Wegilant (A fusion of Web & Vigilant) Wegilant is an initiative of IIT Bombay & IIM Alumnus founded in April 2011. Led by IITian, Mr. Toshendra Sharma, their team consists of IT security specialists who offer education, consulting and implementation of Cyber security solutions to small, mid and large sizes businesses. It is a team of young and friendly entrepreneurs with the vision of making India excel in the field of cyber security & forensics. The company started out by offering security audit services for websites, networks, wireless networks, mobile devices and applications, and compliance of IT regulations. Growing from there, the company has now also ventured into products such as Black-Hound etc.
Key Questions :
The global cyber security market is highly competitive and substantially fragmented. As per reports, the major leading companies in the market are primarily US based IT and defence companies. Wegilant has a long term vision to become the leaders in global IT security industry and R&D lab for potential future security risk by 2025. It has an immediate mission to empower, secure and protect 50 corporate, 20,000 individuals and 200 institutes through solutions, trainings, services, processes and products by 2014. Being a young firm in this sector, Wegilant has the daunting task ahead of competing globally with other established firms. What makes them different from other companies? New innovations/approaches? Roadmap thought by them till 2025? How to launch in the global market? Factors for exponential rise within first year of launch? The reason for a decline after a huge launch success.
Objective
As part of our project, we would like to investigate on the past history of the company, its progress in the past years and the effectiveness of its recently implemented strategies to achieve their proposed short-term as well as long-term goals. Try to find its current standing in the Indian market.
Methodology
Understand different ventures running in the same field. Once we acquire the data of its advancement in the past few years, we will analyze the data and would try to extrapolate it for coming years. Being an IIT-B incubated company, it would be easier to approach the firm for details and we will have the ease of having a methodological approach in making the report. The fact that they have been sponsors for major student events of IIT-B such as Techfest and E-Cell, also displays their openness to interact with the IIT- B student community.
Deliverables
Will find the opportunities and threats the company is going to encounter in its sector.
