultimate ability of people to protect themselves is illustrated by almost-daily cites. 1600
Also, Canada is again getting itchy while the EPA Chief Delighted Bill Maher by Admitting to a War on Coal; the Keystone-XL languishes, as Hillary eschews discussing it.
Of course, BHOs Scandal-Sheet is expanding exponentially, now with BHO-defenders reeling when confronted with the fact that othes in the upper-echelon of the IRS also having mysteriously lost copies of their e-mails; again, quoting from todays radio-show, Dick Morris interviewed an attorney for TEA-Party groups who appears empowered to redouble discovery-efforts [whether direct or through Congressional oversight]. Thus, Benghazi-Gate wont dissipate following capture of one alleged-perpetrator thereof.
More VA FALLOUT: DOCS SAY AGENCY PUNISHED STAFF WHO SPOKE UP A half-dozen current and former staff members - four doctors, a nurse and an office manager in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Alaska - said they faced retaliation for reporting systemic problems. Their accounts, some corroborated by internal documents, portray a culture of silence and intimidation within the department and echo experiences detailed by other V.A. personnel in court filings, government investigations and congressional testimony, much of it largely unnoticed until now.
Bergdahl will now be investigated, notwithstanding the weirdness of his father; overall, Islamism should have achieved proper status as a dire threat to Western Civilization, regardless of whether it is manifest via Iran or via al-Qaeda. Thats why efforts to numb Americans to the risk of Sharia Law constitute the highest-priority propaganda goal.
The politics of the GOP-House leadership-battle will, I believe, allow for McCarthy to rise to the level of Majority Leader, although a true-conservative may become the Whip; both Rushs commentary and associated e-mails are making everyone vigilant against sudden proposal of an amnesty-bill for, far from feeling fearful, the establishment is mad andthereforeitching to pursue its agenda, now that the Primary-Season is winding down.
In other national political-news, it seems the GOPs senatorial-nominees will befit the Buckley Rule, with polls suggesting the positive impact of Cantors loss in many races. Quotes from Cruz continue to be as scintillating as necessary, and efforts to promote Bush may be flagging; hell easily displace Rick Perrys effort to return. Although its too early to ID what may become campaign-fodder [domestic vs. foreign vs. social], it is remarkable that major concerns *economy, education, ObamaDontCare+ are being squished-away by aforementioned intrigue, both within the Primary Season and projected to remain extant after Labor day. ,Also, dont miss the chance to view a brief satire focused on BHO; the latest is a barn-burner: Hitler Reacts To Eric Cantor's Defeat.}
The media are continuing to misbehave [both print and broadcast], both by commission and omission; for example, no one speaks of how Putin just introduced tanks into the Eastern Ukraine conflict. Admixed are manifestations of the Culture-Wars, and they are correlated with debates regarding the fusion of Conservatism and Libertarianism among those in the GOP.
1601
Among the Dems, it is clear that Hillary did quite-well during her FNC-interview, even as follow-up could snag her; for example, she said she knew of no evidence supporting a terrorist-etiology of Benghazi-Gate, despite numerous quotes from Presser-Carney.
Turmoil persists in Harrisburg; perhaps matters will be clarified by the time when the Signing-Ceremony is held for the Holocaust-Education-Mandate; Ill want to attend *assuming I dont have to testify+, if for nother reason than to have the opportunity to eyeball Hank Butler. Also, imminent release of the Sandusky/PSU Report by AG-Kane indubitably enhances apprehension, despit e the leak, for obvious electoral reasons.
The WSJ/NBC News Poll Shows Erosion in BHO's Support; his job approval rating is 41%, matching a previous low; approval of his handling of foreign policy hit a new low of 37%.

'Practically Speaking, [Iraq] Has Broken Apart' [6/16/2014]
News from the Middle East, and Iraq in particular, is usually bad. Today is no different:
Fighters affiliated with an extremist Al Qaeda-inspired faction seized control Monday of another town in the northwest of Iraq, beating back pro-government forces scrambling to stop the group's advance.
Tal Afar, an ethnically diverse town of Sunni Muslims and Turkmen, was overrun by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, after heavy clashes with Iraqi army units and Turkmen tribal fighters, according to Turkey's semi-official Anatolia news agency. Pro-government activists in Tal Afar, however, asserted on social media that the fight was continuing, with heavy airstrikes against the militants' positions.
Eli Lake:
American presidents and Iraqi strongmen have been trying for decades to keep the country intact. But that effort is now failing under pressure from the Islamic extremists who are taking over more and more of Iraq's cities. "Practically speaking, the country has broken apart," a top official in Iraq's Kurdistan Regional Government told The Daily Beast.
On the Sunday shows, Washington politicians aren't downplaying the danger:
The bloodthirsty Islamist group hellbent on overthrowing the Iraqi government claims to have massacred 1,700 soldiers and posted a series of gory pictures of executed captives that kicked off a chain reaction of fear from Baghdad to the Beltway.
1602
And in further evidence of the deteriorating security situation in Iraq, terrorists killed more than 20 people with four bombs on Sunday in Baghdad, and the State Department moved to protect the U.S. Embassy and its employees.
"This is as dangerous as it gets," House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Mike Rogers said on "Fox News Sunday." He was one of several GOP lawmakers who called on the Obama administration to act aggressively against the Sunni militants who call themselves the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, another Iraq War proponent, echoed Rogers with a dire caution of his own.
"Iraq and Syria combined are going to be the staging area for the next 9/11 if we don't do anything about it," the South Carolina Republican said on CNN's "State of the Union." "If Baghdad falls . . . a disaster awaits us of monumental proportions."
Thomas Friedman is sounding . . . almost isolationist, or at least noninterventionist:
Hence my rule: The Middle East only puts a smile on your face when it starts with them -- when they take ownership of reconciliation. Please spare me another dose of: It is all about whom we train and arm. Sunnis and Shiites don't need guns from us. They need the truth. It is the early 21st century, and too many of them are still fighting over who is the rightful heir to the Prophet Muhammad from the 7th century. It has to stop -- for them, and for their kids, to have any future.
There are a lot of people who don't know what to do now, so they'll spend a lot of energy arguing about what should have been done in March 2003.
This Will Complicate Hillary's 'War on Women' Narrative, Won't It?
Alana Goodman, with one of your must-read items of the day:
Newly discovered audio recordings of Hillary Clinton from the early 1980s include the former first lady's frank and detailed assessment of the most significant criminal case of her legal career: defending a man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.
In 1975, the same year she married Bill, Hillary Clinton agreed to serve as the court-appointed attorney for Thomas Alfred Taylor, a 41-year-old accused of raping the child after luring her into a car.
The recordings, which date from 1983-1987 and have never before been reported, include Clinton's suggestion that she knew Taylor was guilty at the time. She says she used a legal technicality to plead her 1603
client, who faced 30 years to life in prison, down to a lesser charge. The recording and transcript, along with court documents pertaining to the case, are embedded below.
If asked about it -- and I'll bet a doughnut right now that the Clinton machine is working the phones, claiming vast right-wing conspiracy, insisting that this is a long-ago non- story that "Hillary's enemies" are trying to bring back into the media bloodstream -- it will be a fascinating no-win situation for Hillary.
If asked, Hillary will presumably attempt to revert to "everyone is entitled to the best legal defense/legal ethics," spin and try to keep it there, try to make it a boring story of two legal professors arguing abstract principles. The more interesting question will be whether anyone asks how she feels about the ethics of attacking the credibility of a 12- year-old rape victim -- particularly when she believes her client committed the crime. It could change the race if this blows up big enough. If Hillary says, "yes, I regret it," she's admitting to an unpardonable sin in the eyes of the feminists, the Left, and honestly, a lot of Americans.
But if she says, "no, I didn't do anything wrong, I did what every good lawyer would do" she looks callous and harsh and ruthless, confirming all of the old 1990s stereotypes.
Irony of Ironies: President Obama Sends U.S. Troops to Iraq
It's hard to disagree with the decision to move troops to protect our people in country. It's also hard to stifle a chuckle that the man whose entire rise in national politics was driven by the insistence that we had to get all U.S. troops out of Iraq, and that the fate of that country was no longer America's concern, now finds himself sending more troops into that country and realizing that control of Iraq is indeed very much an American concern.
As Islamic militants continue their murderous advance in Iraq, the Pentagon is moving more firepower and manpower into the region to prepare for whatever U.S. President Barack Obama orders.
Already at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, dozens of Marines and Army troops have moved in to beef up security.
The aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush and five other warships are now in the Persian Gulf. More than 500 Marines and dozens of helicopters are on standby.
A top priority: evacuate all Americans at the embassy if it comes to that.
It's nice to see the Obama administration taking the security of American diplomats in an unstable, dangerous Muslim country seriously for a change, isn't it?
1604
Of course, we may see more than just embassy protection: "On Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry, in an interview with Yahoo! News, acknowledged that airstrikes on Iraqi targets are under consideration."
To quote William Shatner in Airplane 2, "Irony can be pretty ironic sometimes." *+
In the military community, there's some skepticism that the several thousand guys of ISIS will be able to conquer Baghdad. Maybe it's time for those guys to get bogged down in the nightmare of urban fighting.
But they are getting close:
Iraqi government forces are engaged in heavy clashes with Sunni insurgents who have made major advances in the past week.
Reports say parts of the city of Baquba just 60km (37 miles) from Baghdad -- were briefly taken over by the rebels.
Of course, sectarian killing may arrive in Baghdad before ISIS does:
The first recent sign of sectarian killing appeared in Baghdad late Monday when police found the bodies of four young Sunni men shot to death and left on a street in a mainly Shiite area of eastern Baghdad.
They were between 25 and 30 years old and had been shot numerous times, according to a police source in the Interior Ministry.
Iraq's largest oil refinery is now shut down.
The Echo Chamber Effect, Hobbling Obama as Much as the Right [6/17/2014]
Conservatives sometimes lament that we can become our own echo chamber, convinced that we're reaching a larger audience than we really are, unable to relate to or persuade those who don't already agree with us. It's a fair criticism. We need to address it.
But the same phenomenon does occur on the other side, and arguably with more severe consequences. Here's the president, speaking at UC Irvine this weekend, discussing his climate-change and carbon-emission proposal:
It's pretty rare that you'll encounter somebody who says the problem you're trying to solve simply doesn't exist. When President Kennedy set us on a course for the moon, there were a number of people who made a serious case that it wouldn't be worth it; it was going to be too expensive, it was going to be too hard, it would take too long. But nobody ignored the science. I don't remember anybody saying that the moon wasn't there or that it was made of cheese.
1605
President Obama is really, really, really bothered by the fact that some Americans don't believe that human activity can significantly impact the climate. To him, this is something to fume about in public. It's a top priority to him even if climate change ranks near the bottom of the electorate's priorities.
Here's a Tweet from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Monday morning:
The link is to an e-mail signup list for a U.S. State Department conference on oceans.
An audit of the Department of Veterans Affairs found that "more than 57,000 patients have been waiting more than three months for medical appointments at hospitals and clinics run by the VA, and nearly 64,000 others have been enrolled in the system for a decade but have still not been seen by doctors despite their requests," and Monday brought new revelations of "dozens" of allegations of punishing whistleblowers who balked at falsifying records. One can reasonably argue that VA staffers ought to pay more attention to their actual jobs than climate change issues.
The U.S. State Department is currently evacuating nonessential personnel from Iraq, and by the time you read this, we may be evacuating essential personnel, too. They, too, may have more pressing concerns than promoting a conference on oceans.
But the Obama administration has set its agenda for 2014, and it's not going to let little things like world events get in the way. Obama intends upon running upon climate change, the minimum wage, the need for "common sense" gun control, and workplace equality.
He'll campaign upon the need for "comprehensive immigration reform," complete with a "path to citizenship," even though we're facing a humanitarian crisis on the border from a sudden influx of unattended children an entirely predictable response to a policy change that provides a path to U.S. citizenship to children who enter the country illegally.
And he'll spend the summer on his traditional golf and fundraising schedule.
If you ask a conservative what issues are on his mind, you might get a list that included the administration's shameless dishonesty about the Benghazi terror attack, the national shame that is the VA scandal, and the sense that crises from Ukraine to Syria to 1606
Iraq to the South Pacific are spinning out of control. The border is unsecured. Obamacare is a mess, forcing people to buy coverage they don't want, paying higher premiums than they expected, forced into narrow networks where they can't keep the doctor they like. We're letting the worst of the worst out of Guantanamo Bay for one imprisoned American.
You and I know those are legitimate concerns, but a lot of Americans don't think about those topics much. If you asked those folks either in the middle or tuned out what worries them, and what they wish lawmakers would address, you would probably get a much simpler list.
People are having trouble finding jobs. The jobs don't pay particularly well. It's tough to find a good job with manageable hours and decent benefits. There's no guarantee that your local public school will educate your kids particularly well. If your kids do make the grades they need to get into college, most schools are way too expensive. You can take out student loans, but you'll spend half your life paying them back, and a college degree is no longer a guarantee of a well-paying job. Are young people able to start their lives, start their careers, get married, start families of their own? How long can young adults last in a perpetual adolescence? With all of these financial pressures coming at people from all directions, retirement seems like a more faraway goal.
It feels like a covenant with Americans, set a generation or two ago, is broken. Perhaps this is what Salena Zito is getting at when she describes the populist storm building in America's heartland:
It is a cautionary thread yet most people in Washington do not understand this moderate-in-tone populist wave. First, the wave is not going to take out every incumbent, so no "secret sauce" can "fix" it; second, it will have broad impact on both parties; third, it is relatively invisible because it has no name, no brand or party allegiance.
The problem is that while it's easy to articulate what feels wrong about modern American life, it's hard to put together a set of policy proposals that have a decent shot at fixing it. Ultimately, a lot of us would like to live in the America of the 1980s again -- a booming economy capable of creating 500,000 new jobs in a month, a military buildup with no actual shooting wars going on, and Bill Cosby on our television screens.
It's frustrating that the country's middle or apolitical chunk of the electorate doesn't share the concerns and priorities of the conservative grassroots. But they also don't share the concerns and priorities of the progressive grassroots, either. President Obama is going to spend the next few months trying to get a country, beset by crisis after crisis, mess after mess, to ignore what's worrying them and adopt the priorities of the Left.

[The Collapsing Obama Doctrine, by Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney] 1609
Too many times to count, Mr. Obama has told us he is 'ending' the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan-as though wishing made it so. His rhetoric has now come crashing into reality. ... In the face of this threat, Mr. Obama is busy ushering America's adversaries into positions of power in the Middle East. First it was the Russians in Syria. Now, in a move that defies credulity, he toys with the idea of ushering Iran into Iraq. Only a fool would believe American policy in Iraq should be ceded to Iran, the world's largest state sponsor of terror. ... [T]he speed of the terrorists' takeover of territory in Iraq has been matched only by the speed of American decline on his watch. *Morning Jolt, by NROs Jim Geraghty *6/18/2014+ Come to Think of It, We Haven't Seen a Good Poll for Obama in a Long Time You know how it seems like bad news never sticks to President Obama? Well, maybe it does after a while. He's at his worst numbers ever in Reuters. Gallup has Obama's job approval at 41 percent. The Economist/YouGov survey has him at 41 percent. Bloomberg has him at 43 percent, and significantly lower on most issues. CNN has him at 43 percent, with 55 percent disapproving. These are some pretty crappy poll numbers, and it's been a long while since Obama's seen any consistently good numbers. Andrew Kohut: Since the Affordable Care Act was passed nearly four years ago, a plurality of Americans have disapproved of it. Since the onset of the Great Recession six years ago, more than 80% of Americans have rated economic conditions as only fair or poor. And since winning a second term, Barack Obama's approval score has mostly been in the mid-40s or lower. One or more of these attitudes will have to move in a clearly positive direction for the Democratic Party to avoid a drubbing in the congressional elections, according to a new analysis of voter opinion. So far the indications for that are not so good. Recent months have shown signs of economic progress and indications that the Affordable Care Act has begun to achieve its goals. But there is little indication that the unemployment rate's falling to 6.3%, the Dow Jones average soaring to a new high and the ACA signing up 8 million people, (including many young people,) had any effect on attitudes about these two key issues. Vice President Cheney: Oh, By the Way, President Obama, I Told You So. Hey, remember Vice President Dick Cheney? He and daughter Liz pop up on the Wall Street Journal's opinion page to remind President Obama that he's turned out to be wrong about . . . well, just about everything: Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many. Too many times to count, Mr. Obama has told us he is "ending" the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as though wishing 1610
made it so. His rhetoric has now come crashing into reality. Watching the black-clad ISIS jihadists take territory once secured by American blood is final proof, if any were needed, that America's enemies are not "decimated." They are emboldened and on the march. The fall of the Iraqi cities of Fallujah, Tikrit, Mosul and Tel Afar, and the establishment of terrorist safe havens across a large swath of the Arab world, present a strategic threat to the security of the United States. Mr. Obama's actions before and after ISIS's recent advances in Iraq have the effect of increasing that threat. They conclude: "In 1983, President Ronald Reagan said, 'If history teaches anything, it teaches that simple-minded appeasement or wishful thinking about our adversaries is folly. It means the betrayal of our past, the squandering of our freedom.' President Obama is on track to securing his legacy as the man who betrayed our past and squandered our freedom." And now an update on some of those news stories that have faded from the front pages . . . Terrific: VA Routinely Fails to Respond to Reporter Inquiries Hey, remember the VA scandal? There's a new aspect: Because the Department of Veterans Affairs is a taxpayer funded organization, it has a responsibility to fully explain itself to the press and the public. Unfortunately, in many cases VA is failing in this responsibility, as department officials including 54 full-time public affairs employees routinely ignore media inquiries. VA Honesty Project documents nearly 70 recent instances in which VA has failed to respond to reporters' requests for information or refused to answer specific questions. The department's apparent disregard for the press has become an object of reporters' scorn, leading some to openly accuse VA of "thumbing their nose at us" and others to write entire articles focusing on VA's stonewalling tactics. Nobody but the best working over at the VA, I tell you! An official at a New York Veterans Affairs facility was arrested Monday for allegedly taking tens of thousands of dollars in improper gifts from a telecommunications firm doing business with the center. The arrest was announced by the office of U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. I'll bet you did not expect this figure to call for the VA to be shut down entirely: A visibly emotional and heated Montel Williams slammed the Veterans Affairs health care system and the handling of the scandal surrounding the agency, saying it needs to be shut down. "It's too big and we've created a structure where again, if you can't fire somebody, we've got a problem, and we've got a bigger problem when a group of people can vote themselves a bonus just for keeping track of 1611
numbers that they lie about," Williams said Monday on Fox News' Your World with Neil Cavuto. Does the U.S. Still Know Where the Taliban Five Are? Hillary Clinton, last night: "In Qatar with an agreement that has been entered into, they are supposed to be constrained from what they can do, and certainly they are not supposed to be permitted to travel," Clinton explained. "In that situation, they are not a threat." "Those five men, they are, right now, not a danger if they are kept where they are supposed to be kept, but we still have to worry about the Taliban and everything they could be doing," she added. Yeah, about those five Taliban guys we released . . . here's the Daily Beast's Josh Rogin in Doha, Qatar, who went looking for them: The bottom line is that the Taliban Five aren't likely to be found until or unless they want to be found. The U.S. is going to have to accept the fact that they simply aren't under our supervision anymore. That's the deal we made and they are holding us to it. And of course: "'Zero Dark Thirty' and 'Hurt Locker' director, Kathryn Bigelow, is reportedly taking on the Bowe Bergdahl story for her next film." Hey, Remember That Fight Between Ukraine and Russia? You may have thought that because of the lack of front-page news about Ukraine and Russia, things had calmed down over there. Nope. A major natural gas pipeline exploded in central Ukraine on Tuesday, a day after the Russian energy behemoth Gazprom said that it was cutting off supplies to Ukraine in a dispute over pricing, and officials immediately labeled it a possible act of sabotage . . . The blast occurred in a sparsely populated area of the Poltava region, which lies between Kiev, the capital, and the embattled regions of eastern Ukraine where a civil war is effectively underway between pro- Russian separatists and the Ukrainian military. Video from the scene showed a huge plume of fire shooting hundreds of feet into the sky. Fighting continued Tuesday in eastern Ukraine, including mortar fire near the city of Luhansk that killed a Russian television journalist, Igor Kornelyuk, and a sound engineer, Anton Voloshin, who were working for the state-controlled Rossiya channel. ADDENDA: Phil Kerpen: "A dog ate all the IRS emails. Then Obama ate the dog."
The goal, here, is to provide info not otherwise available, and to reformulate what is [tragically] available regarding BHOs follies; themes identical to those already detailed are again corroborated, allowing for use of self-explanatory topic-headings, admixing prose of explanations with poetryof hyperlinks. Also, the recent encounter with Dinesh J. DSouza triggered probing into what can be done to stop BHO, taking into account both the message in his upcoming movie and elaborations thereupon in his book; thus, on the one hand, the compulsion to provide updates of settled topics has waned, while those that still require efforts to pound-home key-conclusions are emphasized [emphasizing the GOPs need to fuse Conservatism and Libertarianism without becoming either doctrinaire or libertine]. {Know that the Ex-Bergdahl Roommate said White House Knew He Was a Traitor Before Swap.}
Meanwhile, vigilance against subtle/overt anti-Semitism [sometimes masked as anti- Zionism] must be maintained internationally [Anti-semitism source of laughter in France as Jews flee], nationally [GE-Sponsored Site (Vox, edited by Ezra Klein) Lent Platform to Notorious Anti-Semite], and locally; recent Holocaust-related events have dramatized the importance of continued activism in this realm [referring both to the efforts to prompt Temple U. to fess-up to its employment of a Holocaust-denier, and arrest of an Ex-Nazi guard without bail in NE-Philly for alleged Nazi war crimes @ Auschwitz].
In follow-up of passage of the Holocaust-Educational Mandate, I amplified upon the iteration that was published in the Exponent, so that a clear record can be preserved for posterity AND to facilitate future efforts of a comparable nature.
It will be easier for the reader to appreciate the evolution of events if the prior comments are read in reverse-order.
Know that, although others assisted in this yeomans effort, only the three-of-us were closely identified with pushing for the Mandate; as is detailed below, Chuck Feldman was the informed source from the journalistic perspective and Rhonda Fink-Whitman was always available to provide color-commentary. I functioned as the chronicler and the nudge of key-people within the GOP, noting that [currently] the Republicans control the legislature and the executive-branch.
That we achieved a delayed-Mandate perhaps yielded grudging recognition that our persistence had yielded a bill that was superior to that which Federation had initially conjured.
PLEASE NOTE this disclaimer: All opinions and observations recorded herein [including those on the hyperlinked pages that I had also authored] are not necessarily shared either by Chuck or by Rhonda.

This set of postings provides unique-info as to how the "sausage" of this legislation was initiated [Chuck Feldman chatted with Brendon Boyle two years ago], nurtured [Rhonda Fink-Whitman created a video one year ago], and driven-home [I worked assiduously with Republicans, as the former-two individuals maintained internal pressures elsewhere, starting six months ago].
Early-on, I formulated a working-hypothesis [modify statute by tweaking a few phrases, @ the very least, lest lawmakers feel threatened by worriment about unintended consequences+ and IDed those who appeared to be players; it then was easier to monitor behavior, and to appreciate the presumed strategies of the opposition. We were then prepared to pounce when incremental opportunities arose, as we sought common ground without compromising on the core-concern: the Mandate.
*
Know that we feel that these concerns have tremendous contemporary implications. Not only are genocidal efforts occurring internationally *such as the Islamists decimation of Christians, let alone their designs on Jews], but we are experiencing repercussions locally [as an Auschwitz guard living in NE-Philly is being extradited to Germany and as a Holocaust-denier continues to serve as an adjunct professor at Temple University].
Remember, we fought assiduously for a UNIT to be taught *Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Violations+, so that we anticipate the curriculum will encompass others [such as Armenians] who have suffered, particularly during the past year. Students must learn how to be vigilant as they process world-events throughout their lifetimes, and history must be permitted to come-alive in the process.
*
I am unapologetic if, in the process of pushing for this delayed-Mandate, collateral- damage ensued. For example, Erics article *supra+ had to be composed thrice before it approximated what had happened and, even now, he incompletely quoted Chuck as having said that the museum would have preferred an amendment proposed by another senator that included an upfront requirement for schools. The Dinniman Amendment would have applied to ALL schools, would have been implemented annually at ALL [age-sensitive] grade levels, and would have included a MINIMUM of 12- hours of focused-instruction prior to formal recognition of the Holocaust during April. We had aggressively advocated for this interim deal, but Eric gave it short-shrift, for whatever reason[s]. This was particularly annoying because, just last Thursday, I thought he had gained an appreciation [delivered rather forcefully by moi, eyeball-to-eyeball] for the need to read primary-sources rather than to publish, perhaps, what others @ Federation had characterized them to have been.
Regarding the process of IDing knowingly-problematic individuals, I am also unapologetic with regard to having outed two Harrisburg staffers who ran- interference for Hank Butler. David Transue composed a FALSE staff-memo [claiming what we wanted had already been covered in a cursory fashion in existing statute+ 1614
and Steve Miskin FALSELY claimed we had harassed him for opposing us. Indeed, in the former case, I parsed the statute and proved he had promulgated a LIE and, in the latter case, I explained to Eric that no one knew of his having defended Transue except for myself and my two colleagues [and none of us had any contact with him after we had discovered his cover-up]. I must confess amazement at the lack of journalistic-curiosity evinced by Eric when I asked if he had been told ANY of the particulars regarding the alleged-threats that one of us had allegedly issued.
*
An example of the importance of generating a clear record of what transpired is the need to note that the lobbyist for the PA Jewish Federation *aligned with Phillys+ kept "predicting" that a mandate wouldn't pass the House, and we were unable to discern the foundation for that claim that was consistently emanating from an experienced Harrisburg denizen; indeed, this was but one facet of the deceit disseminated by Hank Butler throughout this process [in-writing and orally], a concern that was amplified as ongoing discovery of his antics emerged.
*
Although some people are less concerned with ensuring an accurate record had been generated than am I, those who wish to adopt an "activist" perspective when other such issues arise will perhaps gain insights as to the need to ID their political-opponents [in this case, surprisingly and sadly, Federation] and then to reformulate strategies as one plays Whack-a-Mole against flying-rationalizations. Throughout, it is necessary to have command of the facts [and to have the ability to document assertions]; while "tracking" purported supporters [as they report what others are saying], it is mandatory that credibility be maintained.
BHOs vindictive reaction to the prognosis that Amnesty wont be passed by the House has exploded; those suspected as having aided/abetted this invasion of the Illegals have exposed-themselves. First, consider the gravity of the current situation:
Pelosi: Boehner Using Word Alien to Describe Illegals is 'Reprehensible' [this recalls the critique of a friend who shared this concern, notwithstanding the facts] JEH JEH GOES TO TEXAS In the midst of the Obama administration transporting around 1,000 unaccompanied minors from Border Patrol centers in Texas to facilities in Baltimore, MD, and Richmond, VA, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced in a press release on Wednesday that a Federal Grand Jury returned a second superseding indictment charging four Maryland men in connection with a conspiracy to participate in murder in aid of a racketeering enterprise known as the La Mara Salvatrucha or MS-13. Then note observations and behaviors of key-figures:
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Jeh Johnson to secure the border and put an end to the "humanitarian crisis." Cruzs letter to Johnson comes less than twenty-four hours after the top three Texas lawmakers sent a letter to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director, Colonel Steve McCraw. The letter directed McCraw to conduct an immediate surge of Texas law enforcement resources along the border. The outcry over the crisis has continued to build since Breitbart Texas Managing Director Brandon Darby released over 40 leaked 1616

Statewide, the legislature continued to grapple with chronic issues that are coming-to-a-head [Bob Dick feels the PA Legislature should fix fiscal woes, not raise taxes; STATE ALCOHOL SALE REFORM CAUGHT IN 'MEXICAN STANDOFF' and PA pension bill could get a vote next week, but it sidesteps funding issues] and that are of-interest [Senate panel passes bill to broaden PA Right to Know law], while corruption appeared to persist [STATE PA GOP COMMITTEE MEMBER NOTARIZED OWN PETITIONS, NO CHARGES PENDING], and social-controversy persisted [Judge rejected Schuylkill official's bid to challenge same-sex 1617

Regarding the gubernatorial-race, note a quote by Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards in 1983 ["The only way I can lose this election is if I'm caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy"] suggests limited ability of Corbett to turn prison success into political capital [seemingly obscure] but greater capacity to invoke fact that PA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AT 5-YEAR LOW OF 5.6% and PRIVATE JOBS AT RECORD HIGH, and its unclear why CORBETT (unopposed) RAISED $1.4M and SPENT $3M during the weeks surrounding Pennsylvania's May PRIMARY, pushing his total expenditures to more than $11 million after having spent money twice as fast as it came in and leaving him with $4.8 million in the bank [against Guzzardi?]. Also, Wolf's campaign coffers show the strain of his four- way primary battle; he poured $10 million into his winning campaign and leads Corbett in the polls; he raised $3.5 million over the five weeks that ended June 9, while his cash- on-hand hovers around $3 million. Know that AG Kane will release Sandusky review report Monday.
Regionally, the PHILLY DA said GRAND JURY is REVIVING STING PROBE which is to take 'MONTHS' NOT YEARS; also, Philly Council relaxed punishment for pot and Dad, daughter arrested at city graduation [both were disorderly, and she had pot]; this is a national trend [noting establishment of a delivery service for medical marijuana]. Although Rape charges were dropped vs ex-GOP chair Kerns, others werent; despite massive Christie-aid, the revel-casino-warned-it-will-shutter-without-buyer.
It is desirable to note the impact of the REDSKINS CONTROVERSY, both nationally [DOES TRADEMARK LAW VIOLATE FIRST AMENDMENT? and U.S. patent office cancels Redskins trademark registration] and locally [Neshaminy administrators confiscate newspapers printed by student editors without principal's OK, noting that plus Seattle Times Sports Page Censors 'Redskins' Name]; in my view, the politicization of the federal government was manifest by the former *squeezing the team, fiscally+ and the P.C. compulsion was manifest by the latter [compelling kids to self-censor]. Thus, there was no justification to strip the team of its trademark-status, and confiscation of some newspapers [by school administrators] served only to heighten the intrigue [creating forbidden fruit+. Thus, specifically, regarding the latter, this issue doesnt rise to the level whereby the school must monitor the newspapers contents *everyone has the right to be stupid+. ,Also, KEVIN HART TO DON LEMON: 'DON'T COMPARE REDSKINS TO THE N-WORD'.}

And, illustrating the limits to gun-control, CRIMINALS PREFER HANDGUNS OVER 'ASSAULT RIFLES' and Florida police have made an arrest after video of a vicious robbery was released showing a man enter a store, assault a pregnant female clerk and steal cash from the register; also, in surprise vote, House voted 293-123 to limit NSA spying by conducting warrantless searches. {Note that Thousands of California Primary Mail-In Ballots Invalidated and that the Pa. In Texas Gubernatorial politics, Abbott disclaimed support for Common Core while Wendy Davis Raked-in Cash from Liberal States as Texans Reject Her; note that ABBOTT'S FIRST TV AD AGAINST WENDY DAVIS AIRED DURING WORLD CUP, IN SPANISH.
The Media have been bipartisan in-turmoil, even as FAITH IN MEDIA HIT A RECORD LOW. Among libs, TODD TURNED [saying OBAMA is 'OVER' [despite his ongoing potency, a view articulated by Rush with which I (sadly must) concur], but others @ NBC continued to support him [MSNBC'S ALTER: PRESIDENT'S CRITICS SHOULD 'PUT A SOCK IN IT'; ED SCHULTZ: OBAMA MADE THE RIGHT CALL IN LIBYA SYRIA, EGYPT, IRAQ; and NBCNEWS Brian Williams 'rankled by audience slide'] and CNN slid [CNN ADVERTISERS DEMAND LOWER PRICES AS RATINGS FALL]. Among conservatives, Bill O'Reilly Dissed Rush Limbaugh ['I'm a Fact-Based Guy'] before a group of New York City libs, and Megyn Kelly rips into Cheney about WMD, claiming 'HISTORY HAS PROVEN THAT YOU GOT IT WRONG AS WELL IN IRAQ, SIR' [an argument he appropriately buried]. {Also, in LATE-NIGHT WARS: FALLON VS COLBERT VS... The POTUS-16 competition continued among Dems. 'STOP THIS!': ELIZABETH WARREN SCOLDED CHRIS MATTHEWS FOR TOUGH QUESTIONS and, following Marin Cogans profile of Brian Schweitzer (which resulted in his later having to apologize for some of his comments), NBC News Chuck Todd bashed the former Montana governor on his MSNBC show, The Daily Rundown. [Theres sort of a buffoonery to him, Todd said at one point only to later add: I should mention he is a paid MSNBC contributor.]. Also, Dianne Feinstein said keep Brian Schweitzer away from my husband.
Hillary continued her book-tour [Hillary Interview Ratings Underwhelm on CNN and Fox; Steelers great Terry Bradshaw no fan of Hillary Clinton; Victim: Clinton 'took me through hell'; Deadline.com gives Hillary thumbs-up for gaffe-free interviews; and a reporter claimed an editor buried story on Hillary defending child rapist because 'It Might Have an Impact'] while it found that NBC paid Chelsea Clinton big bucks to not appear on-air.

Thexd pitches by the Senate Conservative Fund were amplified by relevant hyperlinks.
The Republican establishment in Washington is trying to crush conservative Chris McDaniel in Mississippi; Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is going to the state this weekend to stump for Thad Cochran (R-MS). The grassroots are fighting back, believing it's time for a change; McDaniel has been leading in recent polls, but he's getting massively outspent and Cochran is trying to get Dems to cross-over and hijack the election. Regarding the effort to Mandate Holocaust Education in PA, I added two more comments:
It is also important to recognize that Rhonda has drawn from our experience [and her unique contributions after her video went viral] during speaking in other states; we hope that PA will provide a model for others who may grapple with comparable resistance.
Illustrating the intensity of our efforts [with Chuck having inspired the event and my having engaged in grunt-work, vide infra] were the labors of Rhonda: her work on this bill BEGAN with a viral video and continued EVERY DAY for a year in one respect or another, be it speaking to public audiences, getting national, international, and local media attention, building awareness via social media, contacting legislators, behind the scenes negotiations, traveling to Harrisburg, rallying the troops via phone and email, creating more videos, and being the public punching bag for the opposition and the Jewish rags in the state, or as Chuck called it, "Taking one for the team." Not a day passed since last June that I didn't do SOMETHING to further the cause of this bill. Is it not a shame that her [our] major adversary was the Federation...until it finally relented?

Regarding the rise to leadership of McCarthy and Scalise, Politico feels that none of this actually matters and that their election doesnt represent seismic change atop the House Republican majority; entry of the latter individual surely provides an opening for the philosophies of true-conservatives, as advanced via the TEA Party Movement. Earlier, Politico had reported that some question his conservatism by citing three obscure concerns [His detractors grumble that he voted for supporting flood insurance, that he has ties to leadership and that he backed the controversial firing of a top RSC aide. ]. {Anything to try to muddy the water.}

ADL Release Also Ignores Anti-Israel Lies
ZOA is Shocked, Mystified That ADL/Foxman Wrongly States Klinghoffer Opera is Not Anti-Semitic
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is shocked and mystified that the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) wrongly stated this week (in ADLs June 17 press release) that the Death of Klinghoffer opera is not anti-Semitic. (Shamefully, the NYC Metropolitan Opera is still planning 8 live performances of this anti-Semitic opera this fall.) ADL ignores the operas egregious anti-Israel lies, defamation of all Jews, and glorification and legitimization of terrorist murderers of Jewish people.
ADLs statement contradicts the Klinghoffer daughters statement that the opera is anti-Semitic. Leon Klinghoffer's daughters Lisa and Ilsa Klinghoffer protested this opera from the outset, as follows:
We are outraged at the exploitation of our parents and the coldblooded murder of our father as the centerpiece of a production that appears to us to be anti-Semitic.
The New York Daily News editorial yesterday (June 18) noted that Death of Klinghoffer has been reviled as anti-Semitic and horribly sympathetic to the killers.
ADLs statement harms the continuing efforts to stop the Met from performing this anti-Semitic opera.
ZOA President Mort Klein stated:
Death of Klinghoffer includes libels that Jews get fat from the poor, cheat, exploit, pollute virgins, defame, break laws, and are idolators - and portrays terrorists who murder Jews as men of ideals. The opera also includes outrageous lies about Jewish Israelis treatment of Arabs. If ADL President Abe Foxman doesnt think that all this is anti-Semitism, then what is?
1626
ADLs inaccurate statement interferes with and harms the continuing efforts by ZOA and other organizations and dedicated individuals to stop the Metropolitan Operas still- scheduled 8 live performances of this anti-Semitic opera in New York this fall.
Death of Klinghoffer is undeniably anti-Semitic. Here is a sampling of the evidence, which includes both the maligning of Jews in general and anti-Israel lies against Israels Jews:
1. Arab murderers of Jews are portrayed as idealists. A Palestinian Arab terrorist/murderer sings: We are soldiers fighting a war; we are not criminals; we are not vandals; we are men of ideals.
2. Jews are defamed, using the worst type of anti-Semitic stereotypes. A hijacker sings: Wherever poor men Are gathered they can Find Jews getting fat You know how to cheat The simple, exploit The virgin, pollute Where you have exploited Defame those you cheated And break your own law With idolatry.
3. Jews are portrayed as speaking about trivial material concerns, while the Arab terrorists are romantically (and falsely) portrayed as avenging past violent persecution of Arabs by Israeli Jews.
4. The opera falsely portrays Israeli Jews as destroying Arab homes and chasing Arabs from their homes in Israel in 1948. The opera begins with a little Arab girl watching Jews shooting at, beating and chasing Arab women and children from their homes, while a Palestinian-Arab chorus sings: My fathers house was razed, in 1948, When the Israelis passed over the street. . . Israel laid all to waste. One of the terrorists claims that his mother was driven away by an Israeli raid.
In fact, Israel begged the Arabs to stay and live peacefully together in Israel in 1948. The Arab High Committee and seven invading Arab nations urged Arabs to leave to make it easier for the seven Arab countries which invaded the fledgling Jewish nation in 1948 to destroy Israel and murder Israels Jewish inhabitants. See ZOAs detailed prior press release which quoted: the British report that the Mayor of Haifa begged the Arabs to stay; Arab leaders urging Arabs to leave so that the Jews could be killed more readily; and other contemporaneous sources confirming this.
Moreover, again in 1967, Israeli leaders including Moshe Dayan sent soldiers to stop and reassure the tens of thousands of Arabs who were voluntarily running from Judea and Samaria across the Allenby Bridge to Jordan, in the wake of the Six Day war. The Israeli soldiers urged the Arabs to go back to their homes and reassured the Arabs that Israel would not hurt them.
5. The opera uses the peculiar phrase when the Israelis passed over the street to describe the invented Israeli destruction of Arab homes in 1948, apparently in order to bring to mind the Passover story, when the Angel of Death passed over houses, killing Egyptian families first-born sons. Israelis are thus likened to the Angel of Death.
1627
6. The opera also leaves the false and defamatory impression that Jews murdered hundreds of Muslims in Sabra and Shatila by having a Palestinian terrorist sing that his brother was decapitated in Sabra & Shatila, as one of several justifications for Palestinian terrorists murdering Leon Klinghoffer. An Arab Palestinian terrorist sings, as part of his justification for murdering the innocent disabled Jewish-American: She *my mother] was killed with the old men and children in Camps at Sabra and Shatila where Almighty God in His mercy showed my decapitated brother to me/ And in His mercy allowed me to close my brothers eyes and wipe his face.
In fact, the Sabra and Shatila massacre in Lebanon was committed by Christian Phalangists, after Muslim terrorists assassinated Lebanons Christian president and Muslims had been massacring Christians.
7. The opera lies about (grossly exaggerates) the number of Arab Palestinian refugees. The operas claim of 3.8 million refugees in 1985 is 10 times the actual number of Palestinian refugees, most accurately estimated at approximately 367,000. See ZOAs prior release discussing this. The wildly exaggerated numbers have been repeatedly used to defame Israel.
8. The opera also conveniently omits any mention of the almost one million Jewish refugees who were forced to flee from Arab countries by real Muslim persecution and pogroms against these centuries-old Jewish communities.
9. The opera repeatedly invokes the falsehood that Israel was stolen from Palestinian Arabs. In addition to falsely portraying Jews driving out Arabs in 1948, a Palestinian murderer lashes out at a British passenger, and sings that the Balfour declaration took away Palestinian land to give it to Israel.
In fact, there was never an Arab country called Palestine. Jews have lived continuously in Israel throughout the millennia. Jews comprised the majority in Jerusalem since the mid-1800s. The opera ignores the thousands of years of history of Jewish presence and connection to the land of Israel. The opera also ignores the real Arab massacres of Jews living in Israel, in Hebron, Jerusalem and elsewhere, in the 1920s and 1930s, and in the Intifadas that started in the 1980s.
10. The opera portrays the modern-day blood libels that Jewish Holocaust survivors from Europe took away Palestinian land, and that Jewish Israelis became the new Nazis. The opera compares Nazi persecution of Jews to fabricated Jewish-Israeli treatment of Arab-Palestinians. To drive home this outrageous anti-Semitic propaganda, in the opera DVD, the same actor plays both a Holocaust victim tormented by Nazis, and an Israeli Jew who chases and shoots at Arab women and children.
11. The opera may have been inspired by one of the worst anti-Semitic, anti-Israel propagandists. In an interview with David Beverley, Klinghoffer composer John Adams stated: I read a great deal of Edward Saids writing.
1628
12. The opera also uses crucifixion imagery to portray Jews as sinful, and to help justify the need for innocent Jews to be killed to atone for the alleged sins of Jews who allegedly mistreated Arabs. Composer John Adams stated during his Beverley interview: Clearly his *Leon Klinghoffers+ death was a kind of crucifixion. He was crucified for the class of people that he happened to fall into. In the DVD, after he is killed and thrown overboard by the terrorists, Klinghoffers body is shown sinking in slow-motion in crucifixion-like poses.
13. The title Death of Klinghoffer in itself woefully diminishes what the Palestinian terrorists really did. The title should be the Murder of Klinghoffer.
14. As UC Professor and musicologist Richard Taruskin has written, Death of Klinghoffer utilizes soaring music to glorify the terrorists and Palestinian choruses anti-Jewish and anti-Israel pronouncements and by contrast, trivial music is used when Jews speak, to emphasize supposed Jewish materialism and triviality.
15. The opera describes the Palestinian murderers in kindly, humane terms. A female British passenger sings that Omar, one of the terrorists, is extremely nice and gave the passengers cigarettes and meat. As noted above, the Metropolitan Opera openly acknowledges that the opera looks for humanity in the terrorists.
Looking for the humanity in those who murder blacks is anti-black. Looking for the humanity in those who murder gay people is anti-gay. Looking for the humanity in those who murder Jews is anti-Semitism.
Would we look for the humanity in the 9-11 killers? Or Charlie Manson? Or the Ku Klux Klan members who lynched African-Americans?
In real life, the terrorists who murdered Leon Klinghoffer in his wheelchair were despicable and devoid of humanity. After they committed this heinous murder, the terrorists even stooped to saying that Mrs. Klinghoffer killed her husband so that she could enjoy the life insurance money! (Mrs. Klinghoffer was actually dying from terminal cancer at the time of the cruise, and died shortly afterwards.)
ZOA thus urges ADL to join ZOA and other groups in speaking out against the malicious anti-Semitism and anti-Israel lies in Death of Klinghoffer.
ADLs statement is also illogical:
ADLs press release stated:
ADL noted that while the opera itself is not anti-Semitic, there is a concern the opera could be used in foreign countries as a means to stir up anti-Israel sentiments or as a vehicle to promote anti-Semitism.
1629
ADLs statement that the opera is not anti-Semitic but could be used as a vehicle to promote anti- Semitism is illogical on its face. If an opera is a vehicle for promoting anti-Semitism, it is in fact anti- Semitic. And, as ZOA detailed above and in its press releases last week and earlier this week, the operas title, lyrics and musical language are in fact anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and anti-American.
Foreign countries are not the only place where the opera will promote anti-Semitism: ZOA is also mystified as to why ADLs statement only raises concerns that the opera could promote anti-Semitism in foreign countries. An opera that can be used to promote anti-Semitism in foreign countries, can and will also promote anti-Semitism in New York.
New Yorks Jewish communities are prime targets of anti-Semitic terrorists and criminals. The ADLs own website notes that physical attacks on Jews in Brooklyn tripled last year (2013). In 2011, police uncovered a terror plot by two Muslim jihadists to attack a Manhattan synagogue with guns and grenades. In 2009, four Muslim men were arrested in connection with a terrorist plot to shoot down military airplanes and blow up two synagogues in Riverdale, in the Bronx. Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg stated with respect to the 2011 plot to attack a Manhattan synagogue: We know that, as an international symbol of freedom and liberty, New York City is and will always be a target.
And of course, the Mets audiences include opera-lovers from all over the world, who will bring what they learn at the opera back to their home countries.
ADL should thus not be satisfied that the international broadcast of the opera has been canceled. We hope that the ADL will join with ZOA and the other individuals and organizations who are still working to stop the Met Operas plan to still have 8 live performances of Death of Klinghoffer in New York.
ADLs statement conflicts with the duty ADL undertook to fight terrorism: ZOA also urges that the ADL should join in the fight to stop all performances of Death of Klinghoffer because the ADL undertook a special obligation to fight terrorism.
The Klinghoffer children donated to the ADL the proceeds of their lawsuit against the PLO (reportedly 7 figures), and lent their name to the ADL to establish a special foundation that is supposed to fight terrorism. The ADL website notes:
"The ADL Leon and Marilyn Klinghoffer Memorial Foundation combats terrorism through educational, political and legal means. The Foundation was founded in 1986."
ADL also uses the Klinghoffer daughters and name to raise funds for combating terrorism. See http://archive.adl.org/profiles/3.html
Death of Klinghoffer performances also need to be protested and stopped because the opera promotes the concept that terrorism against innocent civilians is justified. As prominent University of California Musicologist Richard Taruskin, an expert in 20th Century music and nationalism, wrote in a detailed New York Times article praising the Boston Symphony for canceling performances of "Death of Klinghoffer," "Death of Klinghoffer" "romanticizes the perpetrators of deadly violence toward the innocent."
Likewise, the Metropolitan Operas own form letter to those complaining about this opera openly and brazenly states that this opera looks for humanity in the terrorists. 1630
Romanticizing terrorists, looking for the humanity in terrorists, and seeking to justify terrorists heinous acts are counter-productive to efforts to fight terrorism. Professor Taruskin aptly noted that the only way to defeat terrorism is to focus resolutely on the acts rather than their claimed (or conjectured) motivations, and to characterize all such acts, whatever their motivation, as crimes.
ZOA and others are continuing our work to stop Death of Klinghoffer: ZOA was privileged to be a large part of the effort to stop the international broadcasts of Death of Klinghoffer. ZOA spoke with AMC Theaters (which then immediately conferred with Met officials, and then called ZOA back to advise of the decision to cancel the broadcast), publicized the operas malicious falsehoods, and contacted major Met donors and their friends and numerous other individuals, whom all assisted with this important effort.
ZOA and other groups and dedicated individuals are continuing to work hard to stop the 8 live performances in New York, which have not yet been canceled.
We again urge the ADL to join with ZOAs and others continuing efforts to stop the Mets 8 live performances of Death of Klinghoffer this fall.
*** Regarding the movie-preview of Dinesh J. DSouza *America+, it is instructive to note that the parallel- book is Mysteriously Absent From the New York Times Bestseller List. When he signed my copy of the book, I acquired his e-mail address and just sent him the following [excerpted]:
I discussed your views with a lib-friend, and want to share reactions to your Wikipedia entryas we search for the most effective way to help the great-unwashed see-the- light! Articulated concerns:
General integration of religion Into politics; fairly directly blaming liberals for 9/11 (with which you might agree); attitudes about feminism which I believe reflect an outdated reflection of current views (and even past positions, with some caveats); comments reflecting that our culture is inherently better (while I see radical Islamists as a troubling "culture," there are plenty of peoples around the globe who have rich and meaningful cultures, even though they differ from our own -this is not to denigrate ours - just fail to see that we should put it on a pedestal above all others from the standpoint of culture - I disagree that our culture should be adopted by all - this is very different from a discussion about the functioning of governments).
My initial reactions:
I recognize there are some [particularly in the GOP] who inform their views on faith, but they can be kept in-check; he is rejecting the heightened feminism that perhaps over-elevates; American Exceptionalism mandates recognition of 1631
USAs uniqueness on multiple levels and, thus, doesnt mean others must emulate us *just like Jews, as the chosen people are burdened with the need to perform tikkun olam to set an examplebut not to be aloof+.
I disagree with you regarding gay-marriage *marriage is the only known incubator for the raising of children+ and would hope that the volume of work by Robert Spencer would eliminate your concern that he might be an Islamophobe; remember, regarding the latter, he quotes extensively from Islamic writings to illustrate his viewsas we all await emergence of an Islamic Reformation.
Therefore, when you have a chancebecause your book doesnt elaborate on either of these positionsI would appreciate reading your BEST argument against Gay- Marriage and whether you now can appreciate the works of both Spencer and Pamela Geller. * In "The Bishops as Pawns", D'Souza theorized that U.S. Catholic bishops were being manipulated by American liberals in agreeing to oppose the U.S. military buildup and use of power abroad when, D'Souza believed they actually knew very little about these subjects to which they were lending their religious credibility, writing: Interviews with these bishops suggest that they know little or nothing about the ideas and proposals to which they are putting their signature and lending their religious authority. The bishops are unfamiliar with existing defense and economic programs, unable to identify even in general terms the Soviet military capability, ignorant of roughly how much of the budget currently goes to defense, unclear about how much should be reallocated to social programs, and innocent of the most basic concepts underlying the intelligent layman's discussion of these questions. [21] This is too-true, particularly noting support among Catholic-leaders for open-borders; their motivation, apparently, is to grow their flocks, regardless of where they reside [CARDINAL DISTRIBUTES COMMUNION THROUGH BORDER FENCE and Boston's Cardinal O'Malley: Americans Against Amnesty Have 'Irrational' Fear].
D'Souza is a noted conservative, and defines conservatism in the American sense as "conserving the principles of the American Revolution". [27] In Letters to a Young Conservative, written as an introduction to conservative ideas for youth, D'Souza argues that it is a blend of classical liberalism and ancient virtue, in particular, "the belief that there are moral standards in the universe and that living up to them is the best way to have a full and happy life". He also argues against what he calls the modernliberal belief that "human nature is intrinsically good", and thus that "the great conflicts in the world...arise out of terrible misunderstandings that can be corrected through ongoing conversation and through the mediation of the United Nations". [28] Concur, particularly regarding the UN [UN 'Unsure' If Kidnapping Really Happened].
1632
D'Souza challenges beliefs and projects such as affirmative action and social welfare. In the book Illiberal Education, D'Souza argued that intolerance of conservative views is common at many universities. Too-true.
He has attributed many modern social problems to what he calls the "cultural left". In his recent book The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11, he wrote that: The cultural left in this country is responsible for causing 9/11 ... the cultural left and its allies in Congress, the media, Hollywood, the non- profit sector and the universities are the primary cause of the volcano of anger toward America that is erupting from the Islamic world. [29]
Remember how Clinton viewed Islamism *a word that he, his wife and BHO cant utter+ as subject merely to law-enforcement; ignoring the fact that they are at-war with Western Civilization.
D'Souza's 2003 book What's So Great About America defends the United States against the criticisms that have been directed at it in the last couple of decades. In particular, he argues against the criticisms leveled by the Islamic world, domestic multiculturalists, those seeking slavery reparations, and especially America's left wing. He contends Americans themselves are too critical and take for granted the blessings bestowed on them by living within the borders of the United States. [30]
Concur.
He also takes this a step further and challenges the notion that all world cultures are equal. "If one begins with the multicultural premise that all cultures are equal, then the world as it is makes very little sense", he says. "Some cultures have completely outperformed others in providing the things that all people seek health, food, housing, security and the amenities of life." [30]
Concur.
D'Souza has also criticized aspects of feminism in Letters to a Young Conservative, writing that: The feminist error was to embrace the value of the workplace as greater than the value of the home. Feminism has endorsed the public sphere as inherently more constitutive of women's worth than the private sphere. Feminists have established as their criterion of success and self- worth an equal representation with men at the top of the career ladder. The consequence of this feminist scale of values is a terrible and unjust devaluation of women who work at home. [31]
Concur.
In an interview with Enter Stage Right, he said same-sex marriage did not work because "Marriage does not civilize men. Women do. This point is even evident in the gay community: it helps to explain why lesbians are generally much better than male homosexuals in sustaining long-term relationships. The reason that society privileges marriage and gives it a special legal status is because marriage is the only known incubator for the raising of children." [32]
1633
Disagree with opinion.
Christianity and religion Dinesh D'Souza states that while he has a Catholic background, which is important to him, he is comfortable with Reformation theology; he thus describes himself as a nondenominational Christian. [33] He often writes and discusses Christian apologetics and has debated against prominent atheists and skeptics, including Dan Barker, Christopher Hitchens, Peter Singer, Daniel Dennett, Michael Shermer, and Bart Ehrman. [34] In a Christian Science Monitor article, he stated, "the moral teachings of Jesus provide no support for indeed they stand as a stern rebuke to the historical injustices perpetrated in the name of Christianity." [35] D'Souza often speaks out against atheism, nonbelief, and secularism. The most elaborate presentation of his views concerning these topics can be found in his 2007 book What's so Great about Christianity. In 2009, he published Life After Death: The Evidence, which attempts to use scientific and philosophical arguments to support the concept of the afterlife, and also uses theoretical physics to support the concept of God and the fine-tuned Universe and refute atheist arguments. The book earned praise from atheist Christopher Hitchens for Dinesh's argumentative skills. [36] In 2012, he published Godforsaken, which addresses questions of how a benevolent God could allow evil and suffering in the world. D'Souza says "living creatures are the products of intelligent design," but is not a proponent of the intelligent design (ID) movement, as he does not consider ID to be a satisfactory alternative to the theory of evolution by natural selection. [37] He argues that belief in the afterlife and in a supreme being are reasonable conclusions given the evidence available, and that atheists have misrepresented the case for Christianity on many fronts. In a Catholic Education Resource Center article, he shared his belief on the separation of church and state: "Groups like the ACLU, with the acquiescence if not collusion of the courts, are actively promoting a jurisprudence of anti-religious discrimination. In a way the Supreme Court has distorted the Constitution to make religious believers of all faiths into second-class citizens." D'Souza argues that current jurisprudence unfairly promotes secularism. [38] More clearly, D'Souza states, "Today courts wrongly interpret separation of church and state to mean that religion has no place in the public arena, or that morality derived from religion should not be permitted to shape our laws. Somehow freedom for religious expression has become freedom from religious expression. Secularists want to empty the public square of religion and religious-based morality so they can monopolize the shared space of society with their own views." [39]
Concur.
D'Souza stated that he has studied radical Islam for several years [40] and read the Qur'an. [41] D'Souza debated Robert Spencer about Islam at the 2007 Conservative Political Action Conference and labeled Spencer an "Islamophobe". D'Souza said Spencer was "an effective polemicist" in his writings on Islam. [42]

A few essays suggesting what should be done about BHOs predictably disastrous foreign policy:
The real threat in Iraq By Caroline B. Glick
What's being overlooked in Obama's last-ditch effort to prevent hell from breaking loose all over the Middle East
The first step the US must take to minimize the Iranian threat is to walk away from the table and renounce the talks. The next step is to take active measures to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power.
Unfortunately, the Obama administration appears prepared to do none of these things. To the contrary, its pursuit of an alliance with Iran in Iraq indicates that it is doubling down on the most dangerous aspects of its policy of empowering America's worst enemies.
It only took the Taliban six months to move from the Bamiyan Buddhas to the World Trade Center. Al- Qaida is stronger now than ever before. And Iran is on the threshold of a nuclear arsenal.
*
The world doesn't work the way Barack Obama thought it did. [Sending 275 troops to Iraq to help secure the embassy] is a tacit acknowledgment that many of the assumptions that Obama and his foreign policy team made about the world have proven to be incorrect: That without the leverage of U.S. military power in the country, Iraqi leaders would pursue political change that wouldn't leave Sunnis alienated and antagonized and that its security forces could counter internal threats; That Afghanistan would be stable enough for the U.S. to end that war and depart with confidence the government can keep the nation on a stable path; That the U.S. could pursue a "reset" with Vladimir Putin's Russiabut then watched his troops take Crimea and threaten the rest of Ukraine; That the civil war in Syria could somehow be contained within its borders and could reach a resolution without American intervention. More than anything, these events and others have served as a rebuke to Team Obama's worldview that a new generation of leadership could move on from both the Clinton-era and Bush-era policies. Both of those administrations were more hawkish and aggressive
1635
about the exercise of American power, whether it was to intercede in regional conflicts in the Balkans or take down Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq. Disdainful of much of Washington's foreign policy establishment, Obama and his close-knit circle of advisers, on the other hand, talked about engaging Iran diplomatically, using sanctions to punish bad actors, "pivoting" to Asia, and neutralizing the threat of terrorism more bloodlessly through the use of drones. They viewed American power in terms of limits. This was a president, after all, who opposed the U.S. "surge" that arguably stabilized Iraq to the point where Obama could pull the troops out. Yet here was Obama on Thursday using the language of presidents past such as John Kennedy and George W. Bush, talking of sending "advisers" into a global hot spot and warning of the need to deny "safe haven" to terrorist groups. "Right now, this is the moment when the fate of Iraq hangs in the balance," he said something that sounded So 10 Years Ago. That's why Obama's remarks had to have left such a bitter taste. Iraq was a box that his administration had checked. And already, the unrest there is casting fresh doubt on his decision to leave Afghanistan just a few years removed from calling for his own "surge" there. Americans are giving his handling of foreign policy the lowest marks of his presidency. With Syria on fire, Egypt and Libya in turmoil, and Russia meddling in Ukraine, the world has reached up and pulled the once-soaring avatar of change crashing earthward. Icarus, we told you so.
Destabilizing the Middle East By Richard Baehr
The killing of Osama bin Laden was supposed to be the capstone to the president's foreign policy achievements -- ending the wars abroad, and wrapping up our business with al-Qaida, producing a new stable world order, with a more comfortable, reduced American role as one among many. It seems more likely today that what the administration views as its achievements are seen abroad as neglect and negligence. Unfortunately, neglect and negligence are destabilizing.
Years of Living Dangerously By Clifford D. May
The largest and most expensive embassy in the world is in Baghdad. President George W. Bush built it in the hope, perhaps the expectation, that before long, it would house envoys to the first democratic American ally in the Arab world. It hasnt quite worked out that way. With terrorists on the march throughout an expanding swath of Iraq, the State Department last weekend began to evacuate substantial numbers of diplomats. Meanwhile, dozens of Marines are being sent in.
Its useful to name that threat, and it was encouraging that Mr. Obama did so last week: We do have a stake in making sure these jihadists do not gain a permanent foothold in either Iraq or Syria, he said. 1636
{Its ABOUT TIME!}
The jihadists to which he refers, of course, belong to ISIS, the Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham, which rose from the ashes of al Qaeda in Iraq. Al Sham implies the Levant: Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Cyprus, Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. As the name also suggests, ISIS aims to create a state that will join others al Qaeda-affiliated forces are currently fighting in no fewer than nine countries to form a new caliphate, an Islamic empire that does not plan to peacefully coexist with infidel and Muslim apostate states.
Like most other jihadist groups, ISIS acts locally but thinks globally. Its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, has promised America direct confrontation. The sons of Islam have prepared for such a day. He has added: Soon we will face you, and we are waiting for this day.
Some elite analysts and American officials have concluded that the U.S. should make common cause with Irans supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei against ISIS. Can they really believe that Iran, for years ranked by the U.S. government as the worlds primary state sponsor of terrorism, would be a reliable ally in a war against terrorists? Would you stock a river with crocodiles to solve a piranha problem?
A better approach: Design a strategy to weaken and, over time, defeat all the various jihadist forces threatening us and competing among themselves for dominance over the barbaric new world they envision a world of beheadings, amputations, crucifixions, summary executions and mass murders; a world in which women are chattel; a world in which religious, ethnic and sexual minorities are brutally persecuted if not cleansed.
Such a strategy would integrate multiple components more than I can detail in a brief column. But economic diplomacy and, in some instances, economic warfare would certainly be among them. For example, The Daily Beasts Josh Rogin reports that for years ISIS was funded by wealthy donors in Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Our intelligence community should be able to identify such individuals and, one way or another, stem the flow. (At this point, its worth noting that ISIS may have become strong enough to fund itself the old-fashioned way: by taking booty. Last week, its fighters reportedly looted $430 million from a bank in Mosul.)
Energy policies that bolster national security rather than ship trillions of dollars to people who despise us are long overdue. It would be in our interest to support proxies willing and able to fight common enemies as we did during the Cold War. For three years, Syrian nationalists have been asking for the means to fight both Mr. Assads forces and the Sunni jihadists. Refusing to support them was not strategic.
Finally, the lesson we learn from recent military interventions cannot be to never again use force which also would prevent us from credibly threatening to use force. Our enemies need to be convinced that so long as they will not make peace with us, they will not be safe from us; not while they are fighting, not while they are resting, recuperating and plotting. Among other things, this implies that Congress must keep in place, and perhaps expand, the Authorization to Use Military Force.
1637
Years of living dangerously lie ahead. The carnage in Iraq should be a wake-up call for those who havent grasped that. We can run as some on both the left and right are advocating but we really cant hide from those who believe it is their religious duty to destroy us.
If we develop a smart strategy and implement it aggressively we still wont win every battle. Thats an important point, too: In Iraq, as in Syria and Afghanistan, what we have been losing are battles. Flashback: The Obama Temptation [October 25, 2008 9:29 PM] By Mark R. Levin
It is desirable, again, to initiate this overnight-summary with information thematic of the modern-day fight against multiple manifestations of anti-Semitism [loco-regional, statewide, national, global].
Following-up what I wrote yesterday in the Comments-section of the Jewish Exponent, an unheralded-hero of the effort to enact MANDATED Holocaust Education was and continues to be Rhonda Fink-Whitman; this information could not be shrouded from a public that should be wondering what had been occurring within the Jewish community to have prompted Federation to oppose our efforts, particularly after a prior piece had served as a naked-attempt to diss her [by suggesting she had become self-marginalized].
This woman combined boundless-energy and BEING CORRECT to push a clear agenda, and I view this incident as part of a continuum of pressures that must be directed @ a Federation that has been silent after a Temple-Prof has inter alia revealed himself to be a Holocaust-Minimizer [in the words of Mort Klein, ZOA-Prez]; this is a festering problem 1639
about which Lisa has yet to editorialize. As another example of the failings of both the Federation and its public-organ, ponder what happened just after I provided Eric Berger, the Jewish Exponent reporter who had written the deficient-pieces regarding this bill [with the version he had composed thrice, finally published this past week] rather intensely-negative, direct, face-to-face, unambiguous, forceful, referenced-feedback [choose your adjectival phrase]. I spoke to him @ Caroline Glicks speech that was delivered WITHIN THE FEDERATION BUILDING which he attended, 11 days ago, but NOTHING was published thereafter for readers [in addition to the 150 in attendance].
Autocratic egotists @ Federation must receive their come-uppance, for more battles-to-come loom; they need to be reminded demonstrably that maintaining a forthright position against myriad evil-tentacles of anti-Semitism requires [at least] 24-7 vigilanceand super-prompt exposure of IDed problems, lest they be permitted to fester.
Perhaps a disinterested reader might view my spate of Comments to constitute overkill; on the other hand, arguments are referenced and the narrative is cohesive, so the overall impact among those who might wish to take-a-gander promises to be powerful. And, if such info is to be forgotten, this one article *with the history it spawned+ is subject to being subsequently cited as a definitive statement regarding the antics we were forced to encounter; metaphorically, efforts to update the GOP-Establishment by the TEA [Taxed Enough Already+ Party Movement may be seen as comparableand the outcome measures of the latter are increasingly supportive of such initiatives.
These comments were written in a fashion that integrates the ability [when dealing with Federation] of Chuck and Rhonda to maintain plausible-deniability whenever queried regarding what Ive uploadedand Im forever braced for such an outcome; chroniclers [Herodotus, Josephus] recorded contemporaneous info that spinners must confront and, thus, presaged is a heads-up deluge on employers of people such as Hank Butler [based upon an amalgamation of evidence, rather than pure-conjecture]. I am not wont merely to declare victory and to move-on when faced with an untreated underlying diagnosis, lest a relapse transpirearising in myriad guises, sooner rather than later.
Nationally, illustrating the importance of what is necessary to address regarding Temple U., note that, at SFSU, partisans of Israel-Bashing Professor Rabab Abdulhami [advocating the the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel] Struck Back [financed by California taxpayers]; indeed, those who wanted to keep-an-open-mind-about-murder instead of recognizing that the Klinghoffer opera served solely as a manifestation of anti-Semitism were not satisfied when the Met announced it wouldnt be broadcast worldwide; justifiably, they argue the entire project should be scrapped. One wonders why those who are so enmeshed in whether the 'Redskin' battle would have the capacity to recognize publicly the Jews' Endless History of Persecution, during which Europeans have, during the past thousand years, barelyif at allrepressed anti-Semitism that now drives their anti-Israelism.
In this regard, they probably ignore internationally whats happening in England [Muslim Group Runs Islam Detoxification Ads on Buses, while a British jihadist tweeted BEHEAD CAMERON in Call for Assassination of UK Prime Minister], France [Sharia in France (Muslims attack man for eating ham sandwich) is prompting Jews to Leave France in Droves and to Head to Israel], and the Ukraine [Jews are planning to flee civil unrest and 1640
political turmoil in Donetsk, a besieged city in Ukraine, while the US Sanctioned Leaders of Pro-Russian Forces in East Ukraine (BHO delivered more sanctions if the violence did not stop, but did not touch Putin or any of his cronies, instead focusing only on the leaders of the pro-Russian forces, who have no real assets or connections to the West)].
These concern carry implications, for one must ask if Palestinians could Humanize Living Jews when they wont sympathize with the 6 million Murdered; as the Knockout Game Reached Jerusalem, Savages Sock Jewish Studentsbut does anyone care? For example, Apprehension of the Jihadist Suspect in Benghazi Massacre has been invoked for political purposes, and there seem to have been Lots of Recent Man- Caused Disasters, suggesting BHOs outreach to the Islamic world doesnt seem to be working; thus, such failures have been perceived absent their underlying anti-Semitic components.
Sen. Ted Cruz feels the 'Threats Were Facing in this Country Are Unprecedented' and Breitbart's Shapiro views the Obama Administration as a 'Mafia-esque Organization'. Meanwhile, BHOs Scandal-Sheet proliferates [Bergdahl: Three Unanswered Questions as Bergdahl was released from inpatient care at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas] and, in particular, this week, the legitimate question raised [What is the IRS hiding?] has been met with common-sense solutions [LOST EMAILS? Regarding the issue of secrecy [Court renews order allowing NSA to collect phone records and PAPER: America's expanding police state], it has been suggested that the GOP encourage Millennials to Oppose NSA Intrusion; this should be perceived as part of a global approach to suppress Big Governments intrusion upon Individual Rights [and, thus, to encompass relaxation of the GOPs social-issue postures on gay-marriage, abortion, and pot-legalization]. Perhaps such recognition could spread to Dems due to overwhelming fiscal-realities, as has perhaps occurred in California [Amtrak Bails on CA's High-Speed Rail and Analyst Says Budget Deal Doesn't Save High-Speed Rail After All].
Perhaps newly-empowered moderate-republicans such as Kevin McCarthy could push a more libertarian agenda [Five challenges for McCarthy are Make a mark, Handle the business-conservative rift, Work with (Rising Conservative Star) Scalise, Win in November, and Avoid Cantors fate] a challenge it seems he has properly recognized [Kevin McCarthy won't reauthorize the Export-Import Bank and Laughing All the Way to the Export-Import Bank]; newly-empowered conservative-republicans could emerge accordingly [MCDANIEL HAS 8-POINT LEAD OVER COCHRAN, DAYS FROM ELECTION and Dems Campaigning for Moderate Cochran in Mississippi]. In the process, unfortunately, the media will continue to be pushing libs [New York Magazine: Dana Milbank Heritage Smear Fake But Accurate].

In PA, turmoil remains the norm, as bipartisan accusations of corruption persisted [Lawyers seek dismissal of bribery charges against ex-Dem leader and Casino magnate's donation to GOP might be illegal]; also, it was revealed by the Bucks DA that HR mistakes cost taxpayers $450K and that Salaries for Bucks Countys 13 public school superintendents for the 2014-15 school year will range from $130,000 to $220,375. DEMS FOUGHT OVER PARTY LEADERSHIP, RENDELL RIPPED BURNS, and WOLF SKIPPED MEETING; I commented on three stories from PoliticsPA [Staff Shakeup Highlights Dem Family Feud, Burn Celebrates Re-Election at State Committee Meeting and Corbett Ties Wolf to Obama, Wolf Connects Corbett to Harrisburg] thusly [noting that these commentsand the responses theretowere directed @ David Diano]:
First, remember that your opinions were discounted and your avoidance of predicting was documented [regarding PA13], so you continue pontificating @ your peril. Second, it is true that Corbett is down in the polls, but you know that they routinely tighten as election-day approaches; thus, it is apt BOTH to reject the two-term mantra AND the assumption that Corbett is doomed. 1643
Third, it would be wrong to conclude Wolfs three-headed monster paradigm is flawed at its onset, for its possible hell be able to divide the workload and to coordinate *to whatever degree it's legal] accordingly. Fourth, you ignore Marcels observation; as MAD as he knows I am @ him for not lambasting BHO on his failed foreign policies [particularly Iran], he is indubitably correct, here, for Wolf must be perceived as the titular head of the party [win or lose] now and for the next four years [reflecting the grass-roots verdict]. Fifth, it is vital that the GOP not become excessively pleased with awareness of this presumed-turmoil; it will settle-down as common-goals are rediscovered; the far more important event will be the AG-Kane report on whether there will be a Tom and Jerry [Sandusky] show in the Fall [due to be released tomorrow]. * The comment that triggered my reaction was your initial Nothing to see here! Remain calm! All is well!; this attempt to minimize what occurred was contravened by the subsequent comments [including yours] regarding what had transpired [and why]. Obviously, my allegedly obtuse lingo didnt impede your ability to appreciate my having concurred with Marcels viewpoint; regardless of how the issue was handled, the task of unification was created. Your pontifications aside, your prediction of Corbetts inevitable defeat *"There is no action he can take in these last few months to dig out of the hole hes dug for 4 years."+ denies the import of Sandusky ["it's summertime"] without recognizing the fact that one may presume 1/4-million PSU-grads [who vote] will suddenly shed their chronic fealty for JoePa. * You cannot justify attacking me for your ambiguity *The nothing to see here comment "] when you had to explain-it-away subsequently by citing information you had failed initially to divulge; it is certainly gratifying that you concur that the weekends events will undoubtedly create an additional challenge for Wolf. You attacked Chris for alleged-illiteracy, but you forgot to insert a vowel in a subsequent sentence ["If you agree with Marcel that unification is achieved, then you should (BE) more, not less, convinced of Corbetts defeat."+. The Sandusky-stats include employees, indeed, anyone who has potentially-emotional ties to PSUs storied-past; I didnt argue that most would vote for Corbett, but I did express the concern that they would not be as predisposed to support his re-election if they felt he had unjustifiably dissed JoePa. I concur that deserves is a strong term but, as you know, you cant beat someone with no-one and those who may feel disaffected would have to feel motivated to vote for someone else [whom they actually might not consider qualified, or might not share their beliefs, or may not seem trustworthy, etc.]; thus, notwithstanding polls, Corbett can attempt to assemble the same complement of voters he enjoyed in 10. 1644
I may write for others when suggesting that you satirize only yourself by using inflated rhetoric; better you should provide unbridled info when pontificating, if you would want your assertions to withstand the test-of-time. *** As I just wrote elsewhere [http://www.politicspa.com/exclusive-staff-shakeup- highlights-dem-family-feud/58902/comment-page-1/#comment-868341], you do not re-enter the world of pontification with clean hands, and your skewed thought-patterns are again evident. Your hypothetical ignores the effects of what happened over time; clearly, there are roots to this obvious conflict that will persist; again, although the GOP shouldnt draw any degree of false-confidence from awareness of what has transpired, it would behoove you to adopt a more level-headed approach to interpreting ongoing events. Again, although I could be accused perhaps of over-focus on issues, the greater impact on the gubernatorial race will emerge as the voters look upon Corbett [and lower unemployment, for example] in a cohesive fashion [comparing promises with performance]. * If you think your best-shot is on Education-funding, perhaps you should recognize that it has increased during the past three years [with total external funding dipping only after the "Stimulus"+; each of the below is on the Commonwealth Foundations website: An Inconvenient Truth: School Spending & Revenue at All-Time Highs Five Facts on Pennsylvania Public Schools Myth: PA Spends Less on Education * None of your attacks on the Commonwealth Foundation included citation of alternate- data; this impugns your ability to provide evidence-based info. Also, I have no doubt that Philly will vote for Wolf/Stack but, remember, people have a tendency both to vote for a party and to reject an individual who provokes revulsion; would you not agree that BHO is rapidly attaining the latter status, portending a tsunami mediated by the former phenomenon? Also, your memory is faulty when you claim Id claimed existence of a groundswell of support for Guzzardi, because my focus was on his ballot-eligibility [for I'd vetted the signatures]; I felt [as did he...and the one poll that was taken in this regard] that he had a baseline-support of ~20% [most of whom would gladly support Corbett over Wolf, BTW, assuming they vote]. *** 1645
For the third time this-a.m., it is necessary to call-you-to-task on this website; your recent track-record [http://www.politicspa.com/exclusive-staff-shakeup-highlights- dem-family-feud/58902/comment-page-1/#comment-868341] and your faulty logic [http://www.politicspa.com/exclusive-staff-shakeup-highlights-dem-family- feud/58902/comment-page-1/#comment-868341] have already been recounted. In this instance, you channel your fearless-hero, BHO, who has unilaterally declared the death of the coal industry and the inevitability of higher utility rates; better you should endorse the Keystone XL Pipeline and allow free-markets to energize both America and the world [including Europe and, in particular, Ukraine]. Your ability to conjure rationalizations is your most characteristic capacity, here, but you lose credibility in the process [both from your Dem-colleagues and, of course, from GOP'ers such as myself]; perhaps you may wish to replace reflex-boosterism with an ounce of pragmatism before pontificating with such a take-no-prisoners closed-minded- ness. * Your shots @ Guzzardi neglect the underlying concern that has animated your comments, namely, the problems associated with Corbetts re-election campaign; I have maintained the PSU-issue is profound and will have to be overcome, a challenge that wouldnt have existed if Cawley had inherited the nod. That Guzzardi channeled many deeply conservative concerns [including the issue of tax- hikes] cannot be denied and will have to be tackled also, as Corbett attempts to motivate the base; again, Cawley wouldnt have had as much of a problem in this regard. In both instances, however, Corbett can rebound; in contrast, your ability to conjure false anti-Coal arguments [e.g., undocumented environmental risks]were its wisdom:to be mirrored by Demscould easily serve as one Achilles Heel that could metastasize [if any degree of clear-messaging were to be conveyed to the citizenry]. * You argue that the Sandusky-situation is baked-in-the-cake of overall Corbett- opposition, but it is possible the former could be alleviated tomorrow andto whatever degree it may have bled into the latterlegislative achievements could alleviate the latterso your claims/conclusions are premature. Guzzardi didnt articulate idiot-ideas, and you may recall how erroneous your multiple predictions were regarding his petitions; as you know, the Supremes claimed he didnt follow law that even the DoS had supersededso you cannot fault his supporters for having advocated on his behalf. Finally, your claims regarding the safety-issues facing coal-mining are both based on 20th-century data and not dispositive; this is similar to attacks on fracking and the Keystone XLso if you are going to adhere to environmentalism, you really owe the readership facts rather than pontification. 1646

AG-Kanes just-released 166-page report report on how Corbett handled the Sandusky investigation concluded precisely what Id predicted; although it CLEARED CORBETT OF POLITICAL MOTIVATION, IT CRITICIZED 'INEXCUSABLE LACK OF URGENCY' IN CHARGING SANDUSKY.
AG-Kanes investigation did find crucial missteps and inexplicable delays in bringing (Sandusky) a serial child molester to justice. See and investigator H. Geoffrey Moulton Jr. discussed the findings at a news conference at 10:30 a.m. in the Capitol Building.
This was a full and fair review, Kane said in a prepared statement. The facts show an inexcusable lack of urgency in charging and stopping a serial sexual predator. The report documents that more investigative work took place in just one month in 2011 than in all of either 2009 or 2010.
The report is critical of Corbetts investigation for, among other things, waiting more than two years to search Sanduskys home.
Prosecutor Jonelle Eshbach recommended charges against Sandusky in March 2010 based on statements from Victim 1, but the AGs office wanted to find more victims to strengthen the case before prosecuting. The decision is attributed in the report to Sandusky prosecutor Frank Fina, and was later endorsed by Corbett; those involved told Moulton the decision was based on the merits of the case, not politics.
Evidence later found in Sanduskys home could have pointed investigators to additional victims, cutting the need for a delay. The AGs office also delayed requesting records from local police, child protective services and The Second Mile, among others.
AG-Kane: This case sat inactive for months while a predator was on the streets and a victim waited for justice. The grand jury presentment, drafted and supported by the lead prosecutor, sat on someones desk for five months. Only after the lead prosecutor repeatedly pushed for an answer, the presentment was denied. It is unfathomable why there was such a lack of urgency.
1649
Later in the investigation, efforts to obtain records that had been subpoenaed from Penn State and The Second Mile but not turned-over consumed considerable time and energy. Prosecutors had significant difficultly getting certain records from Penn State and Sanduskys charity, which undoubtedly slowed the investigation.
The report did not find evidence that Corbett delayed the investigation for political reasons while he ran for governor. Contributions to Corbetts campaign by The Second Mile board members also werent found to be a factor in the investigation.
While the failure to contact The Second Mile before January 2011 is indeed puzzling that failure does not appear to have been the product of directions from Corbett or his senior executive staff, Moulton wrote in the report.
Also according to the report:
Eshbach, the lead investigator, and Fina, her boss, thought the investigation should be handled through a grand jury. They reasoned that there were advantages such as the power to compel testimony under oath, the ability to subpoena documents not otherwise obtainable and the ability to keep certain testimony secret.
But the report notes that for long stretches of time before the investigation ramped up in 2011, the resources of the Grand Jury were barely used at all. From the beginning of January 2010 through the end of October 2010, for example, the Grand Jury issued no subpoenas for testimony and only one subpoena for records.
Corbett, who was offered a chance to respond to the report, declined to do so in a memo attached to the document.
Fina, fellow Sandusky prosecutor Joe McGettigan and others who worked on the case, issued a response that included a number of criticisms of the report.
The contention that a search warrant could have been served prior to 2011, for instance, is factually and legally offensive, they said.
And the report blithely ignores and misconstrues the facts and law that led to our prudent decision to forgo a search warrant until 2011, when they further built their case, they wrote.
Sandusky was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison and is serving his time in solitary confinement at the Greene state prison.

The situation in Iraq is bad and getting worse
The New York Times reports that ISIL insurgents have captured the last major border post between Iraq and Syria as the Sunni militants continue to advance towards Baghdad. Iraqi and western officials tell the Times that the taking of the border town of Al Qaim after a three-day fight opened the way for fighters and weapons to move over the border with ease and was a worrying development.
+ An international intervention seems less and less likely. Reuters reports that Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has condemned the U.S. deployment of 300 military advisers in Iraq on Sunday, accusing Washington of seeking control as Sunni insurgents drove toward Baghdad from the Syrian border and consolidated positions in the north and west. Cooperation between Iran and the U.S. to contains the ISIL was previously considered by Western lawmakers as a possibility, if a longshot.
+ BuzzFeeds Mike Giglio observes that all is not well for regular Iraqi citizens in Baghdad: Fears of sectarian conflict have been driving some Sunnis to flee Baghdad, as ISIL militants push toward the capital. In Baghdad, Shiite volunteers have rushed to take up arms; Sunnis have begun looking at their neighbors with increasing alarm, writes Giglio. The sectarian bloodletting that rocked the city during the U.S. occupation hangs heavy, as does the fact that Maliki has only tightened his grip on the capital since the Americans left.

Regarding Illegals, 300 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES WERE FLOWN FROM TEXAS TO SAN DIEGO, presaging the fact that Immigrant Children are going to remain Able to Stay for Years 'Without Consequences'; meanwhile, in various ways, increased federal-$ is being sought as a result of this invasion [Mayors call on Congress to tackle illegal immigration; Massachusetts Mayor to Feds: Stop Sending my City Refugees; FOREIGN CORPSES STRAIN TEXAS COUNTY BUDGET; NORTH TEXAS CHARITIES FEEL STRAIN OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT TIDAL WAVE; and BORDER PATROL STATIONS IN DIRE NEED OF MEDICAL HELP AND SUPPLIES]. As ILLEGALS HOP 'DEATH TRAINS' TO USA, Canada Slashed Guest-Worker Permits in Half. This is how Immigration Reform's Open Invitation to Children has been framed by libs [c/o New York Times]:
The mere promise of amnesty in the future has played a role in the surge of children trying to cross the border.
One answer, consistent and sincere, is that the child migration really shows we need an open border [one that does away with the problems of asylum hearings and 1652
deportations] eliminates the need for dangerous journeys across deserts and mountains, and just lets the kids relatives save up for a plane ticket. Come one, come all.
But this is not the answer that President Obama or the congressional architects of an immigration bill would offer. Instead, the official promise is always that well get amnesty and a system of enforcement that will deter and deport and police employers more effectively [so that major crises dont recur, future migration happens mostly through legal channels, and this comprehensive reform can be the last].
But if this is actually the goal, then why not first prove that a more effective enforcement system can actually be built, and only then codify an offer of legal status?
Because when that offer seems to be forthcoming, if you havent built it, they will come.
Regarding the culture-clash, the quest to find a secular alternative to God is long, arduous, and continuing, as myriad parameters are weighed [Reason, nature, culture, the sublime, science, humanity, being, society]. On the one hand, the libs [falsely] claim Two-Parent Households Can Be Lethal; on the other hand, social-conservatives [falsely] claim deviating from traditional marriage Is Hurting Kids Futures; the former is based on presence of an abusive parent, and the latter is based upon the fact that 57% of mothers between 26 and 31 are unmarried when their child is born. The only reasonable way to define common-ground is to allow the victimless behavior *not crime+ of gay-marriage to be legal. {Also, the Common Core [anathema to social-conservatives, plus most conservative-Republicans) Issue Highlights Huge Role of Federal Government in Education.}
Regarding gun-laws, the WaPo falsely claimed the Individual Right to Gun Ownership was Created by the Supreme Court in 2008; it is noted that COURT DOCUMENTS show the OREGON GUNMAN STOLE HIS AR-15 and that Another 5 Killed, 19 Wounded in Chicago's Weekend Violence. Again, people kill people, not guns.
Politico's Raju claimed it is 'Not Entirely Clear' What Dems Stand For, but THE LEFT HAS REBOOTED FOR TOTAL WAR, noting that the vast liberal conspiracy [manifest, for example, as Democracy Alliances 21 groups] intends to spend $374 million during the midterm election cycle; Democracy Alliance [a major left-wing dark money outfit] finances and help run [serving as top advisers and officers of] Obamas personal advocacy group. These efforts are being manifest today @ an Obama summit (co-sponsored by the Department of Labor and Center for American Progress), which will hit Dem talking points at which a (politically) star-studded convocation will address policies that allegedly-alleviate problems faced by working families; the punch-line in its suggestion of A way to better pay, benefits and workplace flexibility is Unions. Perhaps as a prelude, yesterdays NY-Times attacked The Corporate Daddy Walmart, Starbucks, etc.] as necessitating a Fight Against Inequality.
RANGEL may be having his LAST HURRAH, for the New York Dem is facing his most serious reelection battle; Gov. Cuomo endorsed Rep. Rangel in NY primary and Rangel is dancing to finish line ahead of vote, but he fought changing demographics [many more Hispanics] and voter apathy while his challenger dismissed polls showing him behind.
Counterpointing the ability of Dems to run the cities is the fact that Nearly Half Of Detroit Residents Can't Pay Water Bills, and the UN May Be Called-In For Help; counterpointing the claim of Michelle 1653
Obamas anti-obesity campaign that salad bars have increased student participation in school lunch, know that one million children fled the lunch line in response to her new lunch standards. It has also been revealed that elijah-cummings was implicated-by-irs-email-as-person-directing-lois-lerner; its no wonder that GEORGE W. BUSH IS SIX POINTS HIGHER THAN BARACK OBAMA IN FAVORABILITY POLL and that Fournier [a GOP-Moderate] concluded that Obama Lies as Bad as Bush.
There have been two responses to the Free Beacon s publication of The Hillary Tapes *...+ and Josh Rogins breathtaking, heartrending interview with the victim of that rape; one was ho-hum [by Dems] and the other was that of Powers and Stirewalt, who blasted the University of Arkansas Librarian [a Clinton Donor] for Attack on Free Press. Regarding the instruction Hillary said she refused to carry-out [It Was Hillarys JOB to Be Scummy!] because some felt it was a Winning Political Argument, contradicting her book, Plouffe claimed no one in the campaign Asked Hillary to Attack Palin. Illustrating her problem with messaging [highlighted today by Rush] were her revised claims [Hillary Clinton: Bill and I Aren't 'Truly Well Off' and We're not truly 'well off,' Hillary says, despite the fact that the Clintons have made millions; as a result, the WaPo suggested the Clintons wealth could become a political liability [for Some Dems fear the 2016 front-runner seems more Downtown Abbey than middle-class America]. {Indeed, apparently, Hillary wants credit for paying income tax.}
The GOPs Civil-War continues apace, on all levels. Regarding POTUS-16, Jeffrey Toobin portrayed Ted Cruz as The Absolutist; a Christie-Backed Casino [Revel] is Going Bust in AC,NJ; and Paul aimed for minority voters by inter alia CALLING FOR AN 'EXPANDED WORK VISA PROGRAM.' {The former gains status as the latter-two sink due to unforced-errors.} Regarding the Senate, McDaniel EXPANDED LEAD OVER COCHRAN to 8 points [52 to 44 percent, with 4 percent undecided], according to Chism Strategies, a Democratic pollster based in Mississippi [the polling of which was the closest of any poll in predicting the primary results; meanwhile, COCHRAN was found to have ENJOYED a LONG AND PROFITABLE RELATIONSHIP WITH TRUSTMARK BANK and McCain was Unable To Attend a Cochran Rally. {Also, newly-vulnerable Lamar Alexander Recruited Kix Brooks to Defend his Conservative Record.}
Regarding the House, Dems claimed Congress has defaulted to duck and cover, while others note the fact that the Cantor loss continues to jolt the landscape; the tea partys obituary was being written until Dave Brat came along. The GOP leadership [after the election of McCarthy and Scalise] is still shaking-out; some claim these Changes strengthen John Boehners hand rendering him more likely to stay on as Speaker because Eric Cantor is no longer his heir apparent. Over the weekend, McCarthy pushed back against critics [Check my voting record," the incoming House majority leader said], as McCarthys role was debated in his land of immigrants [illustrating the complicated and emotional politics around immigration facing the House majority leader]. There is no question, however, that an immediate impact of this shuffling has transpired:
Texas business leaders want Congress to renew the Export-Import Bank's charter, but House Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R- Texas) wont; Congress sets the Ex-Im Bank's lending cap and must reauthorize its charter, which is due to expire in September. If it isn't reauthorized, the agency will be unable to back new financing and will essentially wind down its loan portfolio. Cantor helped steer a reauthorization of the trade agency through Congress in 2012, bucking 1654
some of his more conservative colleagues; the measure passed easily in the Senate as well. This year, the chances it will be reauthorized without [McCarthy's] support are narrow, particularly given the recent shake-up among House GOP leaders; the incoming House Majority Whip, Steve Scalise of Louisiana, has signaled his opposition to the agency. Thus, the only House Republican who could overrule them both, Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, has signaled he won't.
And the effects of Cantors defeat are rippling through other GOP-primaries [Elise Stefanik Has Commanding Lead in GOP Nomination Race for New Yorks 21 st
congressional district and Claudia Tenney Hopes to Ride David Brat Wave to Victory over Richard Hanna], but discretion appears to have been maintained in the process when EX-GRASSLEY AIDE [David Young, supported by the Republican Party establishment] CAPTURED a Congressional NOMINATION for Iowas 3 rd District U.S. House seat, beating State Sen. Brad Zaun [a Tea Party favorite who carries a gun and told delegates that he would 'spill my blood' to prevent abortion].
One issue that could attract youth to the GOP is the fact that the National Security Agency (NSA) is Hurting Millennials' Way of Life; NSA critics hailed recent votes as game-changers, as Lawmakers and privacy advocates who are fighting to restrain it say the tide is turning in their favor. They note that Unblinking Eyes Track Employees; that Germany colluded with NSA; and that a Memo Approving Drone Strike on American was Released. This could reverse the reverie BHO has enjoyed until now.
The Environment
The Supreme Court limited the EPA's ability to regulate greenhouse gases:
The Supreme Court partially upheld and partially rejected a set of early EPA greenhouse gas regulations for major pollution sources, following a legal challenge by the utility industry. The case has no bearing on the major greenhouse gas rule for power plants that the agency released June 2, but the decision has symbolic importance, since both rules are centered on EPA's interpretation of its powers under the Clean Air Act. The court said EPA cannot require PSD or air permits based solely on an agencys release of greenhouse gases, but that emission sources that already need those permits should have to use the best available technology to control greenhouse gases.
Thus, it is vital to scrutinize a persuasive piece in yesterdays NY-Times by Paulsen, proclaiming a Coming Climate Crash; its essence requires scrutiny from open-minded people:
Its true that the United States cant solve this problem alone. But were not going to be able to persuade other big carbon polluters to take the urgent action thats needed if were not doing everything we can do to slow our carbon emissions and mitigate our risks.
Scientists have identified a number of these holes potential thresholds that, once crossed, could cause sweeping, irreversible changes. They dont know exactly when we would reach them. But they know we should do everything we can to avoid them. 1655
Already, observations are catching up with years of scientific models, and the trends are not in our favor.
Fewer than 10 years ago, the best analysis projected that melting Arctic sea ice would mean nearly ice-free summers by the end of the 21st century. Now the ice is melting so rapidly that virtually ice-free Arctic summers could be here in the next decade or two. The lack of reflective ice will mean that more of the suns heat will be absorbed by the oceans, accelerating warming of both the oceans and the atmosphere, and ultimately raising sea levels.
Even worse, in May, two separate studies discovered that one of the biggest thresholds has already been reached. The West Antarctic ice sheet has begun to melt, a process that scientists estimate may take centuries but that could eventually raise sea levels by as much as 14 feet. Now that this process has begun, there is nothing we can do to undo the underlying dynamics, which scientists say are baked in. And 10 years from now, will other thresholds be crossed that scientists are only now contemplating?
It is true that there is uncertainty about the timing and magnitude of these risks and many others. But those who claim the science is unsettled or action is too costly are simply trying to ignore the problem. We must see the bigger picture.
THIS problem cant be solved without strong leadership from the developing world. The key is cooperation between the United States and China the two biggest economies, the two biggest emitters of carbon dioxide and the two biggest consumers of energy.
There are plenty of contrary viewpoints [Scandal of fiddled global warming data...USA has actually been COOLING since 1930s, the hottest decade on record; Obama Warns of 'Hurricane Intensity' Despite 8- Year Hiatus; Australian PM introduces bill to repeal carbon tax; 4 QUESTIONS FOR GREENPEACE AS THEY FUNDRAISE OFF THEIR 2013 RUSSIAN RUN-IN and GOP Weekly Address: Obama EPA Rules Will Force States to Ration Energy]. Also, it is claimed that Global warming was 'Fabricated' by Scientists at two of the worlds leading climate centres [NASA and NOAA] when they allegedly manipulated temperature data to overstate the extent of the 20 th century "global warming." Yet, although Antarctica is enlarging, the National Geographic Just Announced One of the "Most Striking Changes" They've Ever Recorded, for Arctic ice sheets are melting so quickly and in such large amounts that it's affecting world maps.
I asked my son to help analyze these data; input from others is cordially invited!

After having read what I considered to be poor-quality articles regarding Gun Control, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, I wrote a letter-to-the-editor; today, it was published and, therefore, it is desirable to provide primary-data to permit a fair and balanced review of my critique and responses from both authors. Curiously, the structure of what usually occurs in such instances was supplanted by sandwiching my letter between the authors of the primary article [a lengthy elaboration upon its rationale, absent reference to my critique thereof] and of the editorial [a more deferential defense of the opinions ensconced therein]; customarily, the criticism is followed by replies from the authors. Again, here is what I wrote:
TO THE EDITOR:
Because public health research predictably guides a generation of public policy, it is necessary to scrutinize the political science underlying the paired systematic review (1) and editorial (2) on gun control. Challenges are detected to fundamental standards that may compromise an otherwise sound meta-analysis of available literature. The last sentences of each are revelatory. Anglemyer and colleagues' review finds restricting *access to a firearm in the home+ may effectively prevent injury (1), and Hemenway's accompanying editorial concludes that obtaining a firearm not only endangers those living in the home but also imposes substantial costs on the community (2). Notwithstanding unaddressed Second Amendment constraints, the authors of both unabashedly campaign to restrict the right to bear arms, thereby ignoring, for example, the human compulsion to manifest reasonable self-defense.
The intuitive deduction that the availability of a firearm will increase the risk that momentary depression will yield suicide is consistent with modern lay culture (recalling the 1945 movie Spellbound) and medical scholarship (recalling an essay published last year in Annals [3]). Yet, it is undermined by the editorialist, who has argued that the widespread ownership of firearms in private hands in the United States promotes the spread of the disease of gun violence (4). He invoked a generalized reference to his book when claiming, There is no association between gun ownership levels and suicide by means other than guns. These studies have controlled for ... depression [and] suicidal ideation. If true, this assertion would undermine efforts to include scrutiny of mental health data during any mandated background checks; alas, it is untrue, because profiles of psychiatric patients at high risk for suicide have been generated (5).
In Anglemyer and colleagues' review, the study by Brent and colleagues was among the articles cited (reference 26), prompting confusion because it was among 3 articles cited in the online Appendix that purports to show the disposition of studies excluded after full-text review along with 2 others (references 32 and 60) because the study populations were contained in previously published data included in this review (1). Noting that there are 59 print references and 97 online references, merely counting the 1657
number of citations associated with a particular reason for exclusion yields the observation that there is an admixture of articles that were included and articles that were excluded (that is, some were among the references published in print and at least 1 was among those published online only). The authors should have provided a crosswalk pairing of how one set of data was subsuming another set of myriad peer- reviewed studies, precluding concern that any undue selectivity existed.
Therefore, author biasseeking the ability to generate the above preordained outcomecould have clouded how subsidiary observations were drawn regarding, for example, the allegation of enhanced risk for homicide by a household member. Adopting a purely academic approach could have yielded insights as to the type of mental health diagnoses that might predispose to criminal gun use. Indeed, this entire body of work could then have been compared/contrasted with fatal violence committed via nonhousehold unregistered firearms, yielding far more useful insights into which societal interventions might be optimal.

TO THE EDITOR:
In Hemenway's editorial (1), he correctly suggests that our systematic review and meta- analysis (2) provides too conservative an estimate of the relationship among guns and suicide and homicide at a societal level (1). Although we agree that our methods have probably underestimated the true relationship between guns and suicide or homicide victimization, our inclusion of only studies that assessed the individual's personal firearm experience does provide an estimate of the minimum likely risk.
The narrative around studies of firearm ownership and harms usually discredits causality assumptions, and causal inference is particularly problematic in ecologic studies. Critics are quick to point out conflicting evidence from various sources of rates and their interpretations. In fact, a commonly cited review of ecologic data by Kates and Mauser (3) only adds fodder to the ongoing debate. We purposefully excluded ecologic data, in part, to obviate this common critique regarding the interpretability of population-level data.
Hemenway also correctly points out that most individuals commit suicide with a firearm from their own home, thus potentially justifying the use of aggregate population-level data to determine suicide outcomes. Unfortunately, this would probably not be enough to convince doubters that rate data can be used to assert correlations between firearm access and suicide. More important, we had 2 primary outcomes of interest in our review: suicide and homicide victimization. Although we can make a reasonable assumption that the firearms used in suicides were obtained from the home (albeit still an assumption that we wanted to avoid), we cannot reasonably make that same assumption about the firearms used in homicides. Hemenway even writes most perpetrators *of homicides+ do not use a gun from the victim's home (1). We feel that using different inclusion criteria for different outcomes would not have been prudent (that is, including ecologic data for suicide outcomes and not for homicide outcomes) because the focus of our review was access to firearms among cases, not among perpetrators, and the result focuses on the home. Moreover, our results may help households understand the risks of keeping a firearm in the home, particularly if there is a household member who is depressed or a violent relationship; results from ecologic studies may be better for evaluating policies.
Notwithstanding our review, ecologic studies are a good source of data for establishing trends and positing relationships. We agree that a potential future methodological review could compare the summary estimates we obtained from individual-level data with those that would have been obtained if ecologic data been included. Operationally, of course, a reviewer would need to consider many issues: the rates of ownership to use (such as regional rates, state rates, or city rates), the time frame (that is, the most recent or most reliable data), and the types of suicide (for example, should only firearm- 1659
related suicides be included?). For these reasons, among others, ecologic data are seldom seen in meta-analyses of individual-level data. Assuming that the reviewer was able to overcome the operational obstacles of disparate rates over disparate regions describing dissimilar outcomes, he or she would have to ensure that the interpretation of the results from such a review are truly reflective of aggregated population-level data and not of individual-level data. Of course, there are conceptual steps to calculate ecologic relative risk estimates so that conclusions about individual-level behavior can be inferred, although there are inherent assumptions (4). The reviewer could pool these new individual-level relative risk estimates to get a pooled rate from ecologic studies.
To compare results from the meta-analysis of ecologic studies with those from the individual-level data we summarize, there are many approaches a reviewer could use. Namely, he or she could pool the results together to get a summary estimate from both ecologic and individual-level data, although combining estimates that were derived from different sources with different assumptions can be problematic. He or she could also perform a sensitivity analysis comparing the pooled estimates with and without ecologic data. Or he or she could perform a subgroup analysis comparing the pooled estimates from ecologic data with those from individual-level data separately. We feel that there are indeed benefits from reviewing ecologic data, and Hemenway's suggestion for future research will complement our current review nicely. The 2 reviews together could provide a more nuanced understanding of the true relationship between access to firearms and harms outcomes.

IN RESPONSE:
I disagree with Dr. Sklaroff's statements concerning my editorial. My concluding comment that obtaining a firearm not only endangers those living in the home but also imposes substantial costs on the community is a statement concerning my synthesis of the available scientific evidence. It is not a policy statement, and not an unabashed campaign to restrict the right to bear arms. Indeed, elsewhere I have suggested policies that could reduce firearm injuries in the United States while keeping nearly all of the recreational and self-defense benefits of firearms (1). Polls have found that the overwhelming majority of Americans and most gun owners are in favor of virtually all such policies (1).
Dr. Sklaroff incorrectly claims that I argue that widespread ownership of firearms in private hands in the United States promotes the spread of the disease of gun violence. I am not a physician, and I did not use and do not believe I have ever used the metaphorical phrase disease of gun violence. Elsewhere, I have reviewed the scientific evidence on guns and homicide (2). All things equal, where there are higher levels of gun ownership and weaker gun laws, there are higher rates of homicide due to higher rates of gun homicide (3).
I accurately summarized the evidence from population-based studies: There is no association between gun ownership levels and suicide by means other than guns. These studies have controlled for such factors as ... depression, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempts. On the basis of that statement, Dr. Sklaroff commented that If true, this assertion would undermine efforts to include scrutiny of mental health data during any mandated background checks. In fact, I said nothing about the relationship between depression or suicide ideation or suicide attempts and suicideI only said that they were used as control variables. Furthermore, even if no relationship were found between these control variables and suicide at the ecologic level, it would not mean that there is no relationship at the individual levelthat is the ecologic fallacy. For example, if there were no variation in rates of depression across the United States, then depression could not be used as a factor to explain the variation in rates of suicide. But that would not mean that depression was not an individual risk factor for suicide.

Lets analyze what transpired, here. First, neither confronted the key legal concern that I unambiguously raised, namely, the existence of the 2 nd Amendment. Second, neither transcends the ovious fact that the ability to access a firearm in a home may increase its usage, to both productive and destructive ends. Third, the author of the review-article expends considerable energy discussing the myriad structures of potential studies, while the author of the editorial defends his use of the word disease by claiming, in retrospect,that this term was not actually to be interpreted in its common, medically-oriented fashion because he isnt a physician. Fourth, the author of the review-article didnt rectify the charge that he had engaged in selective-citation of the reviewed-literature [painstakingly detailed without provoking MEGO my eyes glaze-over+, and the author of the editorial didnt deign to defend extreme-quotes that had been carefully lifted from his book. Fifth, neither confronted the major challenge facing those who would restrict gun-purchases, namely, how their acquisition might be justifiably and fairly restricted from people who had demonstrated mental illness.
Thus, my critique of the science behind these articles stands, and this information will be conveyed to an activist who edits guns and patriots, Neil W. McCabe, because I suspect it may become necessary to be able to rebut efforts to invoke those two pieces if/when legislation is promulgated.
I might add that two articles are of-interest that emerged today; a Son Used a Handgun To Save his Mom From an Hammer-Wielding Attacker and, notwithstanding Bloombergs ongoing initiative, apparently Red State Dems are asking Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly to Please Stay Away.
The earlier Blast e-mail addressing the issue of Global-Warming cited two separate studies claiming one of the biggest thresholds has already been reached; the West Antarctic ice sheet has begun to melt, a process that scientists estimate may take centuries but that could eventually raise sea levels by as much as 14 feet. It is irrelevant, in this regard, that USA has actually been COOLING since 1930s [the hottest decade on record] or that global warming was 'Fabricated' by Scientists at two of the worlds leading climate centres [NASA and NOAA], for the major concerns are global and may be trending acutely. Of greater import is the claim that the West Antarctic Ice Sheet Is Really Melting because it has a volcano underneath. A point-by-point rejoinder was promptly generated [Hank Paulson: As Wrong about Climate Change as he was about The Crash]. {A verdict from my son is pending.}
During tonights Heritage Action phone-update, it was confirmed thatfor nowit seems the Export-Import Bank wont be reauthorized *c/o support from the new-Whip]. This is timely, because Officials at Ex-Im Bank Face Probes, where four officials have been suspended or removed during recent months amid investigations into allegations of gifts and kickbacks, as well as attempts to steer federal contracts to favored companies. One employee allegedly accepted cash payments in exchange for trying to help a Florida company obtain U.S. government financing to export construction equipment to Latin America. He was escorted out of the Ex-Im Bank building in April.
Over the weekend, I had an e-mail exchange with Arlene Kushner, who was encouraged to upload her daily essays ASAP so that they can be most-easily hyperlinked; today, for example, note her unique observations [that, I argue, she may wish to compile in book-form, just as did Caroline Glick]; she wrote that her priority is http://wehavelegalgrounds.org/, an effort to promulgate an explanation for why Israel has a justifiable legal claim for exerting sovereignty over Judea/Samaria, for now. Note her casually unique insights that are not prominent elsewhere and that illustrate key-concepts]:
The Middle East, with the singular exception of a stable, prosperous, democratic Israel, is in a state of turmoil and transition with enormous violence and instability the norm. We are seeing Sunni-Shia tensions, increasing radicalism, and the break-down of borders. And the situation is only growing more severe and more convoluted. One of the most serious aspects of the current scenario is that it is devoid of good guys. Its simply a question of who is less problematic, less dangerous for Israeli and Western interests, and sometimes thats a hard if not impossible call.
{I sent her a hyperlink to my op-ed: America Must Recognize Kurdistan - Jewish Policy Center.}
Weve seen this in Syria for some time: Assad is a vile dictator, with no concern whatsoever for the lives of his own people and a solid alliance with Iran. While many of the rebels arrayed against him are jihadists who are seeking a cross-border caliphate that is a lethal proposition.
1663
Today we see it as well in Iraq with the brutal onslaught of ISIS there. A ruthless Sunni, jihadist, al-Qaeda off-shoot (now a rival of al-Qaeda) that began in Iraq, ISIS established itself in Syria after the civil war began, becoming a significant rebel force there. Now it is moving against the regime of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's Shia-dominated government - traveling across swaths of Iraq with lightening speed, taking territory and towns in the north and west of Iraq, and approaching ever closer to Baghdad.
Yesterday, the post of Turaibil, at the Iraqi border with Jordan was taken by ISIS, presenting a threat to the stability of Jordan.
~~~~~~~~~~
ISIS is commonly referred to as an acronym meaning Islamic state in Syria and Iraq. But the Arabic - al-Sham - could just as well refer to the Levant (the eastern Mediterranean), which means that Lebanon and Israel are also in its sites, as is Jordan. Sometimes it is referred to as ISIL.
~~~~~~~~~~ With all of this however, there is yet another serious problem to be confronted: Iran, which is Shia, is attempting to influence events in Iraq to its benefit. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani promised Maliki Iran's full support just days ago.
As well, Iran provides assistance to Shiite militia in Iraq. All of this strongly suggests the possibility of Iran achieving control in or undue influence over Iraq.
This rings loud bells in Jerusalem. One of the main reasons there has been Israeli opposition to Assad, in his struggle against jihadist rebels, is because he is an Iranian puppet. Were Iran to move into Iraq in a significant way, it would create an Iranian arc of influence that stretched from Iran itself through Iraq and through Syria to our border. And it would simplify the shipment of armaments from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
~~~~~~~~~~
Thus it is greatly worrisome to the Israeli government that the US seems to be reaching out to Iran, to achieve some sort of joint understanding to limit ISIS. Not only would this give Iran undue influence in Iraq, it might cause the US to even further weaken its position in nuclear negotiations. That is, Irans price for controlling ISIS which the US is very eager to see controlled - might be greater nuclear latitude. A real nightmare.
~~~~~~~~~~
Prime Minister Netanyahu gave an interview on NBCs Meet the Press yesterday advising the US that, When your enemies are fighting one another, don't strengthen either one of them." Weaken them both, he said. He addressed his serious concerns about the possibility of allowing Iran nuclear weapons: "Iran could come out with nuclear weapons capability it would make everything else pale in comparison." 1664
{I quoted this in the immediate-past Blast e-mail.}
~~~~~~~~~~ At our northern border with Syria (on the Syrian Golan) there is a considerable rebel presence. Yesterday, an anti-tank missile was shot from Syria into Israel, hitting a civilian vehicle. Two people were wounded and a teenage boy, Muhammad Karaka, an Israeli Druze from the village of Arrabe, was killed. His father, Fahmi is a contractor who works in the area for the Ministry of Defense.
The missile seemed to have come from a rebel area, or an area that is contested militarily. But Israel has determined that the government of Assad is responsible, and late last night launched attacks on nine Syrian military sites, with at least 10 Syrian soldiers killed. ~~~~~~~~~~
There is no substantial change in the search for the kidnapped boys. The operation continues apace. One of the things I have found interesting about the intensive search being done for the boys in Judea and Samaria (largely in the Hevron area) is the uncovering and exploring of hidden places: caves, dried wells and cisterns, tunnels and other excavated places. The goal, of course, is to find the students, who may be hidden in such a place.
But the secondary result of this exploration is to locate hidden terrorist supplies and weapons laboratories, as well as to expose secret places where fugitive terrorists might hide (or, in some cases, were hiding). I heard a news report a few days ago about a hidden excavation under a house that was uncovered and turned out to be large enough (and was apparently sufficiently well stocked) to provide hiding for many weeks. There are tunnels dug under washing machines and stoves. The mind boggles a bit at the complex labyrinth of hidden places that has been set up and drawn upon as part of the terrorist infrastructure.
~~~~~~~~~~
Then there are the forked tongue proceedings of Mahmoud Abbas. Hes playing both ends against the middle, as is his usual practice. He feels constrained by world opinion to condemn the kidnappings (all such condemnations clearly insincere). He must attend to this world opinion because funding for the PA is contingent upon positive attitudes towards the PA in the international community. But at the same time, he feels constrained by the Palestinian Arab street and his relationship with Hamas to condemn Israeli efforts to find the boys: we are causing unrest, provoking another intifada, doing collective punishment, etc. etc.
The recent statement by Amin Maqboul, member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council, reflects this situation. The Palestinian street, he says, overwhelmingly supports the kidnappings, if the goal is to secure the release of prisoners. While Abbas sometimes makes statements that are unacceptable to our people. But the purpose [of these 1665
statements] is to spare the Palestinian people the dangers of Israeli aggression and reactions of the international community.
~~~~~~~~~~ Khaled Abu Toameh has written about unrest in the PA streets directed at Abbas and the PA:
What happened in the center of Ramallah on the morning of June 22 could signal the beginning of an uprising, or intifada, against the Palestinian Authority [PA].
The incident began when hundreds of angry Palestinian youths attacked the headquarters of the Palestinian policy in the city in protest against ongoing security coordination between the PA security forces and Israel...
The attackers were particularly furious with the Palestinian policemen who stayed inside their offices as Israel Defense Force soldiers entered Ramallah in the context of a manhunt to find three kidnapped Israeli youths.
~~~~~~~~~~
I note here that the resident of the White House has not deemed it necessary, to this day, to issue a clear and public condemnation of Hamas for the kidnapping. Situations such as the one we are currently facing serve the role of exposing duplicity and true intentions. What makes Obamas silence all the more vile and reprehensible is that one of the boys Naftali Frenkel - has US citizenship. The US government should be at the forefront of efforts to find him.
Mike Huckabee former governor of Arkansas and talk show host - arrived in Israel yesterday. And he provided a sterling example of how to be a mensch a person who stands up and does the right thing. For he immediately went to the Frenkel home to offer words of support and comfort.
"Americans need to hear this story, he said. This is an American citizen, this is one of us. And even if he wasn't this should not happen to any young man or to any parent...
When asked by Arutz Sheva about the United States' call, last week, for restraint on both sides, Huckabee said What's to restrain? What are the Israelis supposed to do? This to me is nonsense. The only restraint at this point is the restraint by whoever has these boys to do nothing to hurt them. G-d help those people if they touch a hair on these boy's heads... I think the Israelis have every right to say and America should join this message you touch that boy who's an American citizen and you will have hell to pay for it. That should be the only message we are sending right now.

I close with this painful news, which has just been released, as a Shin Bet gag order has been lifted: In May, the Hamas terrorist Ziad Awad was arrested for the terrorist murder of Baruch Mizrachi on the eve of Pesach, outside of Hevron. What a horrible scene that was Mizrachi, his wife and kids were on their way to a seder.
Ziad has been charged with the murder; his son, charged as an accessory, has also been arrested. It was the son who presented security personnel with the Kalashnikov rifle that was the murder weapon. Ziad had told his son that, whoever kills a Jew goes to heaven. (Emphasis added)
The most horrendous part of this is that Ziad Awad was one of the terrorists released in the trade for Gilad Shalit.

The IRS watchdog that uncovered the IRS tea party controversy last year has launched an investigation into the disappeared IRS emails, according to prepared remarks set for delivery by IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. "The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration has already begun an investigation of this matter and his report will provide an independent review of the situation concerning Ms. Lerner's computer crash three years ago," Koskinen will say at a House Oversight and Government Reform hearing Monday night. The IRS told congressional investigators that Lois Lerner, the former head of the tax exempt division that singled out conservative groups, lost two years of emails in a 2011 computer crash.

These Blast e-mails were initiated two years ago in an effort to capture the increasing amalgam of BHOs Scandal-Sheet entries and, thus, this update is initiated with what transpired a few hours ago. Indeed, what had been envisioned as a terse-update has, again, grown into a generalized set of data that may be viewed as particularly worthwhile, as the GOPs electoral-results are tabulated in six states; having achieved closure on a few personal projects [Holocaust-Education-Mandate, Gun-Control-Letter, etc.], it is desirable to assume people need not be reminded of how dangerous BHO continues to be *noting that OReilly announced he will tackle this topic tonight, highlighting conservatives who warned of what BHO portended,and recalling how very distraught I was after both electoral-events]. Thus, recognize that these notifications are intended to stir action, rather than merely to convey information; if the suggested-reaction is not intuitive, please so-inform, and Ill transform the implicit into a to-do list.
Lest we forget, the VA-Scandal continues to explode [a Whistleblower told CNN the VA Covered Up Veteran Deaths characterizing the atmosphere as 'beyond horrible' and CNNs Drew Griffin concluded I Dont Think The VA Can Fix Itself before he advised 'Throw out every senior manager in the VA'].

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen testified Monday in a rare evening hearing, just days after being called a liar in another House proceeding He defended the IRS against insinuations that it covered up a political targeting scheme by burying inconvenient emails Republicans say he lied in March when he promised to deliver copies of 'all' of former official Lois Lerner's communications even though he knew of a 2011 computer crash that destroyed 28 months' worth Koskinen couldn't explain why a six-month 'disaster recovery' backup wasn't tapped to restore her emails after the computer crash He complained that it would take $10 to $30 million to upgrade IRS computers to retain all its emails and documents; the agency paid $89 million in bonuses last year and has an $1.8 billion IT budget House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa subpoenaed White House attorney Jennifer O'Connor on Monday to testify Tuesday morning O'Connor, former counsel to the then-acting IRS commissioner, was invited to testify but the White House Counsel's office refused to let her appear

Trey Gowdy slams Koskinen for failing to protect evidence and substituting 'common sense' for legal analysis
The IRS Commissioner said, I Do Not Remember How I Was Told Lerner Emails Lost; Koskinen said, 'We were in the middle of filing season as all this was going on.' It must be remembered that the IRS Commissioner John Koskinen is Major Democratic Donor. Others emphasized the importance of how this battle [GOP vs. IRS chief: Part 2] prompted Darrell Issa to subpoena an administration lawyer he wants to grill for his IRS targeting probe, and still others claim the e-mails arent lost *The CEO of a major a federal contractor, which has several contracts with the Treasury Department, says it should be relatively easy for IRS contractors to retrieve the lost emails of Lois Lerner, the IRS official at the center of the tea party-targeting scandal].

Those "soft interviews" for Hillary weren't so soft after all; she inadvertently admitted she violated the law over Benghazi; indeed, Hillary Clinton was a veritable fog of war machine when she got grilled by Bret Baier on Fox News Special Report about the 2012 Benghazi attack as part of a special two-part interview of the potential presidential candidate. {This may explain, also, how Bret Baier Turns Fox Haters Into Fox Lovers.} Also, Hillary was universally bashed for her effort to place her wealth into a populist context [CNN Anchors Ridiculed Hillarys Not Truly Well Off Comment: Thats Hilarious!]; her age [Harrison Fords Broken Leg Is Bad News for Hillary], her giggles [Hillary Clinton's Hilarious Interview Tour]; one columnist provided Free Advice to Hillary: Embrace Your Success! Unsolicited Advice to St. Louis Post-Dispatch [which has a long record of supporting liberal and Democratic priorities]: Dropping George Will Is A Bad Way To Arrest That Subscriber Decline, particularly when the rationale for this action *which occurred prior to last Tuesdays column (Obama's foreign policy of retreat) and Fridays column (Stopping a lawless president)] lambasting the Imperial-BHO] was so very thin:
Will wrote a piece (Colleges become the victims of progressivism), in which he ridiculed, in the context of a new Education Department mandate, some phony math and dubious cases being cited to demonstrate that America suffers from a rape epidemic, which the Obama administration has used to make the case for railroading due process rights of the accused. {Remember the Duke Lacrosse Team?}
Wills larger point was that the DOE mandate threatens the loss of federal funding to colleges who do not institute a preponderance of the evidence standard when adjudicating allegations of sexual assault. This, he wrote, would inevitably lead to costly litigation against institutions that have denied due process to males they accuse of what society considers serious felonies.
Elsewhere in his article, Will pointed to the growth of campus speech codes and the idea, on some campuses, of the need for trigger warnings on college textbooks that feature language or concepts as might victimize unwary students. Will contrasts these developments none of which are much resisted by college faculty and administrations [often theyre welcomed] with those same colleges anger at another prospective DOE program, a rating system that would compare schools on things like graduation rates, student debt, and earnings after graduation.
Will concluded his piece with this: What government is inflicting on colleges and universities, and what they are inflicting on themselves, diminishes their autonomy, resources, prestige and comity. Which serves them right. They have asked for this by asking for progressivism.
Tony Messenger, the editorial page editor at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch [who routinely bashes the Missouri Republican party, often harshly, and champions every liberal cause that comes his way] felt Wills column was offensive and inaccurate, for which apologies were in order, and sufficient grounds for dropping his column from the paper permanently. According to the Washington Posts Erik Wemple, he acted after: Seeing the reaction and intensity of the hurt in some of the social media and the reaction of women I know and talking to, people who really were offended by the thought that sexual assault victims would seek some special victimhood. 1672
The Sandusky probe report was less critical than was Kane, who proclaimed new charges; although the REPORT CLEARED CORBETT OF POLITICAL MOTIVATION, SHE CRITICIZED HIS 'INEXCUSABLE LACK OF URGENCY.' Channeling my chronic concern [vented repeatedy for two years on PoliticsPa], Micek concluded that AG-Kane took politics off the table, but left Corbett a greater headache with the release of her long-awaited report on his handling of the Sandusky child-sex scandal; although the Republican governor didn't play politics or slow the pace of the investigation that that shook Happy Valleyand pretty much all of college footballto its very foundations as he ran for the state's top spot in 2010, the Attorney General's Office bobbled the case from beginning to end, by, among other things, failing to talk to the right people soon enough and for inexplicably letting the case apparently drop while Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant football coach, wandered free, perhaps even claiming more victims. [This latter concern had been presaged on casablanca-pa.]
State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Centre, said his 'Worst fears have been confirmed' because the focus must be on protecting our children; he feels that, if Sandusky had been arrested immediately, at least two children [who came forward after March of 2009] could have been spared. Ex-prosecutors disputed the Kane claim of 2 ignored Sandusky victims and Sandusky's wife claimed this Prosecution report wasn't truthful. Adding to the intrigue, Corbetts statement on Sandusky report was silent in this regard and the GOP chairman predictably claimed Kane used the Sandusky 'tragedy' to 'smear' Corbett. {Also, the arbitrator concluded Sandusky deserves pension.}

For insights, note Five Best Moments from Gary Oldmans Playboy Interview and for levity, note Chloe bruce uploaded amazing kicking-videos. For follow-up reaction to my letter-to-the-editor on guns, note:
Guns are fatal.
Thats why militaries use them.
The primary reason to own or to possess a gun is to kill someone.
Some mental issues are transitory, others more permanent and others absolutely permanent.
There are probably millions of ways an individual can be judged to be mentally deficient but many, perhaps most, insufficiencies are harmless to others and many are beneficial.
Plus, mentally insufficient people have Rights which government is required to protect, not restrict.
And as you note, theres the 2nd amendment which is a set of Rights, along with a great number of other Rights and sets of Rights enumerated and not enumerated among the Laws of the United States.
The arguments against guns should be expanded to include arguments against Individual Rights.
And lets also argue taking guns away from poor people puts them in greater danger. 1674
Your points are well made but the opponents have made points that resonate among people unfamiliar with guns and among people who are afraid of guns.
How about a list of all of the guns in America and the number actually beneficially used by people with mental health issues?
Also, how about a list of all of the guns in homes of people with mental health issues that are not used for suicide.
How about a list of all the guns in all the homes that are used by other members in each of those homes to defend people who have mental health issues?
After all, regarding homes with, say, Downs Syndrome people are located in high crime areas, how many and how often does a gun in those homes provide great peace of mind to the people therein?
How many guns were used to protect people with mental health issues?
To protect poor people?
To protect people of color?
To protect children?
To protect property?
To provide Peace of Mind to millions of gun owing people.
In fact, any gun in any place including in the hands of a military person provides great peace of mind just by its nature and its presence.
Those are some of the Positive Arguments in favor of more guns in the hands of more people.
If the so called researchers, (they are actually one side frauds) would study and balance the positive values of guns against the very small number of negative arguments, they would find, for example, that fear and depression can be cured by holding a loaded gun against their fears.
Shooting an assailant also cures rape by preventing it.
Firearms are more necessary during times of National and International Stress which is a mental condition.
Or is it wrong to include stress as a mental state?
No. 1675
And stress is one reason that can and has been used to prohibit the possession of a gun when often stress can be lessened or eliminated by the possession of or fast access to a loaded and operational gun.
The above is what quickly came to mind that shows how wrong it is to actually conclude guns should be prohibited from some people because of metal issues.
Fear is also a mental state and people who fear guns should always identify their fear when writing about assuaging their mental state by reasoning guns should be controlled by people without such mental impediments.
A few lengthy quotations are @ the bottom of these self-explanatory [sorted] headline-hyperlinks; the first deals with a concern that a dedicated Zionist has been harboring [whether Mandatory Holocaust Education could be hijacked (by Common Core or by anyone more nefarious) to pollute the intended message]; the second elaborates on the impact of the invasion of the Illegals [in a truly graphic fashion]; and the third is todays excerpts from Rush Limbaughs radio-presentation. Before embarking, in anticipation of todays primary polling, it is instructive to note how desperate the media have become when faced with more non-Establishment Republicans entering the Senate [and elsewhere], manifest in this piece [which labels these TEA-Party-Activists as insurgents who are threatening the status-quo]:
INSURGENTS COULD FRACTURE GOP SENATE MAJORITY [c/o NY-Times] - With control of the Senate within reach, Republican lawmakers and party operatives worry that the election of mavericks like Chris McDaniel, who is trying to unseat Senator Thad Cochran in Mississippi, could make a difficult governing environment almost impossible by expanding the ranks of Republican senators who are willing to defy the party leadership. What good would a Republican majority be, they ask, if it is not a dependable governing majority? In fact, they suggest that a fractured majority could harm the party and its prospects by putting congressional Republicans nominally in charge, but denying them real power to deliver on big issues. Trying to keep that from happening is one of the central motivations for Republican leaders who have been so determined to turn back Tea Party challengers this year.

Common Core Alert! Holocaust as a Propaganda Tool? Thats What One CA School District is Teaching
Those in opposition to Common Core are frequently told that there is nothing controversial about the program. It is simply way to better prepare students for college by increasing their critical thinking skills. Many arguments have been made about Common Cores nonsensical Math lessons, its abandonment of American literary classics for progressive reading materials, and the Common Core based anti-American lessons that have been reported across the country. The latest Common Core controversy out of California is beyond imagination. It is a dangerous, anti-Semitic rewriting of history.
The San Bernardino Sun reported on the lesson at the center of the controversy. Students in the eighth grade in the Rialto Unified School District were asked to hone their critical thinking skills by debating, in essay form, whether the Holocaust was merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain wealth.
The district says the assignment is merely to teach students to evaluate the quality of evidence made by advocates or opponents of an issue. When tragic events occur in history, there is often debate about their actual existence, the assignment reads. For example, some people claim the Holocaust is not an actual historical event, but instead is a propaganda tool that was used for political and monetary gain. Based upon your research on this issue, write an argumentative essay, utilizing cited textual evidence, in which you explain whether or not you believe the Holocaust was an actual event in history, or merely a political scheme created to influence public emotion and gain. Remember to address counterclaims (rebuttals) to your stated claim. You are also required to use parenthetical (internal) citations and to provide a Works Cited page.
Asking junior high students to prove that the Holocaust was real or was simply a made- up event for propaganda purposes is not critical thinking; it is anti-Semitic. The Anti- Defamation League spoke out about this inappropriate and hate based assignment. The associate regional director, Matthew Friedman, sent the following in an email to Rialto Unifieds interim school superintendent, Mohammad Z. Islam.
An exercise asking students to question whether the Holocaust happened has no academic value; it only gives legitimacy to the hateful and anti-Semitic promoters of Holocaust denial. It is also very dangerous to ask junior high school students to question the reality of the Holocaust on their own, given the sheer volume of denial websites out there. 1679
If these questions do come up, its better to show the huge preponderance of evidence thats out there (testimony, documentation, death camp sites, archaeology, etc.) and to also question why people would question the reality of the Holocaust (many motivated not by historical curiosity, but by anti-Semitism). Also, who are the people questioning the Holocaust and what do real historians say? This is more of an issue of teaching good information literacy.
Even worse, this anti-Semitic project was assigned during the unit focused on the Diary of Anne Frank, the story of a young girl who, along with her family, was a Jewish victim of the Holocaust.
Local news affiliate KTLA, channel 5, offered an even further look into the offensive nature of this assignment.
The 18-page assignment instructions included three sources that students were told to use, including one that stated gassings in concentration camps were a hoax and that no evidence has shown Jews died in gas chambers.
With all this money at stake for Israel, it is easy to comprehend why this Holocaust hoax is so secretly guarded, states the source, which is a attributed to a webpage on biblebelievers.org.au. In whatever way you can, please help shatter this profitable myth. It is time we stop sacrificing Americas welfare for the sake of Israel and spend our hard- earned dollars on Americans.
The district claims that it received no complaints from parents , teachers, or students about the assignment, which encouraged students to question whether the Holocaust, the killing of 6 million Jews by the Hitler Nazi regime, between 1933 and 1945, really happened. They initially defended the assignment as simply one focused on critical thinking and research. District spokesman Syeda Jafri made a statement via email on behalf of the district.
One of the most important responsibilities for educators is to develop critical thinking skills in students. This will allow a person to come to their own conclusion. Current events are part of the basis for measuring IQ. The Middle East, Israel, Palestine and the Holocaust are on newscasts discussing current events. Teaching how to come to your own conclusion based on the facts, test your position, be able to articulate that position, then defend your belief with a lucid argument is essential to good citizenship. This thought process creates the foundation for a good education. The progression is within district board policy and also supports the districts student inspired motto: Todays Scholars, Tomorrows Leaders.
1680
After her adamant statement that actually admits that the assignment encouraged students to decide for themselves if the Holocaust truly happened, Jafri then offered a contradiction to the districts stance.
There is no doubt the Holocaust was one of the most horrific, traumatic time-pieces in our history, she wrote in an emailed response Friday afternoon. We want our students to engage in developing critical thinking skills and have an in-depth perspective on the importance of the Holocaust. Although I received one email last week in reference to this subject, the district has not received any concerns about this writing prompt from any teachers, administrators or parents. However, due to its sensitive nature, we are always open to go back and examine the prompt.
As news about this assignment was spread around the country, people were not buying the districts double speak about this controversial, anti-Semitic assignment. After defending the project for days, the district finally, under pressure, changed its tune and altered the assignment. On Monday, Jafri revised the districts stance on the assignment stating, This was a mistake. It should be corrected. It will be corrected. We all know it was real. The Holocaust is not a hoax. I believe our classroom teachers are teaching it with sensitivity and compassion.
Ms. Jafri, there is no sensitivity and compassion in encouraging young, impressionable minds to question whether the Holocaust was real and provide them with materials filled with vile, anti-Semitic, hate-based lies and ask if they believe it. The assignment was wrong and dangerous. Anti-Semites have been trying to rewrite history by stating that the Holocaust never happened and a school funded with taxpayer money just supported that twisted stance.

Second, despite what the Obama administration tells you, the illegal immigrants arent fleeing Central American violence. The aliens have advised immigration officials that they intend to reunite with their families, a high percentage of which are also illegal immigrants and who have told their Central American relatives that once inside the United States, Obama will allow them to remain. Before releasing the aliens, officials issue them an immigration court appearance date. Since few show up, the orders are jokingly refer to as "run letters." Third, some of those released have contagious diseases. An HHS source, working with the south Texas Border Patrol, reported that many of the youths have pink eye, scabies and tuberculosis but are nevertheless medically cleared and released because of overloaded housing facilities. Fourth, although theres talk among some influential Washington D.C. politicians like Hillary Clinton that the aliens should be returned home, Obama and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson dont echo her sentiment. Quite the opposite, the Department of Justice created a $2 million fund to provide legal representation to the minors. The goal is to help the aliens achieve legal permanent resident status which will eventually lead to citizenship. Fifth, the alien totals are huge and growing. According to the Border Patrol, unaccompanied children apprehensions increased from 16,067 in fiscal year (FY) 2011 to 24,481 in FY 2012 and 38,833 in FY 2013. During the first eight months of FY 2014, the Border Patrol processed 47,017 children. If the influx continues apace, and it shows no signs of slowing, DHS predicts that by fiscal year-end September 30, annual totals could exceed 90,000. Sixth, while news reports emphasize that aliens are processed mostly in the Southwest, theyre being dispersed throughout the U.S. Two planeloads of aliens were flown to Massachusetts; the first to Bedfords Hanscom Air Force Base and a second to Bostons Logan Airport before they were released. Efforts to relocate hundreds of alien children in Baltimore and Central Virginia have been temporarily blocked because community leaders were tipped off early enough to protest. Besides the Massachusetts Air Force Base, Obama has also designated as aliens final destinations military bases in California, Texas, and Oklahoma as well as, in one officials words, "to God knows where." Outraged Oklahoma governor Mary Fallon summed it up when she said: "The Obama administration continues to fail in its duty to protect our borders and continues to promote policies that encourage, rather than discourage, illegal immigration." Obamas ongoing, unconstitutional refusal to enforce immigration laws plus his commitment to, as Fallon said, encourage more illegal immigration are likely impeachable offenses. On the behalf of Americans citizens whom Obama has sworn to protect, Congress has the moral responsibility to end this border surge immediately. Without congressional intervention, thousands more aliens entering under the guise of seeking humanitarian relief will surely follow.

Coming Soon: El Rushbo Revere En Espaol! _____________________________________________________________ Seg#1: Dr Charles Krauthammer is one of the few with courage to admit Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney will join us on the phone today, to discuss the mess and what the Cheneys are trying to do.
http://foxnewsinsider.com/2014/06/23/krauthammer-%E2%80%98obama-president- choosing-decline%E2%80%99 On the OReilly Factor, Dr Krauthammer talked about the United States retreating from the world. ((Clip-Krauthammer: There is a big difference in retreat and decline by choice.)) He notes that the decline is by Obamas ideology. Im more and more inclined: he destroys on purpose. [Had he had his way, we would have gone to war to put Jihadists in charge.]
Had he had his way, we would have forced Assad from Syria and that would have put the Jihadists in power. It is time we find out how the rest of the world has to live and we are not a valid Superpower, is how Obama thinks.
They were not shouting and screaming, and Trey Gowdy was great; Koskinen has donated $100,000 to Obama/Democrats and that is why he was appointed to head the IRS. Womens Summit? All Obama does is complain about situations his policies created, as if he had nothing to do with them. Benghazi, Southern Border, IRS, GM, Global Warming, you name it, everything.

Six months ago, the Obama regime began planning how to transport kids from the border, January 29 th ((reading: Federal Business Opportunities began advertising job openings.)) Shelters were to be located throughout the United States, for 65,000 children.
Barbara Gonzales is the spokesperson for ICE, but could not provide answers to The Blaze. What is clear is they didnt just wake up one day and tell their parents Adios. Somebody call the WH and tell Barack Obama. >>> Obama will be mad as HELL when he sees this in the press.

Segment#3: How do you redistribute what doesnt exist? Let me tell you why and how Obama is operating. In an aircraft, the natural mode is to fly with the proper propulsionit wants to fly. The natural order of the American Economy is to grow. There may be cyclic declines which we could prevent if we wanted to. When it continues to decline, you see a president who is greasing the skids. I hope he fails is what I said, and everybody knew what I meant at the time.
I have made bold and fearless statements over the last three years.
We were world thieves, taking what was theirs, and then didnt share, and it helps understand suing the state of Arizona for trying to protect their border. Now we learn what was done and AP puts the number at over 40,000 kids coming across since October, The Regime wont tell us.
Why do we have to go to Iraq? Why does it matter? Let me tell you why it matters: We went into Kuwait to preserve the free flow of oil. This was like showing the cross to Dracula. Progressive/Liberals are against corporations.
Oil is the fuel of our Economy and it is crucial! It just is. That is just one example. What is not mentioned: the impact of our military on world trade. Putin it trying to gain total control of the pipeline to extort the West. Our objective is not to put people under our control and steal from them.
As a superpower, we take responsibility. You cannot become an isolationist or you bring on dire consequences. We are a protector in the world, not a bully. Im glad the Dr Krauthammer has come onboard.
By virtue of its design, the natural tendency for the US Economy is to grow, with prosperity. As we do well, the rest of the world follows. But if your perception is that this country is flawed and just, and needs to be cut down to size, then the sad little fact is that while Obama thinks he is making things more fair, what he is doing is making the whole world descend with us.

Rush: Rising isolationists in the Republican Party. When did this start? VP Cheney: Im very concerned about it. It bounces from policies after 9/11. Six months ago, The Regime began planning how to transport tens of thousands of undocumented children from the border. A January 29th application was posted on Federal Business Opportunities, a website that advertises government contract openings. The post says the government was preparing for the arrival of undocumented kids. They sought vendors to handle transportation logistics. The document states Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has a mission-critical responsibility for accepting custody of Unaccompanied Alien Children from US Border Patrol and other Federal agencies, and then transporting these juveniles to Office of Refugee Resettlement shelters located throughout the continental United States. It says there will be approximately 65,000 of these Unaccompanied Alien Children. A spokeswoman for ICE, Barbara Gonzalez, confirmed the posting was authentic, but couldnt provide additional information in response to questions from The Blaze. She did promise to get back to them when more information becomes available. Dont hold your breath. Well the children crossing the border from Mexico and Central America didnt just wake up one day, tell their parents so long, and skip town. Apparently, as many suspected, somebody in the Obama Administration had advance knowledge that these thousands of undocumented children would be flooding the border, illegally, and would require transportation to secure facilities. Whoever that somebody in the Obama Administration is, ought to tell President Obama that this border flood was planned in advance. When he finds out about this, how mad he's going to be?

"How can the Smartest Woman in the World say such dumb things consistently?" "The next World Cup game for the USA is Thursday at noon versus Germany. Given our track record against Germany in world wars, I'm not ruling this out. You never know." "I am probably the most observant person that you have heard of or, in case you know me, that you know. My observational skills combined with my memory always surprise people." "I noticed early on, after Bill and Hillary left the White House, how soon and how often they began discussing their new wealth. We made note of it." "I haven't watched a lot of soccer on TV because I've always found it to be slow, monotonous, boring, low scoring, no drama, plus it just makes me tired." "Did you hear that John Kerry (who, by the way, served in Vietnam) is in Iraq, and he's ripping them for losing control of their border? Can you believe that?" "I know it's going to surprise a lot of people. I actually watched the US-Portugal game in the World Cup last night." "You people in this audience are smart. You're critical, independent thinkers. You're not mind-numbed robots." "$50 million/$100 million, in the Clinton's world, isn't a lot of money. Not among the people that they hold dear. They know multibillionaires. They fly around gratis on their friends' private Boeing 757s. The Clintons are so cheap, they won't spend their own money on anything, not even to charter a Piper Cub to get from Chappaqua to Washington." ""The White House brings in an actress from Mad Men to talk about how bad it was for women in the sixties. Why not go get one who really lived that period and can testify to it?" "Hillary just won't give up this idea that her family is poor and average and middle class. In her world, $50 million is peanuts, and they pay ordinary income tax. 'We're not well off.' She has no idea." "Can you imagine if every morning when we arrive there's a packet from the Republicans in Washington, and it contains whatever agenda items, and they want my sign-off or approval on? That would be pretty cool if that were the case. There'd be a lot of progress up there." "On C-SPAN today, I, ladies and gentlemen, was essentially blamed for the partisan divide, the anger, the lack of people being nice, whatever. It's all my fault." "It would be pretty cool if the Republicans ran everything by me before they did anything. Can you imagine? Every morning when we arrive there's a packet from the Republicans in Washington, and it contains whatever agenda items, and they want my sign-off or approval on. That would be pretty cool if that were the case. There'd be a lot of progress up there. I can only dream." 1687
"The Clintons are such phonies. They're just such phonies, and they get away with it because they are perceived to have really good intentions. They just care so much about people." President Obama has been president for almost six years and all he's done is stand up every day and complain about another American problem. He's president and yet he acts like he's campaigning every day, which is the key to the Limbaugh Theorem, I know. But at some point don't you do something about it? Six years. The only personal-insights that can be provided today relate to having read the first two chapters of the book by Dinesh DSouza, released to coincide with his upcoming movie *America+; he contrasts the conservative patriots and the liberal progressives, noting that the latter would supplant economic justice with social justice so as to punish the USA for having abused people as it accrued worldwide power. Thus far, he has not gotten into the social issues [such as decrying gays as incapable of childrearing, cited in his Wikipedia entry], and this frames the fundamental challenge facing Republicans; if, indeed, libertarian Republicans are making the GOP the party of limited government once again, then they must also confront the need to restrict intrusions regarding gay-marriage, abortion, and pot-use. Then, the impending linkage of bipartisan populist elements can be achieved noting, for example, the NSA just lost its budget for backdoor web spying and the Supreme Court Rejected Warrantless Cellphone Searches; in this fashion, the GOP could attract the youth-vote, in particular, manifesting the fusion that has been discussed by Jonah Goldberg [i.e., retaining the moral compass in the process].
Click on this hyperlink to find-out what happened during the Year of your birth. It is also desirable to note the discussion on FNC [both during the customary segments on Special Report and the online elaboration that is aired on Wednesdays+ related to how BHO appears to be decompensating citing, for example, Devastating Numbers for Obama In New York Times Poll; a week after an NBC News poll showed that the American people had lost faith in Obama's competence and ability to lead, a new CBS News/New York Times poll has even worse news for a president embattled by his own incompetence [The VA Scandal Is much Worse than expected and Whistleblower: VA Changing Records to Make Dead Patients Appear Alive], arrogance [Obamas Keystone XL Delays Are Damaging U.S.-Canadian Relations], and failed policies [e.g., GDP Shrunk By Most in Five Years [-2.9%].
These concerns have exploded with regard to the IRS-Scandal, to wit: IRS Prematurely 'Retired' Data Storage Devices; IRS Head Waited 2 Months to Tell Congress, FBI About Lost Emails; U.S. Archivist David Ferriero said the IRS did not follow the law; GEORGE WILL, KRAUTHAMMER SPARRED WITH JUAN WILLIAMS OVER LEGITIMACY OF HOUSE IRS INQUIRY; IRS Official Was Happy About Obama Publicly Singling Out Conservative "Secret Donor" Groups; Lois Lerner And The Case Of The Missing Emails; Lerner sought IRS audit of GOP senator; Elijah Cummings is still the Democrat Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, despite his having been caught pressuring the IRS to target Conservative Groups; National media downplaying IRS scandal; and Issa: Id Give Lerner Immunity for Meaningful Disclosures. ,I wouldnt, noting ongoing revelations.-
Joining with DSouza, Krauthammer opined Obama Is a President Choosing Decline; others provided A Constitutional Tutorial for Obama [The President doesn't possess 'an unheralded power' to rewrite laws, culminating in Turleys claim that he is creating a fourth branch of governmenthis agencieseach of which he has imbued with power that admixes executive, legislative and judicial functions. Thats why Boehner Filed Suit Against Obama, an action that provoked FIREWORKS BETWEEN a focused BACHMANN AND a frustrated CAVUTO as the latter lamented 'ROME IS BURNING WHILE YOU FILE.' 1690
Again exhibiting his vacuity, BILL MAHER remained incessarntly on-message [DRUGS ARE GOOD, RELIGION IS BAD AND OBAMA IS 'A DROP-DEAD ATHEIST'], while LIMBAUGH finally said OBAMA 'NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED' FOR USING IRS 'TO DAMAGE HIS POLITICAL OPPONENTS.'
Note how the WaPo defended BHO [Boehners attack on Obamas executive orders ignores presidential history] by citing the number [but not the content] of these edicts; also note why people shouldnt worry that The economy just had its worst quarter since the Great Recession [although GDP fell 2.9%, employment and hours worked increased (although there is narry a mention about the quality of the jobs and the lower-pay)]. Finally, recalling the focus of the Heritage-Action folks upon the Export-Import Bank, note how discussion focuses on how this controversy is dividing the GOP over corporate welfare and why it is felt to be justified [to benefit the economy].
Limbaugh also lamented the combined-effects of the GOP-Establishment and the Dems in Mississippi, extolling the TEA Party Movement as the only force that can truly combat Crony-Capitalism; consider:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid Applauds Turkey For Welcoming Kurdish Independence WASHINGTON -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) applauded Turkey's move to welcome an independent Kurdistan on its border. Reid, during an interview with The Huffington Post on Wednesday, said that whether the Kurds break away from Iraq and form their own country is a decision that will ultimately have to be made by actors in the region. Turkey, however, had long been opposed, until a recent reversal. "I think it's great that Turkey put their imprimatur over this," Reid said. "It's good they did that, gave it their blessing, but the ultimate division of their country, if in fact there is one, has to come from Iraqis." Last week, a spokesman for Turkey's ruling party told a Kurdish media outlet that the Kurds in Iraq have the right to self-determination. HuffPost published the statement, which had been overlooked in Western media, on Tuesday.
"The Kurds of Iraq can decide for themselves the name and type of the entity they are living in," Huseyin Celik, a spokesman for the Justice and Development Party, told the Kurdish online news outlet Rudaw. The Kurds have been effectively autonomous since 1991, when the U.S. established a no-fly zone over northern Iraq. Turkey, a strong U.S. ally, has long opposed the creation of an independent Kurdistan so that its own eastern region, which has a large Kurdish population, would not be swallowed into it. But Celik's statement indicates the country may be starting to view an autonomous Kurdistan as a viable option -- a sort of bulwark against spreading extremism within a deeply unstable neighboring country. "The Kurds, like any other nation, will have the right to decide their fate," Celik told Rudaw, in a story that was picked up by CNN's Turkish-language outlet. "Turkey has been supporting the Kurdistan Region till now and will continue this support."
The Iraqi Kurds took control of the city of Kirkuk last week and have fortified it since. As much as half or more of Iraq's oil exports come from Kirkuk, making it among the most prized possessions in Iraq, and oil will be the focal point of any dispute over Kurdish control. 1696
The United States has for years been opposed to an independent Kurdistan, largely in support of Turkey's stance. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a leading foreign policy voice in conservative circles, was stunned to hear that a Turkish spokesman had opened the door to what the U.S. has so long opposed. "I'm surprised," he told The Huffington Post. "But what about the Kurds in Syria? What about the Kurds in Turkey?"
He said he worries that it would only create more instability and that he never believed in what he called "the Biden plan," or independent Kurdish, Sunni and Shia states. Vice President Joe Biden strongly pushed for partition during the early stages of the Iraq War. "The Biden plan of partitioning Iraq never made sense to me because the Sunni areas are held by people kicked out by al Qaeda," he said. "Just absorb what I said. From Aleppo to Baghdad, you're gonna have a radical Islamic Sunni group that was too radical for al Qaeda. "This is what I worry about if you let Iraq fracture: Iranians are going to own the south. ISIS is going to own everything in the Sunni area, and if the Kurds break away, you've got friction for a long time to come between the Turks and Kurds because there are Kurdish elements in Syria, Iran and Turkey." The Kurds, he suggested, would not settle for a state only in what is today Iraq. "If the Kurds break away, are you going to create a movement inside of Syria? Inside of Turkey and Iran to have a Kurdish state that encompasses those people? So this thing could spiral out of control and that could be another front," he said. Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, the top Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee, meanwhile, was much more open to Kurdish independence, suggesting that regional players must decide what's best. "That's such a complex part of the world over there and it's not up to the United States to answer questions like that," he said. "It's for those folks to answer."
Sophia Jones contributed reporting from Erbil, Iraq, which the Kurds refer to as Hawler.
FLASH: Corbett signed the Mandatory-Holocaust-Education Bill TODAY.
Aggregating headlines reinforce prior narratives regarding how BHO continues to destroy America; also noted are observations as to the turmoil in Harrisburg [Senators discussing mix of taxes to help close Pennsylvania's budget gap; PA House counting on liquor privatization, one-time transfers; What's on deck in state House on Thursday; pension-costs-skyrocket-in-school-districts; and Kane revised statement about 2 alleged victims of Sandusky. Aggegated hula-hoop routines are phenomenal [Girl doing amazing hula hoop routine; HULA HOOP GIRL PERFORMS TO SAY HEY (I LOVE YOU); Hooters Girl Hula Hooper - Unbelievable; Girl With Epic Hula Hoop Skills; and Groove].
Today, the SCOTUS unanimously issued two opinions that undermined BHO and the libs; it struck-down Obama recess appointments [saying only the Senate determines if it is in-session] and it struck-down a 35-foot buffer zone around abortion clinics [saying a Massachusetts law unfairly limited only certain speech]. Also, yesterdays SCOTUS cellphone ruling resonates in NSA fight and could also give a boost to lawsuits challenging the NSAs collection of phone call data.
Regarding the Middle East, a Leftist was confronted for enabling Islamists & silencing victims and Maher said " Islamophobic Is A Word Created By Fascists, And Used By Cowards, To Manipulate Morons"; also, Bomb Blasts Hit Egypt Subway. Regarding Israel, turmoil persists [The Palestinians and the Holocaust; Israel must curtail the pampering of convicted Islamic terrorists; Moderate Abbas Fatah movement to Israelis: Death is near; and POLL: PALESTINIANS OPPOSE TWO-STATE SOLUTION]. Regarding other Foreign Policy issues, Veterans of Foreign Wars wants BHO to Boycott Mexico Until Marine Released; also, on Friday, Ukraine will sign a sweeping economic and trade agreement with the European Union. The agreement is far more than just fine print for experts; it was the catalyst of a revolution that killed scores of Ukrainians and toppled a president. The hope now is that it will spark another kind of revolution, this one in Ukraine's corrupt, underperforming economy. The signing comes as the Ukraine and Russia inch closer to a peace agreement following months of heightened political and military tension.
Regarding BHOs Scandal-Sheet, the worm seems to be turning on both Comedy Central [Jon Stewart Mocked Totally Incompetent IRS and Its Scandal Excuses: Borders on Criminal Idiocy] and in the WSJ [Z STREET litigation against the IRS was featured in the WSJs top editorial+; yet, Chuck Todd asked 'Are There any Real Victims' in IRS Scandal? [Also, U.S. Diplomatic Compounds Still at Risk After Benghazi.]
BHOs handling of the administration of domestic concerns remains flawed, involving ObamaDontCare [Feds Spent $4.8 Billion on Obamacare Exchanges So Far; HOSPITALS BEGIN DATA-MINING PATIENTS; and Bloomberg big-soda ban officially dead], crime [Baltimore Mayor Speaks Out Against 'Knockout Game' After 2 Attacks In Week], gun-laws [Dianne Feinstein is Obsessed with Taking All Your Guns because she witnessed Harvey Milk murder], the media [Network Coverage of Kochs Dwarfs Attention to Steyer and Soros], jobs [Latest unemployment bill faces many of the same problems as previous attempts and some new ones]; the environment [Obama mocked climate change deniers in front of a League of Conservation Voters crowd, calling them 'Fringe elements'; Scientist: 'Warming' will become so bad 'It will be functionally impossible to be outside'; The EPA Also Claims Lost Emails; Issa to EPA Chief: 'You Only Exists Because Congress Loaned You Power'; and Coal has fired up W.Va. House race, noting that Nineteen-term Dem-Rep. Nick Rahall faces the tricky task of separating himself from BHO]; education [Gates-Funded Achieve, Inc. Celebrates NY's Failure to Halt Common Core]; and the Pentagon [Defense biz wary of 'Chairman' McCain for, if Republicans retake the Senate, he's in line to lead the Senate Armed Services Committee].
Regarding executive power, lefties are trying to shift the argument away from egotism [When weighing if Obama will veto spending bills, he may wish to recall that theres life after a veto; as a former governor, Clinton seemed to relish it]. It is this concern that has prompted states [including California] to Endorse calling a Article V Convention and Speaker Boehner to Sue Obama [an effort that Andrew McCarthy considers "feckless" because he fears critique of the administration and of the press]. This is viewed as a political problem rather than a legal problem, because Boehner and Beltway Republicans are essentially saying, "We can't use our power because Obama and his media friends would say mean things about us. But our lunatic conservative base is demanding action. So let us file a lawsuit so we can say we did something. Who knows maybe in a year or two we'll get lucky and get a favorable ruling against Obama that can't be enforced without Obama's help." {Also, Turley feels that, because Obama Crossed 'Constitutional Line,' he Could Lose the Boehner Lawsuit.} 1699
Regarding Politics, Cochrans (to-be-challenged) defeat of McDaniel continues to be controversial [GOP Establishment Used Dems smear-tactics to win Mississippi runoff; Limbaugh erupted: GOP IS 'CORRUPT, REPREHENSIBLE'; and Sarah Palin Called-Out Cochrans Shenanigans and saw this as illustrating Why She Would Consider a Third Party]. Politico Celebrated Cochran: 'Cantor Looks Like an Outlier' and Politico avers Dems hoped McDaniel would be the GOP-nominee in Mississippi, but they arent quitting. [Overall, the GOP-Establishment spent $23 million while the TEA-Party spent $12 million.] Other House- related items were predictable [Rangel survived the toughest challenge of his career and Ethics panel deferred Grimm probe, for threatening a reporter], and the POTUS-16 competition continued *Kevin Williamson hopes the POTUS-16 will be a boring man and Rubio pushes working-class appeal, focusing on sweeping changes to the tax code and education].
Hillary seems to be faultering [sales of her new memoir dropped sharply in 2 nd Week; Publisher Won't Make Back Large Book Advance; BILL CLINTON DOUBLED-DOWN ON HILLARYS DEAD BROKE CLAIM; Bill Clinton Bragged About Buying 14 Expensive Swiss Watches to 'Just Give Them Away'; HILLARY CLINTON: 'YOU HAVE TO BE A LITTLE BIT CRAZY TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT'; and 'Secret deal' to shut up Anthony Weiner].
Regarding marital-equality, a DIVIDED FEDERAL APPEALS COURT STRUCK-DOWN UTAH'S Marriage Law and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) now supports same-sex marriage [joining three Republican senators; this is the reaction of Log Cabin [LGBTQ]a supporting civil marriage for committed same-sex couples:
On the eve of the anniversary of the United States Supreme Courts landmark ruling in favor of federal civil marriage recognition for committed same-sex couples and the day after Congressman Richard Hannas victory over a GOP primary opponent who challenged him because of his support for marriage equality.
It seems the dam has finally broken: from local legislators to U.S. Senators, Republicans around the country are coming to the common-sense conservative conclusion that marriage equality strengthens society and is no threat to religious liberty.
As a longtime ally of Log Cabin Republicans who championed repeal of the flawed Dont Ask Dont Tell policy and most recently the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, Senator Collins declaration of support for civil marriage equality is the latest milestone in a career that has exhibited bold and unwavering support for the LGBT community.
Log Cabin Republicans is the nations largest Republican organization representing gay and lesbian conservatives and allies. The more than 30-year old organization has state and local chapters nationwide, a full-time office in Washington, DC, a federal political action committee and state political action committees.
The nations largest Presbyterian denomination *USA+ voted to approve same-sex marriages, to endorse divestment as a protest against Israeli policies toward Palestinians, and to allow babies to die who are born alive during botched abortions *a.k.a. infanticide+.
AG-Holder continues prioritizing ideology [Obama Appointed Anti-Business Activist Head of DOJ Division and a Longtime Federal Attorney said AG-Holder consolidates power and protects Corrupt Prosecutors, noting that Four US Attorneys found to have 1700
suppressed evidence have been promoted] and Politico probed why Eric Holder outlasted his (many) critics in a lenghthy piece without citing Fast and Furious.
And the invasion of the Illegals continues:
